Abstract

This activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of mothers who are members of the Langgar At-Taubah study group, Bukuan Village, Samarinda, East Kalimantan regarding making gummy candy to prevent stunting in children. The method of implementing this service uses interactive counseling. The evaluation instruments for this service are pre-test and post-test. The results of this service show that the knowledge and skills of most mothers have increased, as evidenced by the presence of 76% of mothers in the post-test who managed to answer all questions correctly, previously in the pre-test only 45%.

Abstract

 Chayote is a vines type of plant, and usually people known it as a healthy food and its fruit can be cooked as a vegetable soup. Research aim was to find out the activity from rind and fruit flesh extract of chayote (Sechium edule Sw.) as an antioxidant and find out IC50 from rind and fruit flesh extract of chayote S. edule Sw. After peel the rind of chayote fruit, then chayote rind extracted with soxhletation method and chayote fruit flesh with maceration method. Antioxidant activity evaluated by using DPPH method with spectrophotometry, and IC50 count using regresi linier analysis. This research used methanol extract of chayote rind and methanol extract of chayote fruit flesh. Research results showed that chayote rind extract and chayote fruit flesh have some activity as an antioxidant. IC50 for each sample is 422,38 ppm for methanol extract of chayote rind and 1322,62 ppm for methanol extract of chayote fruit flesh.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical education is one of the preventive efforts to enhance community understanding of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and Gout, whose prevalence continues to rise in society. Mangkupalas Village, Samarinda Seberang, was selected as the location for community service based on the high risk of DM and Gout influenced by dietary patterns, lifestyle, and a lack of health education. The service method included delivering preventive material on DM and Gout by resource persons, followed by a discussion session. Questionnaires were distributed before and after the educational activities. The results showed an average pre-test score of 48.8 and an average post-test score of 60.0, indicating an increase in community knowledge after receiving pharmaceutical education. Additionally, residents showed enthusiasm for implementing healthy lifestyle changes. In conclusion, pharmaceutical education is effective in raising awareness and knowledge about DM and Gout among the community. This community service activity can serve as a continuous effort to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, particularly among the residents of Mangkupalas Village, Samarinda.

Abstract

Pewarna alis merupakan produk kecantikan dekoratif untuk wajah yang digunakan pada rambut alis mata untuk membentuk dan mempertegas alis. Tinta cumi (Loligo sp.) merupakan sebuah tinta berwarna hitam yang terdapat didalam kantong tinta cumi (Loligo sp.) yang memiliki manfaat salah satunya dapat digunakan sebagai pigment pewarna hitam alami serta memiliki manfaat sebagai antioksidan, sehingga cocok digunakan dalam sediaan kosmetik. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui pembuatan formula sediaan pewarna alis dari tinta cumi (Loligo sp), mengetahui sifat fisik pewarna alis dari tinta cumi (Loligo sp.) dan mengetahui formula pewarna alis dari tinta cumi (Loligo sp.) yang terbaik. Metode menggunakan serbuk tinta cumi (Loligo sp.) yang divariasikan dalam F1, F2 dan F3 sebanyak 1%, 1,5% dan 2%, setiap formula ditambahkan titanium dioxide, talc, kaolin, microcrystalline wax, beeswax, hydrogened castor oil, metil paraben, petrolatum, stearic acid, lanolin oil, liquid paraffin dan aquadest. Lalu dievaluasikan dalam 28 hari pada suhu ruang (25-30oC) dengan uji organoleptik, uji pH, uji homogenitas, uji daya oles, uji waktu mengering, uji iritasi dan uji hedonik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tinta cumi efektif digunakan untuk pewarna hitam alami pada kosmetik dan aman pada kulit.

Abstract

Has conducted research Potential and Activities of the Sunscreen Lotion of Bawang Dayak (Eleutherine americana (Aubl.) Merr. by ethanol extract fraction from East Borneo. The purpose of the study was to determine the potency ann activity of the sunscreen ethanol extracts fraction of Bawang Dayak in the preparation of a lotion with the parameter measuring the percent transmission erythema (% Te) and pigmentation (% Tp) in vitro in the room temperature 27oC storage and accelerated temperature 40oC. Lotion dosage formulations using ethanol extracts fraction bawang Dayak with a concentration of 0.1% and 0.2%, and positive control is a trademark preparation Bless Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15®. Stages of research include the formulation and measurement of absorbance and value %Te) and %Tp at various storage temperatures with UV-Vis spectrophotometry at λ 292.5 to 372.5 nm. The analysis of research data using a program SPSS. The results showed that ethanol extract fraction concentration in lotion preparations of bawang Dayak 0.1% and 0.2% active as a sunscreen included in the category of sunblock. The extract fraction is active as a sunscreen and in the Sunbloc category, with the best concentration as a sunscreen being 0.2%, with its sunscreen potential not being significantly different from the control Sunscreen SPF 15® at the 5% level.
