Abstract

This research was motivated by the low ability of students to think related to problem solving and student activity. Project-based learning will be implemented which is expected to increase student understanding, develop problem-solving skills, increase cooperation abilities and student activity in the learning process. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive. The subjects in this research were 12 students in the 2023/2024 Odd. Data collection techniques used include observation, portfolio, and documentation. The data collection instrument used was a activity observation sheet in Project I and Project II. The data analysis technique uses quantitative data analysis. The criteria for the success of this research can be seen from the increase in the value of student participation in the Marketing Management class. The results of this research indicate an increase in the value of student participation activities by the implementation of Projects I and II. In project I learning activities, the average value of student participation was 77.25. Then there was an increase in the value of participatory activities in project II learning activities to 80.9. Based on these results, it can be concluded that student participation can be increased by implementing the project-based learning model.

Abstract

The implementation of practical activities is very much needed in science education, especially physics material. Almost all physics materials require practical activities. The limitations of practical tools and materials and the ability of educators are major challenges in implementing practical activities. The results of interviews with Physics Education students showed that practical activities were carried out with simple tools and had not fully used the practical guidance module. Students were confused about the procedures for implementing practical activities so they needed a practical guidance module. This community service activity was carried out with the aim of optimizing practical activities through the use of a virtual lab-based practical guidance module. This activity was attended by Physics Education students as prospective users of the practical guidance module. The entire series of activities went smoothly, students were enthusiastic about following from the beginning to the end of the activity. This can be seen from the positive response of students. To evaluate the response, a questionnaire was given, students agreed that this module made it easier for them to carry out virtual lab-based practical activities. This activity also increased students' insight in developing virtual practical activities and compiling a guidance module equipped with a practical implementation tutorial.

Abstract

Abstract  Few realize that swearing is not always used to express negative emotions. It can also be utilized to convey positive feelings, such as compliments. Swearing in compliments is a phenomenon identified on X, the social media platform that was formerly known as Twitter. The purpose of this study is to examine the pragmatic meaning and the pragmatic function of racial swearing in compliments on X. This study is classified as descriptive qualitative research. The data of this study consisted of racial swearing in the compliment utterances on X. The observational method was used to gather the data. In the meantime, the data were analyzed using the identity method by referring to the theories of Hughes (2006), Kreidler (2002), Ljung (2011), and Spears (2000). The results of the data analysis are presented by using informal method. The study's findings demonstrate that the racial swearing in compliments on social media X has the pragmatic meaning of ‘guy’. In addition, it has pragmatic functions as noun supports and anaphoric use of epithets. As a noun support, the racial swearing was used to assist the compliment word, which was usually in the form of an adjective. On the other hand, as the anaphoric use of epithets, the racial swearing was used as an anaphoric pronoun, a pronoun that refers back to another noun in the utterance. It is anticipated that this study would lessen the misunderstanding that Indonesian EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students may have when interacting with other English speakers on social media X.

Abstract

Abstract

The low conceptual understanding of physics education students, often caused by conventional teaching materials and a lack of self-study guidance, indicates the need for innovation. This research aims to develop a web-based student worksheet (web-LKPD) integrated with the STEM approach and supplemented with scaffolding. The developed web-LKPD is designed to improve the conceptual understanding of physics education students. The method used is research development with the ADDIE development model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The subjects of this study were physics education students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Jambi University. The instruments included questionnaires, interviews, conceptual understanding tests (pretest and posttest), and student response questionnaires. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that the developed web-LKPD was highly suitable for use, evidenced by the average feasibility percentage from media experts of 93% and material experts of 83.2% (very good). The product also received a positive response from students (89.7%, very good). Paired t-test analysis concluded that there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results, indicating that the web-LKPD has a significant impact on improving students' conceptual understanding

Abstract

This study is a research and development (R&D) project aimed at producing a multirepresentation-based electronic worksheet (E-LKPD) assisted by Liveworksheet on Newton's Law material that is both valid and practical for use in high school physics learning. The development model employed utilizes the initial three phases of ADDIE, namely Analysis, Design, and Development. The research findings demonstrate that the developed E-LKPD product falls within the category of highly valid and highly practical, with an Aiken's V validity index of 0.852, classified as excellent or highly valid, and a practicality level of 85.95%. The multirepresentation approach facilitates students' understanding of Newton's Law concepts through various forms of representation, including verbal, visual, mathematical, and diagrammatic representations. Furthermore, the interactive features embedded in Liveworksheet provide immediate feedback that supports students in learning independently and reflectively. Overall, this E-LKPD is valid and practical so that deemed suitable for use as an innovative learning medium and is expected to enhance students' conceptual understanding and higher-order thinking skills.
