Abstract

This study aims to explore the process and impact of mentoring the implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS) in realizing the Islamic Smart School model in junior high schools. The digital transformation of education in rural Indonesia faces significant barriers, including limited teacher digital literacy and a lack of culturally and religiously contextualized learning materials. The study used the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) framework to assess school resources, followed by capacity-building workshops, mentoring, and co-development of digital content integrating Islamic values. The results showed a significant increase in teacher confidence and proficiency in using the LMS platform, with LMS confidence increasing from 24% to 88%, and ability to integrate Islamic values into digital content from 15% to 80%. Teachers also reported increased motivation and ownership of digital pedagogy, with 84% expressing high motivation to continue using the LMS tool. The establishment of an LMS Clinic and Virtual Support Forum fostered ongoing peer support, contributing to the sustainability of digital pedagogy. This research contributes to the understanding of how digital transformation in Islamic education can be successfully integrated with religious values through a structured and participatory mentoring program.

Abstract

This study examines how controversial religious debate content on social media shapes Muslim audiences’ religious learning experiences and explores its implications for Islamic Religious Education in the digital era. While Islamic Religious Education has traditionally emphasized structured learning within formal institutions, contemporary religious knowledge is increasingly encountered through digital platforms characterized by controversy, rapid circulation, and public interaction. This study aims to analyze how Muslim audiences engage with controversial religious debate content, how religious learning emerges through such exposure, and what pedagogical implications arise for Islamic Religious Education. This research employed an exploratory qualitative approach combining digital observation, qualitative content analysis, and semi-structured interviews. Data were collected from 50 controversial religious debate contents circulated on social media between January 2023 and December 2025, approximately 450 purposively selected audience comments, and interviews with 20 active Muslim social media users. Data were analyzed thematically using NVivo 14. The findings show that controversial religious content can function as a trigger for informal religious learning through argument comparison, clarification seeking, further exploration, and personal reflection. However, this learning experience is pedagogically ambivalent, as it also involves emotional engagement, confirmation bias, symbolic competition, and simplified understanding of complex religious issues. The study concludes that Islamic Religious Education must expand beyond formal knowledge transmission by strengthening digital religious literacy, epistemic evaluation, and ethical engagement in navigating contested religious knowledge in digital environments.

Abstract

This research delves into the application of the Community-Based Development Model (CBDM) to empower MSMEs rooted in local wisdom within Probolinggo Regency, contributing to participatory and sustainable community economic development. The core focus is to understand how community engagement, leveraging local potential, and digitalization drive collective economic independence. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study method, data was gathered via in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and thematic analysis. Findings highlight five key stages in CBDM implementation: identifying local potential, community involvement, MSME capacity building, executing culture-based programs, and evaluating economic independence. This implementation successfully boosted MSME turnover by 57%, spurred citizen participation in village economic forums, and independently strengthened digital marketing capabilities. These results demonstrate that development rooted in local participation and culture not only enhances the economy but also reinforces community social cohesion, offering a replicable development model for similar regions.
