Abstract

ntroduction: Cardiac arrest refers to a critical condition in which the heart abruptly ceases to pump blood effectively, leading to an interruption of blood flow throughout the body. This disruption prevents vital organs, including the brain and heart, from receiving the necessary oxygen and nutrients. Without immediate intervention, cardiac arrest can result in fatality or irreversible brain damage within minutes. The Emergency Department is pivotal in managing cardiac arrest cases. As the first line of healthcare response, it is imperative for medical personnel to engage in ongoing training and education to enhance the quality of emergency care, particularly in scenarios involving cardiac arrest Methods: This study employed a single-group pretest-posttest design involving 24 clinicians from the emergency department of Rumah Sakit Umum (RSU) Pongtiku. Data collection utilized validated instruments, including a 25-item multiple-choice knowledge assessment (Cronbach’s ? = 0.87) and a 10-item psychomotor skill checklist (inter-rater reliability = 0.89). The normality of the data was assessed using the Shapiro-Wilk test. Given that the data did not follow a normal distribution, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for analysis. Results: The results of the analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test indicate that all respondents experienced an increase in knowledge scores after being given the educational intervention, with a value of Z = -4.288 and a significance value (Asymp. Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This shows that there is a significant difference between pretest and posttest knowledge scores. Therefore, the educational intervention provided is effective in increasing respondents' knowledge.Based on the results of the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test analysis, a Z value of -4.046 was obtained, with a significance value (Asymp. Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This result indicates that there is a significant difference in skill scores before and after the educational intervention. A total of 21 respondents experienced an increase in their skills, while 3 respondents maintained the same score. Therefore, the educational intervention provided was effective in improving the skills of the respondents. Conclusion: BTCLS training for emergency department nurses significantly increases knowledge scores and standardized skills in the short term. These results support the sustainability of the program and highlight the need for curriculum improvement. Further research is necessary to evaluate retention and its impact on clinical indicators.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is the best source of nutrition for infants aged 0–6 months and plays an important role in growth, development, and improving infant immunity. However, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is still not optimal, one of the causes being the low knowledge of breastfeeding mothers. Health education is a promotive and preventive effort that can improve mothers' knowledge regarding exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to determine the effect of health education about exclusive breastfeeding on the knowledge of breastfeeding mothers at Community Health Center X. The study used a pre -experimental design with a one-way approach. group Pretest - posttest. The sample consisted of 30 breastfeeding mothers selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire on exclusive breastfeeding knowledge. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Signed Rank Test. The results of the study showed an increase in knowledge of breastfeeding mothers after being given health education with a p value = 0.000 (<0.05). The conclusion of this study is that health education about exclusive breastfeeding has a significant effect on increasing knowledge of breastfeeding mothers at Community Health Center X.

Abstract

Background: Physiological labor is an ideal, normal delivery process without complications. However, its success is greatly influenced by the quality of midwifery care. The concept of Continuity of Care (CoC) emphasizes the provision of continuous care from pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Midwive’s competence in implementing CoC is believed to influence the success of physiological labor. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between midwives' competence in Continuity of Care and the success rate of physiological labor. Methods: This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 100 pregnant women assisted by midwives at primary health facilities in District X, selected using purposive sampling. Midwives' competence was measured using a valid and standardized questionnaire, while the success of physiological labor was recorded based on medical records. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and logistic regression. Results: The results showed a significant relationship between midwives' competence in Continuity of Care and the success of physiological labor (p < 0.01). Pregnant women cared for by midwives with high competence were 3.2 times more likely to experience a physiological birth than those cared for by midwives with low competence (OR = 3.2; 95% CI = 1.6–6.4). Conclusion: Midwive’s competence in implementing Continuity of Care positively influences the success of a physiological birth. Improving midwives' competence through training and coaching is an important strategy to support safe and physiological births.

Abstract

Children's adherence to dental hygiene is a crucial factor in preventing dental and oral diseases, particularly caries, which is common among school-aged children. This low adherence is often caused by a lack of understanding and motivation regarding the importance of maintaining good dental hygiene. The storytelling method is believed to be an effective educational strategy because it aligns with the developmental characteristics of children who enjoy stories and imagination. This study aimed to determine the effect of the storytelling method on children's adherence to dental hygiene. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group design. The sample consisted of 40 children aged 6–8 years, divided into two groups: an experimental group educated using the storytelling method, and a control group educated using the conventional lecture method. Data were collected through a toothbrushing adherence questionnaire covering brushing frequency, time, and technique. The analysis showed a significant increase in children's adherence scores in the experimental group after treatment (p = 0.001), while the increase was not significant in the control group (p = 0.213). An independent t-test showed a significant difference between the two groups after the intervention (p = 0.004). In conclusion, the storytelling method has a significant impact on increasing children's adherence to dental hygiene. This approach can be implemented by teachers, healthcare workers, and parents as a fun and effective educational method to foster clean and healthy living habits from an early age.
