Abstract

This study examined how role-playing was used to lift Arabic learning motivation among Grade VIII students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Syafi’iyyah Darussalam, Tebo Regency, Jambi Province, Indonesia. A qualitative case study with two action-research cycles was conducted between February and May 2025 with one Arabic teacher and twenty-two Grade VIII students. Data were collected through 12 classroom observations of 80-minute lessons, semi-structured interviews and document analysis of lesson plans, dialogue scripts, and student journals. Coding followed the Miles–Huberman–Saldaña procedure; inter-rater agreement reached Cohen’s kappa of 0.84. A five-phase classroom syntax emerged: orientation and warm-up, vocabulary and dialogue modelling, group rehearsal, live performance, and feedback with reflection. Proportional time allocation across the 80-minute lesson placed group rehearsal at 28%, live performance at 26%, vocabulary and modelling at 22%, with orientation and feedback at 12% each. Five motivation indicators rose between baseline and end of Cycle 2: active participation from 54% to 82%, speaking confidence from 47% to 79%, on-task behaviour from 63% to 88%, vocabulary uptake from 58% to 84%, and class enthusiasm from 51% to 86%. Supporting factors included theme proximity to daily life and explicit teacher scaffolding, while shyness, time constraints, and ability heterogeneity continued to require differentiated handling. The five-phase syntax offers a transferable template for similar madrasah settings

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low interest of students in the subject of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at the Al-Fattah Islamic Boarding School in Sungai Binjai, which has been dominated by lecture methods and the lack of varied learning media. This condition encourages the need to optimize digital media that is close to the character of the current generation, one of which is YouTube as an audio-visual media. This study aims to describe the use of YouTube media in SKI learning, identify its supporting and inhibiting factors, and analyze its influence on students’ learning interests. The approach used is qualitative with the type of field research and descriptive design at MA Al Fattah Sungai Binjai, with the subjects of SKI teachers, students, and related parties. Data is collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively through reduction, presentation, and conclusions drawn, with triangulation of sources and techniques to maintain validity. The results of the study show that YouTube is utilized through planning, implementation, and follow-up stages that are integrated with SKI learning objectives, supported by media characters, ease of access, and the role of teachers, but hampered by technical aspects and pedagogical readiness. The use of YouTube has a positive effect on students’ interest in learning through increased feelings of pleasure, attention, engagement, and self-learning initiatives. The novelty of the research lies in the focus of optimizing YouTube for SKI learning interests in the context of pesantren-based madrasah aliyah and its implications for the development of learning design and policy use of digital media in Islamic education.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: pembiayaan syariah; UMKM; lembaga keuangan syariah; kendala pembiayaan; strategi penguatan Abstract Millions of small and micro business owners in Indonesia have long relied on borrowed capital, yet access to fair and sustainable financing remains far from resolved. This study examines the extent to which Islamic financing can address that gap—documenting its concrete benefits while also mapping the obstacles that continue to limit its wider adoption. A library research method was employed, drawing primarily on SINTA and Scopus-indexed publications from 2022 to 2026, along with official documents from OJK, Bank Indonesia, and selected Islamic financial institutions. The findings suggest that MSMEs participating in Islamic financing schemes tend to see improvements in production capacity, more stable revenue, and greater resilience during economic downturns. That said, significant challenges persist: public literacy on Islamic financial products remains shallow, institutional reach has not extended to many rural areas, and existing regulations are still not fully adapted to the realities of informal businesses. This study argues that expanding the Islamic financing ecosystem requires genuine multi-stakeholder collaboration—not just targets written into strategic plans. Abstract

The post-truth era, in which emotional resonance and identity-driven narratives often outweigh factual verification, has reshaped how Generation Z students access, interpret, and internalize religious knowledge through digital platforms. While prior studies have examined religious digital literacy and value-based character education in Indonesian Islamic schools, the role of the epistemology of Islamic educational philosophy in mediating Generation Z religiosity within non-state Islamic universities remains underexplored. This study investigates how the epistemological foundations of Islamic educational philosophy are internalized into the religiosity construction of Generation Z students at Universitas Islam Yasni Bungo, Jambi, Indonesia. Adopting a qualitative field-research design grounded in an interpretive paradigm, data were generated through semi-structured in-depth interviews with twelve students and six lecturers (purposively sampled), three months of participant observation across four academic and student-organization settings, and document analysis of curriculum syllabi, lecture materials, and student-organization records collected between February and April 2025. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model with both source and method triangulation to enhance trustworthiness, and member-checking with seven informants to verify interpretive accuracy. The analysis identified four interrelated mechanisms of epistemological internalization: dialogical and critical classroom practice rooted in the Qur'anic ḥiwār tradition; curricular integration that reconciles revelation, reason, and experience; lecturer modeling functioning as a hidden curriculum; and faith-based digital literacy emphasizing tabayyun. These mechanisms jointly cultivate a student religiosity that is reflective, rational, and resistant to disinformation rather than merely ritualistic. The study concludes that Islamic educational epistemology operates as a cognitive and normative filter that mediates students' engagement with digital religious discourse, offering a contextually grounded model for strengthening authentic religiosity in post-truth higher education.
