Abstract

The outbreak of several diseases in the community makes it uncomfortable to live. One of them is dengue fever (DHF) which is currently being felt by the people of Sepinggan Village, RT. 33 Balikpapan. The origin of the emergence of mosquitoes is due to people's lifestyles that are not clean, such as puddles/floods, lack of lighting, messy and dirty goods. Based on the SWOT analysis conducted by the team together with the Sepinggan village head, the planting of TOGA creates many future opportunities that can be widely applied, especially in tackling DHF. Thematic parks here are more focused on making TOGA places with attractive and beautiful designs. Besides that, in order to complete the thematic garden, a hydroponic pakcoy planting medium is also made that can be used by the community or commercialized. The purpose of this activity is to make efforts to reduce dengue cases by using TOGA as a mosquito repellent plant. In addition, the benefits of TOGA can also be directly used as a kitchen spice and health. Moreover, when the product is worthy of sale, the product can be sold by the public. In addition, RT 33 of the Sepinggan sub-district can also be better known by the public thanks to mass media articles, seminars and aftermovie videos. Keywords: TOGA, Thematic Park, Sepingan Village

Abstract

Dissolved oxygen (DO) is a critical parameter in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) aquaculture, as low DO levels can cause stress, inhibit growth, and lead to fish mortality. Conventional measurement methods, such as manual titration or DO meters, are limited because they cannot provide continuous or real-time monitoring. Therefore, this study aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based dissolved oxygen monitoring system using the Waterfall development method to maintain optimal water quality in carp ponds. The system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller, a DO sensor, and the Blynk platform as a real-time remote monitoring interface. It continuously measures DO levels, displays data locally on an LCD, and sends automatic notifications when the DO value falls below 5 mg/L. Field testing was conducted for one week at the Rama Graha carp pond, showing that the system achieved an accuracy of 92.7%, an error rate of 7.3%, and a precision of 98%. The developed system effectively supports farmers in maintaining stable water quality and reducing fish mortality. This study contributes to the development of practical, low-cost IoT technology for sustainable freshwater aquaculture management.

Abstract

Rapid population growth, limited developable land, and rising housing demand create increasing pressure on the urban settlement system in Balikpapan. This study aims to develop a comprehensive model to support sustainable housing planning by examining the interactions among social, economic, and environmental factors.  The study gave strategic optimization in housing and setllement planing in Balikpapan with social, economic, and environmental consideration. A system dynamics model was constructed using causal loop and stock–flow structures to simulate system behavior from 2020 to 2050. Indicator performance was assessed using an entropy-based weighting method, while efficiency was evaluated through a data envelopment analysis approach. Three policy scenarios were tested: economic growth, development of public rental housing, and a combined strategy. The results of the study indicate that the environmental output variable (green open space) experienced a significant decline from 696,800 hectares to 390,599.6 hectares. The results also show that environmental indicators consistently achieved the highest performance, followed by social indicators, while economic indicators remained the weakest due to high development costs. Therefore, recommendations for improvements in the environmental sector can provide better output results. The scenario focused on vertical public housing provides the most balanced outcome, improving social welfare while reducing pressure on land resources. These findings emphasize the importance of integrated policy planning that aligns effectiveness and resource efficiency to support sustainable urban development.
