Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model using geoboard media on the cognitive abilities of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 8 Mamboro, specifically in the mathematics subject focusing on plane figures. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach, the study involved 29 students as the population. The research hypothesis proposed that the PBL model assisted by geoboard media significantly improves students' cognitive abilities. Data were collected through a multiple-choice test consisting of 14 validated questions. Analysis included descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, paired sample t-test, and N-gain test. Results revealed a significant increase in cognitive ability, with the mean pretest score rising from 51.51 to 82.48 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test indicated a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05) and a t-value of -19.324, confirming the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis and rejection of the null hypothesis. Furthermore, the N-gain score averaged 0.6765, categorized as moderate improvement. These findings demonstrate that implementing the PBL model with geoboard media effectively enhances students' cognitive skills by fostering independent discovery and active engagement in learning

Abstract

The institutional transformation of Islamic Higher Education (Pendidikan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam/PTKI) from State Institutes of Islamic Studies (STAIN) and State Islamic Institutes (IAIN) into State Islamic Universities (UIN) marks a fundamental shift in the epistemological landscape of Islamic education in Indonesia. This phenomenon generates a dialectical tension between the pragmatic demands of modernity faced by state PTKI and the preservation of turāth traditions that remain dominant in private Islamic higher education institutions (PTKIS). This article aims to examine the ontological and axiological essence of these institutions through a comparative analysis of Western and Islamic philosophies of education. Employing a qualitative method with a library research approach and philosophical analysis, the study finds the existence of an existential dualism within PTKI. The findings indicate that: (1) in terms of management and the structure of science curricula, UINs tend to adopt Western pragmatism oriented toward the market and managerial efficiency; (2) conversely, in terms of ethical substance and ultimate goals, PTKI continue to strive to maintain Islamic essentialism aimed at forming the Insān Kāmil; and (3) PTKIS play a crucial role as guardians of tradition, balancing the euphoria of scientism within UINs. The article concludes that the integration of knowledge (Wahdat al-ʿUlūm) in UINs still faces challenges of latent secularization, thus requiring a renewed strengthening of adab-based curricula and synergy with the pesantren educational model.

Abstract

This study aims to increase the enthusiasm for learning Indonesian language subjects through the application of interactive media for fourth-grade students at SD Inpres 3 Birobuli. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, which is carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 20 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation, then analyzed descriptively to see the increase in student enthusiasm for learning. The indicator of success in this study is the achievement of 80% of students who have high enthusiasm for learning. The results showed a significant increase in each indicator of student enthusiasm for learning after the application of interactive media. The average percentage of student enthusiasm for learning increased from 55.5% in the pre-cycle, to 76.3% in cycle I, and reached 87% in cycle II. These findings indicate that interactive media can increase student enthusiasm for learning, by making the learning process more interesting and motivating. The application of interactive media in learning is recommended to continue to be developed and adjusted to student needs in order to achieve optimal learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reading interest of fourth-grade students at SDN 10 Rio Pakava and to explain the role of teachers in improving students’ reading literacy. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were 10 fourth-grade students of SDN 10 Rio Pakava. The research design refers to the theory developed by Creswell (2008), which includes the stages of describing, analyzing, and interpreting students’ reading interest and the role of teachers in improving reading literacy at SDN 10 Rio Pakava. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and then analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that the reading interest of fourth-grade students at SDN 10 Rio Pakava is generally in the high category, with an average percentage of 63%. This is based on the indicators of enjoyment (66.67%), concentration of attention (73.33%), time allocation for reading (56.67%), and reading motivation (26.67%). Teachers have a very important and strategic role in improving the reading literacy of fourth-grade students at SDN 10 Rio Pakava through reading habituation, the provision of reading corners, guidance during reading activities, motivation, and the creation of a conducive classroom atmosphere.
