Abstract

Abstract

To control flooding in Manggar Kecil watershed, it’s required to design the Flood Control Building (Bendali). This is aligned with the Balikpapan City government program, but there is limitation of flood discharge data in Manggar Kecil river included in the main parameter for bendali planning. To solve the limitation discharge data, transformation analysis of rainfall data to discharge (rainfall-runoff) can be conducted to obtain the value flood discharge. Analysis could using synthetic unit hydrograph methods. Quantitative descriptive is applied in this research and data collection from secondary data. Results of data analysis for return periods 10 to100 years include the Nakayasu method in the range of 167.02 to 212.92 m³/second, the Synder-Alexeyev method in the range of 123.31 to 157.19 m³/second and the Limantara method in the range of 202.01 to 257.53 m³/second. The determination of design flood value uses maximum discharge value of Limantara method.

Abstract

Rapid urban development has a negative side because development does not pay attention to the carrying capacity of the environment. Land that should function as protected areas and green open spaces is decreasing, thus impacting water catchment areas. Soekarno Hatta-Borobudur Street is one of the annual surface runoff puddles in Malang City up to 20 cm high for almost 40 minutes. This is due to the inability of existing channels to withstand rain discharge and the lack of water catchment areas. The purpose of this study is to overcome the problem of puddles by utilizing alternative solutions of eco-drainage biopore infiltration holes (BIH) and infiltration wells so that rainwater runoff from buildings does not directly flow into drainage channels. The results of the analysis of planned rainfall for a 10-year return period obtained a rainfall intensity of 126.986 mm. There are 22 channels that are unable to accommodate excess flow discharge. It is known that the number of each alternative needed to overcome this problem is 57,060 LRBs and 429 infiltration wells.

Abstract

Widas Subwatershed in Nganjuk Regency is a tributary of the Brantas Subwatershed that often experiences flooding during the rainy season. The data on flooding is still in the form of numbers and tables so it needs to be mapped. The presentation of data in the form of a map is needed so that readers can analyse its distribution and help in mitigation planning against flood disasters. The purpose of this research is to analyse the level of flood hazard in the Widas Subwatershed of Nganjuk Regency and present it in the form of a map. The method used was scoring of 6 flood parameters, namely slope, land elevation, soil type, rainfall, land use, and river density, then weighting with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The result of this research is that Widas Sub Watershed of Nganjuk Regency is dominated by flood hazard area of 33,375.95 Ha while the flood hazard area is 3,415.55 Ha. Flood hazard areas are found in 28 villages in Gondang, Loceret, Nganjuk, Pare, Sukomoro, and Tanjunganom sub-districts. The flood-prone areas are caused by 4 main factors: low land elevation, Alluvial soil type, residential land use, and the density of the river is very sparse.

Abstract

The Sumber Pinang River in Pasuruan Regency frequently experiences flooding due to its insufficient capacity. This study aims to analyze flood control measures using hydrological and hydraulic approaches with the HEC-RAS 6.4.1 software. The data used include maximum rainfall, river cross-section profiles, and land use. The planned flood discharge was calculated using the Nakayasu Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (SUH) method, resulting in a peak discharge of 442.823 m³/s. The analysis results indicate that 81% of the river cross-sections are prone to overflow. Proposed control measures include river normalization and the construction of levees and parapet walls. River normalization is planned for the entire river body, while levees and parapet walls are proposed at critical points to enhance the river's capacity. This study provides recommendations for more effective flood control planning in the future.

Abstract

The Upper Brantas Watershed (DAS Brantas Hulu) in Batu City plays a vital role in the hydrological system of East Java. However, it is currently classified as critical due to extensive land use changes. Over the past five years, the increasing frequency of floods including 18 events in a single month in 2023 indicates severe environmental degradation. This study aims to analyze land use changes in 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024; and  examine the correlation between these changes and the increase in surface runoff discharge. The methodology involves spatial analysis of land use change using ArcGIS 10.8 and calculation of surface runoff discharge using the SCS-CN hydrograph method. Curve Number (CN) values were determined based on land cover characteristics and soil types, while rainfall data were processed through frequency analysis, consistency testing, and probability distribution fitting. The results indicate a significant reduction in natural infiltration areas, such as primary forest (−3.3%) and secondary forest (−5.6%), along with an increase in impervious surfaces, including settlements (+30.9%) and industrial areas (+63.2%). These changes contributed to higher CN values and increased surface runoff, thereby elevating flood risks in the Upper Brantas Watershed. The findings emphasize the urgent need to control land conversion as part of sustainable spatial planning and disaster mitigation strategies.

Abstract

Drought frequently occurs in Trenggalek Regency, with Prambon Village being one of the affected areas. The prolonged droughts in Prambon Village cause the water sources to dry up. As the population increases, so does the water demand. This study used arithmetic methods to project the population size until 2032. To assess the availability of water, the study used the F.J. Mock method and direct testing. According to the F.J. Mock method, the water balance indicated a surplus, projecting that the available water supply would meet the villagers' needs through 2032. However, the water balance based on data from the PKPLH Department and direct testing shows a deficit, insufficient to meet the population's needs until 2032. To address this issue, the conservation of water resources is necessary, involving the construction of spring protections, tree planting, and rainwater harvesting to ensure that the water needs of Prambon Village residents are met. This research serves as a reference for clean water utilization in Trenggalek Regency.
