Abstract

With trading activities, goods produced by producers can be directly enjoyed by consumers. Trading activities are carried out in all sectors, including the agricultural sector. Agricultural product trading activities can occur because there is a contribution from one of the traders in the trade chain, namely the mobile vegetable traders. However, research on the contribution of mobile vegetable traders in trading agriculture has yet to be widely carried out. Therefore, this study aims to examine the contribution of mobile vegetable traders in trading agricultural products. This study was done in Manokwari Regency, West Papua Province, in September 2021. The research method used is a descriptive method with a survey approach. The data obtained were processed by tabulation and examined descriptively. The results showed that the contribution of the mobile vegetable traders was divided into three groups. They have included the contribution to the local merchant farmers measured by the revenue that they got and the time for selling in the traditional market because agricultural products have been bought by the mobile vegetable traders to be traded again. The second contribution is to customers measured by the time, cost, and effort that should be used when the customers want to shop at traditional markets. The third contribution is to the family of mobile vegetable traders, which is measured by the income earned and used for the family. Information about the contribution of the mobile vegetable traders to their families, local farmers, and customers can be a consideration for the government to carry out appropriate empowerment for the mobile vegetable traders in creating independent and growing micro and small businesses.

Abstract

Vegetables Vegetables are very important as the counterweight of nutrition and vitamins for human body. Until now, Indonesia is still importing vegetables from other countries. The same circumstance also occurred in West Papua province. In Kaimana district, the supply of vegetables was imported from North Sulawesi. Meanwhile, the import process at the national level took place through a formal import mechanism. This study seeks to determine what factors are thought to influence the volume of vegetables import in Kaimana district. By using the OLS method, it was found that the purchasing price of the imported vegetables is a decisive factor influencing the import process. Vegetables selling price, age of importing traders, number of traders’ family members as well as consumers’ disposable income are not significant to prompt import.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the process of teaching and learning had to be conducted online, such as through Zoom meetings, due to physical meeting restrictions, including in higher education. However, this was not entirely effective due to various factors, such as individual student learning preferences. To enhance comprehension, students utilized video-sharing platforms like YouTube, which, as it turns out, was effective. Hence, this study aims to investigate what factors motivate students (both school and university students) to continue using YouTube as a learning medium post-COVID-19 pandemic. A theoretical lens of the Expectation Confirmation Model is used with the addition of external variables: Perceived Herd and Parasocial Interaction. A total of 242 respondents from both educational levels in Manokwari Regency were obtained and analyzed using Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The study's results explain that students experience satisfaction in using YouTube, which motivates them in Manokwari to continue using it as a learning medium post-COVID-19. This satisfaction is influenced by variables such as confirmation (C), perceived usefulness (PU), and perceived herd (PH). However, the PU factor's impact on continuance usage (CU) has a t-statistic value <1.96 and a p-value >0.05, indicating it lacks significant influence. There is also a rejection of the parasocial interaction (PI) variable's influence on satisfaction (S). Furthermore, the use of control variables such as age and gender has shown significant influence on this study, with research findings indicating that age and gender significantly impact satisfaction and continuance usage. Abstract

Tailing land reclamation aims to improve the environment so that the tailing areas become productive for crop cultivation. The research was carried out in the tailings area of Mile 21.5 Timika from March to September 2022. The research aimed to study the dosage levels of Pistia stratiotes composts as an ameliorant to support the growth and yield of chili cultivated in the fresh tailings area. This study was laid out in a randomized block design with the Pistia stratiotes compost as a treatment, which consisted of PS1 = 1 kg/plant, PS2 = 2 kg/plant, PS3 = 3 kg/plant, and PS4 = 4 kg/plant in 6 replications. Based on the results, there was a significant effect of Pistia stratiotes compost on the growth and yields of chili. PS4 treatment produced the highest growth (plant height and leaf number) and highest yields (fruit number/plant, fruit weight/plant, fruit weight/plot, fruit weight/ha), while PS1 produced the lowest growth and yields. Chili produced 4.19 t/ha by PS4, indicating a high yield potential when tailings turned into a more stable growth media over time. There was a significant correlation between plant height and leaf number with the fruit weight. This shows that the vegetative growth component is closely related to increased chili yields. The high heritability value indicates the genetic factor influenced the growth and yields of chili more than the environmental factors. The metal contents in the chili fruit tissue are below the threshold level. The findings of this study emphasized the appropriate reclamation approaches using Pistia stratiotes compost as an ameliorant, which effectively improves the quality of tailing as growing media to maximize chili yields.
