Abstract

Chayote is a vines type of plant, and usually people known it as a healthy food and its fruit can be cooked as a vegetable soup. Research aim was to find out the activity from rind and fruit flesh extract of chayote (Sechium edule Sw.) as an antioxidant and find out IC50 from rind and fruit flesh extract of chayote S. edule Sw. After peel the rind of chayote fruit, then chayote rind extracted with soxhletation method and chayote fruit flesh with maceration method. Antioxidant activity evaluated by using DPPH method with spectrophotometry, and IC50 count using regresi linier analysis. This research used methanol extract of chayote rind and methanol extract of chayote fruit flesh. Research results showed that chayote rind extract and chayote fruit flesh have some activity as an antioxidant. IC50 for each sample is 422,38 ppm for methanol extract of chayote rind and 1322,62 ppm for methanol extract of chayote fruit flesh.

Abstract

One of the plants used by the people of East Kalimantan, especially the people of West Kutai, as a medicinal plant is Kitolod (Hippobroma longiflora L.). The plant parts used are the leaves and flowers. The secondary metabolites contained in Kitolod leaves are alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids and polyphenols. The aim of this research is to identify secondary metabolite groups and test the cytotoxicity of Kitolod leaf extracts and fractions. Secondary metabolites are identified qualitatively using various chemical reagents and metabolites characterized by the presence or absence of color changes or the presence of sediment or foam. Cytotoxicity testing was carried out using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. The data research was analyzed using the Reed and Muench method to determine the Lethality Concentration 50% value. The results of research on the metabolite content of ethanol extract, fractions: n-hexane, ethyl acetate and n-butanol contain alkaloid, flavonoids and phenolic/polyphenols compounds. The bioactivity test results for the ethanol extract had an LC50 value of 592.93 ppm, the n-hexane fractions of 582.77 ppm, the ethyl acetate fraction of 531.37 ppm, and the n-butanol fraction of 119.48 ppm. These results indicate that the n-butanol fraction of Kitolod leaves has stronger cytotoxic activity than other extracts. .

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have become a significant global health challenge. Conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension contribute to more than 70% of deaths worldwide. This community service activity aims to provide free health screenings to the community, particularly to the residents of Desa Bangun Rejo, with the goal of early detection of NCDs. The community service activities involved health screenings followed by direct education to the participants. The results showed that 40 participants attended and gained knowledge about their current health conditions, including blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and uric acid levels. The findings from the health screenings will serve as a reference for participants to understand the importance of regular health check-ups in mitigating future risks Penyakit tidak menular (PTM) menjadi salah satu tantangan kesehatan global yang signifikan. termasuk penyakit jantung, diabetes, dan hipertensi menyumbang lebih dari 70% kematian di seluruh dunia.

Abstract

Abstract

Honey kelulut is derived from the kelulut bee (Trigona sp.), which is native to Kalimantan and belongs to the Trigona genus of stingless bees. The honey produced by the Trigona genus has a well-documented antibacterial property. Study objective accomplished. This text discusses the potent antibacterial action of kelulut honey. The antibacterial testing method employed is the well diffusion method, utilizing the bacterium Staphylococcus epidermidis as the test organism. An antibacterial test was conducted by measuring the diameter of the zone of inhibition against bacteria. The results were obtained from concentrations of 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. Then the resistance diameter was measured for each concentration. The most optimal outcomes were achieved in the antibacterial test using honey kelulut. The honey kelulut with an 80% concentration exhibited a medium resistance level of 10.2 mm, while the 100% concentration demonstrated a strong resistance level of 13.7 mm.
