Abstract

This meta-analysis investigates the relationship between patient motivation and the success of endometriosis treatment, encompassing 25 studies with a total of 3,782 patients. A strong positive correlation was found (r = 0.68, p < 0.001) between motivation levels and treatment outcomes for endometriosis. Additional findings include: First, patients with high motivation exhibited a significantly greater reduction in pain (SMD = 1.24, 95% CI [0.98, 1.50]) and a more substantial improvement in quality of life (SMD = 0.89, 95% CI [0.67, 1.11]); Second, analysis of factors influencing motivation revealed scores related to understanding of the disease (β = 0.41, p < 0.001), social support (β = 0.38, p < 0.001), and the quality of the doctor-patient relationship (β = 0.45, p < 0.001); Third, motivational interventions were demonstrated to be effective in enhancing treatment outcomes for endometriosis (SMD = 0.94, 95% CI [0.73, 1.15], p < 0.001). Lastly, intrinsic motivation showed a stronger correlation with treatment outcomes for endometriosis (r = 0.73, 95% CI [0.65, 0.79]) compared to extrinsic motivation (r = 0.54, 95% CI [0.45, 0.62]). These findings extend the results of Facchin et al. (2017) regarding the role of psychological factors in the quality of life of endometriosis patients and support Deci and Ryan's (2000) theory on the importance of intrinsic motivation. Furthermore, in contrast to previous studies focusing on biomedical aspects, this research reveals the crucial role of psychological factors in the management of endometriosis treatment, underscoring the significance of Engel's (1977) proposed biopsychosocial approach. Consequently, these results provide a strong empirical foundation for integrating motivational enhancement strategies into standard care protocols for endometriosis and paving the way for a more holistic and effective approach to managing this condition.

Abstract

This meta-analysis investigates the effectiveness of positive emotion-based interventions for patients with fibromyalgia. From a total of 1,247 identified articles, 32 studies (N=2,456 participants) met the inclusion criteria. The results indicate that positive emotion-based interventions significantly reduce pain intensity (g=-0.42, 95% CI [-0.56, -0.28], p<0.001), enhance quality of life (g=0.38, 95% CI [0.25, 0.51], p<0.001), and alleviate depressive symptoms (g=-0.35, 95% CI [-0.48, -0.22], p<0.001). Furthermore, moderator analysis reveals that the duration of the intervention significantly moderates its effects on pain intensity (β=-0.03, p=0.02) and quality of life (β=0.04, p=0.01) in fibromyalgia patients. Among the interventions, mindfulness-based approaches appear most effective in reducing pain (g=-0.51), while cognitive-behavioural therapy shows the greatest efficacy in improving quality of life (g=0.45). These findings extend Fredrickson's (2001) "broaden-and-build" theory to the context of chronic illness and support the biopsychosocial model of fibromyalgia proposed by Häuser et al. (2010). The researchers argue that these results align with Zautra et al. (2005) regarding the role of positive affect in resilience against chronic pain, offering a more precise and comprehensive effect estimation. Unlike previous meta-analyses focused on specific interventions (e.g., Bernardy et al., 2018; Lauche et al., 2013), this study highlights the general effectiveness of positive emotion-based approaches. Consequently, it underscores the potential for integrating strategies to enhance positive emotions into fibromyalgia treatment protocols, paving the way for a more holistic and personalized approach to managing this chronic condition.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of informational services using a behavioral approach on students’ anti-bullying attitudes at SMAS 12 Al-Jam’iyatul Washliyah Perbaungan. The background of this research is the ongoing presence of bullying behavior in schools, which negatively affects students’ social and emotional development. The research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 31 eleventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling based on a tendency to exhibit bullying behavior. The research instrument used was an anti-bullying attitude questionnaire, which had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed an increase in anti-bullying attitudes after students received informational services with a behavioral approach. This was supported by a t-test analysis, which showed a t value of 30.49 > t table at a significance level of 0.05, indicating a significant effect. It can be concluded that informational services using a behavioral approach are effective in improving students’ anti-bullying attitudes. Therefore, this approach is recommended for school counselors as a preventive strategy to address bullying behavior in schools.

Abstract

Academic procrastination is a persistent problem among high school students, leading to reduced learning outcomes and lower academic achievement. Peer relationships are a key factor influencing procrastination, as adolescents often rely heavily on their peers for support, motivation, and identity. However, when peer interactions are not constructive, they may reinforce avoidance and task delays. At SMA Negeri 1 Namorambe, procrastination remains a challenge for many students, highlighting the need to better understand how peer relationships contribute to this behavior. Urgent attention to this issue is crucial to prevent negative impacts on students’ academic success and overall development. This study investigates the relationship between peer relationships and academic procrastination among students at SMA Negeri 1 Namorambe. Academic procrastination remains a prevalent issue in the school setting, often shaped by the social environment and habitual task delay. Employing a correlational research design, the study involved 60 students selected as the sample. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Pearson’s Product Moment correlation with the aid of SPSS software. Findings revealed a strong and statistically significant positive correlation between peer relationships and academic procrastination (r = 0.710, p < 0.001). These results suggest that a higher intensity of peer interactions, when not positively directed, increases the likelihood of students postponing academic tasks. The study concludes that the quality of peer relationships plays a critical role in shaping academic behaviors, particularly procrastination. Consequently, fostering a supportive and constructive social environment within schools is essential to mitigate procrastination and enhance students’ academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between empathy and social behavior of adolescents at the Zakiyun Najah Islamic Boarding School in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The background of this study is based on the importance of empathy as an emotional aspect that can influence the way adolescents interact socially, especially in an Islamic boarding school environment that is full of values of togetherness and caring. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The sample in this study was 32 students who were taken randomly from grades VII to XI. The instruments used were an empathy attitude questionnaire and a social behavior questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The validity test showed that 33 items from each questionnaire were declared valid. The reliability test showed a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.9165 for empathy and 0.942 for social behavior, which means that both instruments are very reliable. The results of the normality test showed that the data were normally distributed with a significance value of 0.200. The linearity test showed that the relationship between the two variables was linear with a significance value of 0.775. Hypothesis testing using Pearson correlation analysis shows a positive and significant relationship between empathy and adolescent social behavior, with a correlation value of 0.576 and a significance of 0.001 (p < 0.05). This shows that the higher the empathy of adolescents, the better their social behavior

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether peer social support is related to self-efficacy among BK UMN Al-Washliyah students who are preparing to become teachers. A total of 32 active students were selected as samples for this study. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson's correlation, while data was collected using a Likert scale. The results of the study found that peer social support was significantly associated with students' self-efficacy (r=0.463 and p<0.05). These findings confirm that a supportive social environment, particularly in the form of peer support, plays a role in shaping students' self-confidence, motivation, and professional readiness, and contributes to the design of guidance and counselling programmes that pay greater attention to students' social aspects.

Abstract

The family is the first and main socialization institution that plays an important role in shaping the character and social behavior of children. However, if the family condition is not harmonious or there is a split (broken home), this can have a negative impact on the psychological development of children. One of the impacts that often appears is aggressive and antisocial behavior. This study aims to determine the relationship between the condition of the Broken Home family and aggressive behavior in students at SMK Nur Azizi Tanjung Morawa. This study uses a quantitative approach with a structured correlational design that has been tested for validity and reliability. The study population was 88 students, and the sampling technique used purposive sampling based on certain criteria, so that 30 appropriate respondents were obtained. Data collection was carried out through the Broken Home Family Scale and the Aggressive Behavior Scale. The results of data analysis using the Pearson product moment correlation test showed that there was a significant relationship between the condition of the Broken Home family and aggressive behavior of students, with a significance value (p) of 0.000 (p <0.05) and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.382. This finding shows that the more disharmonious the family condition, the higher the tendency for aggressive behavior in students. Therefore, special attention is needed from schools and families in providing emotional support to students from broken homes, so that they can manage their emotions more healthily and develop positive social behavior.

Abstract

Consumptive behavior among generation Z, especially vocational high school students, is becoming an increasingly worrying phenomenon along with technological advances and unlimited access to information. This study aims to determine the effect of information services using flipbook media in reducing consumptive behavior of generation Z at SMK Nur Azizi. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method of one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all 120 grade XI students of SMK Nur Azizi, with a sample of 35 students selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through a validated consumptive behavior questionnaire, both before and after the provision of information services using flipbook media. Data analysis used the t-test (paired sample t-test) with the help of SPSS. The results of the hypothesis test showed that there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores, with a significance value (sig.) 0.000 <0.05. This shows that information services with flipbook media are effective in reducing the level of student consumptive behavior. The conclusion of this study is that the use of flipbook media as a means of information services can be an innovative and educational alternative in guidance and counseling to help students control consumptive behavior. This study provides recommendations for BK teachers to be more creative in using attractive visual media to convey information related to personal financial management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional regulation and anxiety in public speaking in front of the class in MTs Nurus Salam Deli Tua students in the 2025 Academic Year. This study is based on the importance of public speaking skills in the context of learning and the role of emotional regulation as one of the psychological factors that influence students' anxiety levels. With this study, students are expected to be able to overcome speaking anxiety with emotional regulation. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlation method and a product moment correlation research design with the help of the SPSS version 23.00 for Windows program. The population in this study were all 8th grade students of MTs Nurus Salam Deli Tua, totaling 180 students, and a sample of 45 students or around 25% of the population was taken using a random sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of an emotional regulation scale and a speaking anxiety scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the data analysis showed a significant negative relationship between emotional regulation and speaking anxiety in front of the class This is proven by the significance value (p) of 0.001 which is smaller than 0.005, and the correlation coefficient value (r) of -0.491. This means that the higher the students' ability to regulate their emotions, the lower the level of anxiety they experience when speaking in front of the class. Conversely, low emotional regulation ability will be directly proportional to increased speaking anxiety. Thus, it can be concluded that emotional regulation can reduce the level of anxiety in students if the students are able to regulate and manage their emotions. This finding shows the importance of fostering emotional regulation in the context of education, especially to increase students' self-confidence and communication skills in the classroom.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the lack of group guidance services for career planning experienced by students, including not being able to determine plans after graduating from high school, not knowing about their interests, talents and abilities, so a study is needed entitled the influence of group guidance services on career planning for class XI IPA 1 students of SMAS 12 Al-Washliyah in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study aims to determine the effect of providing modeling technique group guidance services on career planning for class XI IPA students of SMAS 12 Al-Washliyah Perbaungan. This research is a quantitative research with an experimental type with a pre-experimental method of One Group Pre-test and Post-test Design. The subjects in this study were 10 students with low levels of career planning. This study focuses on the influence of modeling technique group guidance to improve students' career planning with the data collection technique used, namely a questionnaire. The data analysis method uses the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Based on the results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, the output value is Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.005, sig. value 0.005 < 0.05 at a significance level of 5% or α = 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in students' career planning before and after being given modeling technique group guidance services. These results indicate that modeling technique group guidance services can effectively improve the career planning of class XI IPA students of SMAS 12 Al-Washliyah Perbaungan.
