Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of probiotic administration of Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus coagulans isolate in improving feed intake, and body weight, and feed conversion rate (FCR) in broiler chicken. A total of 24 broiler chickens divided into four treatments i.e. (P0) was a group without probiotics, (P1), (P2), and (P3) were experimental treatment groups consist of probiotic 2 mL/day, 4 mL/day, and 6 mL/day per orally. In results, feed intake, body weight, and FCR values in all treatment groups (P1, P2, P3) were significantly different (p < 0.05) from (P0) group. Meanwhile, there was no significant difference (p > 0.05) between P1 and P3 group. It can be concluded that the effect of B. subtilis and B. coagulans as probiotics with a dose of 4 mL/day had a noticeable impact on feed intake, body weight, and decreased FCR.

Abstract

Avian infectious bronchitis is one of the diseases that can lead to losses in broiler farming. To investigate its impact, we conducted a recapitulation of plasma maintenance (RHPP) results data gathered from 5 clusters that tested positive for avian infectious bronchitis using PCR and ELISA tests. Subsequently, the RHPP data underwent quantitative analysis using paired sample t-test method. The results of this analysis revealed significant differences in the variables of performance index (PI), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and medicine costs within several clusters before and after being infected with avian infectious bronchitis. This study was important for the future to address zero hunger issues.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the antibacterial activities of bidara leaf extract against Staphylococcus aureus isolated from mastitis cases. The isolate was identified before the antibacterial test. This study was done by five times repetitions on Mueller Hinton Agar. The concentrations used in this study were 30%, 40%, and 50% of bidara leaf extract then a blank disc was dipped into each concentration. Tetracycline disc was used as a positive control and aquadest was used as a negative control. The diameter of the clear zone was measured using calipers after incubation for 24 hours at 37℃. The results showed significant differences (p<0.05) between the positive control (K+), negative control K (-), and the concentration group. However, each concentration of bidara leaf extract showed insignificant differences in the diameter of the clear zone. It could be concluded that bidara leaf extract has antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus isolated from mastitis cases.
