Abstract

PT.

Abstract

The study on improving the facility layout at CV. Surya Mega Yokasa demonstrated that the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method significantly enhances the efficiency of the production process, with a total reduction in material displacement distance by 13.45 meters and an efficiency increase of 16%. These findings imply that careful consideration of workflow and qualitative factors in layout planning can markedly optimize production flow and reduce congestion. However, the study did not factor in the Material Handling Costs (MHC), suggesting that future research should integrate MHC analysis to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of layout effectiveness and further optimize production efficiency. Highlight: Efficiency Boost: SLP reduced displacement by 13.45m, increasing efficiency by 16%. Improved Workflow: SLP method improved production flow, reducing congestion. Future Focus: Include Material Handling Costs for better layout evaluation. Keywoard: Systematic Layout Planning, Blocplan, Production Efficiency, Material Flow, Facility Layout

Abstract

The concrete industry, known for producing various concrete products, faces quality challenges evidenced by a 20% defect rate in concrete type G5. SP. 100. 100. 120. 10 MF from August 2022 to January 2023. This study aims to identify the root causes of defects to aid companies in enhancing product quality. Employing qualitative and quantitative methods, including the Seven Tools and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), the research uncovered predominant defects: 681 porous, 312 chipped, 196 cracked, 132 bug hole, 93 shrinkage, 85 lumpy, and 72 other defects. Human, material, machine, method, environmental factors contributed to these defects. Corrective actions were recommended to mitigate defects. The study's limitations include its focus solely on concrete type G5. SP. 100. 100. 120. 10 MF, suggesting future research should encompass all concrete types to provide comprehensive insights for the industry. Abstract

This study investigates the root causes of defects in recycled paper production, focusing on GSM-related issues, and proposes solutions to mitigate these defects. Through a six-month data collection process involving observation, on-site inspections, surveys, and expert interviews, the research employs Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) methodologies to identify key factors contributing to defects. Results reveal seven types of defects, with GSM defects being most prominent, attributed to factors such as insufficient training and inadequate supervision. Proposed improvements include enhanced training, raw material inspections, and improved monitoring practices. These findings offer valuable insights for the paper production industry, suggesting practical interventions to enhance product quality and production efficiency. Further research could explore additional methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or Six Sigma for continuous quality improvement. Highlights: 1. Thorough analysis: FMEA and FTA methodologies for defect root cause identification.2. Recommended solutions: Enhanced training and monitoring for quality improvement.3. Industry insights: Practical strategies to enhance production efficiency and product quality. Abstract

PT. XY, a textile company specializing in woven sarongs, faces fluctuating demand during Islamic religious celebrations, impacting production. In Ramadhan 2023, production increased by 30%, but warp yarn availability was insufficient. This study forecasts warp yarn production over twelve periods, comparing Double Exponential Smoothing Holt’s (DES) and Holt-Winter’s Exponential Smoothing (WES) methods, optimized using the golden section method. Using historical data from January 2021 to April 2023, WES with golden section parameters (α1 = 0.67387, β1 = 0.08756, γ2 = 0.85408) achieved the best accuracy with a MAPE of 5.5437%. The WES method is recommended for improving production planning at PT. XY, with future research suggested to explore production correlations and procurement costs. Highlight: Demand Fluctuation: PT. XY experiences significant demand changes during Islamic religious celebrations. Forecasting Methods: Comparing DES and WES methods for predicting warp yarn production. Optimal Accuracy: WES with golden section optimization achieved the lowest MAPE of 5.5437%. Abstract

Minimarkets face challenges of overcrowding and prolonged wait times, often due to suboptimal cashier staffing. This study aims to determine the optimal number of cashiers to minimize queues. Using a single-phase multi-channel queuing model, data was collected through direct observation and quantitative analysis. Initial findings with two cashiers revealed varying wait times, prompting simulation experiments. Results indicated that adding a third cashier significantly reduced wait times to 0.41-2.45 minutes, enhancing service efficiency and customer satisfaction. Future research may explore longer observation periods and assess cost-effectiveness in staffing adjustments. Highlight: Data Analysis: Direct observation, quantitative data, and Excel processing for insights. Simulation Test: Arena software simulates cashier scenarios for service optimization. Efficiency Boost: Adding a cashier reduces wait times, enhancing customer satisfaction. Keywoard: Minimarket, Queuing Model, Cashier Optimization, Service Efficiency, Customer Satisfaction.
