Abstract

Current technological developments have a great influence on the creation of learning media that support learning outcomes. One of the influences of technological developments is the existence of learning media in the form of powtoon videos. This powtoon video is an IT-based web application that has image and audio features. This powtoon video learning media is very easy to access by teachers so that it can help create interesting learning for students. This study aims to determine 1) the feasibility of powtoon video media, 2) student learning outcomes and 3) student responses to the application of powtoon videos to medium hush cut hair cutting material at SMK Negeri Surabaya. This study uses a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one shoot case study design, involving 31 grade XI Beauty students. Data were obtained through media validation, learning outcome tests, and student response questionnaires. The validation results showed that powtoon media was very feasible to use with an average of 90.33%. The average student learning outcomes reached 86.38 with 58% in the very good category and 42% in the good category. The students' response to this media was also very positive with a percentage of 97.86%. Thus, the powtoon video media is effective in improving students' understanding and skills in learning hair cutting.

Abstract

Lack of diversity in material delivery strategies, limited practical facilities, and not optimal utilization of technology-based media result in the learning process of skills running less effectively, so media development is needed that is able to facilitate learning visually, flexibly, and easily accessible. The purpose of this research is to create learning video media that is valid, practical, and effective for learning evening style bun styling with plaiting techniques. ADDIE was used as the development model in this research. Respondents consisted of 37 students of class XI of the Beauty Cosmetology specialty program. Data collection techniques include observation, cognitive tests, psychomotor assessments, and student response questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Based on the assessment of media, material, and language aspects, an overall average score of 3.66 was obtained which was classified as “very feasible”. (2) Statistical analysis of cognitive results showed an increase in average results reaching 85. Meanwhile, psychomotor learning outcomes showed an average of 86, which is higher than the KKTP 75 indicating that students have achieved overall completeness. (3) With a student response percentage of 90.71%, which is classified in the “very good” category, it can be concluded that this media has a high level of effectiveness in its use. Thus, the video tutorial media for styling evening style bun with plaiting technique is declared feasible to use because it is practical, effective and gets a positive response from students.

Abstract

Manual henna techniques which are popular in the world of bridal makeup, still have limitations in terms of technique and time efficiency, and the patterns used tend to be monotonous. One alternative to manual henna that can be developed is the use of molding as a more practical and efficient solution. This study aims to create henna molding works inspired by Melayu's bridal fashion and accessories as a form of innovation in bridal makeup art and an effort to preserve Indonesian cultural heritage. The method used is Practice-Led Research, which includes the stages of exploration, design, realization, and evaluation of the work. The design ideas were taken from the bamboo shoot and clove flower motifs on Siak songket fabric, as well as the tanjung flower from Bangka Melayu's bridal accessories. The design was created with aesthetic principles in mind and adjusted to the average size of an adult Indonesian woman's palm. The production process involved manual and digital sketching, followed by laser cutting on Oracal sticker material. The work was then packaged as a complete molding product, including complementary materials such as henna paste, glitter, and gemstones. The evaluation of the work was conducted by 33 respondents, comprising lecturers and students from the Makeup Design Program. The assessment results showed that Rayana Henna's molding work was rated very good in terms of design suitability with the source of ideas, pattern aesthetics, ease of use, and suitability as a complementary cosmetics product. Thus, Rayana Henna's molding has the potential to become an innovation in the world of bridal cosmetics as well as a means of preserving Melayu cultural heritage for the wider community. Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini dilaksanakan untuk menjawab kebutuhan peningkatan keterampilan kewirausahaan siswa SMA Negeri 1 Karas Magetan, yang merupakan salah satu sekolah pelaksana program Double Track Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Jawa Timur. Program Double Track dirancang untuk membekali siswa dengan keterampilan praktis, namun dalam praktiknya akses terhadap pelatihan kecantikan tradisional masih sangat terbatas. Padahal, keterampilan ini berpotensi menjadi bekal penting bagi siswa untuk menghadapi dunia kerja maupun merintis usaha mandiri. Menyadari kondisi tersebut, tim PKM Prodi S1 Pendidikan Tata Rias Universitas Negeri Surabaya menyelenggarakan pelatihan pembuatan sanggul Solo Putri. Keterampilan ini tidak hanya bernilai seni, tetapi juga memiliki peluang ekonomi yang signifikan dalam industri tata rias pengantin berbasis kearifan lokal. Pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) dengan tahapan mengenali kebutuhan (to know), mengidentifikasi masalah dan peluang (to find), merancang program (to plan), melaksanakan pelatihan (to act), serta melakukan refleksi hasil (to reflect). Pelatihan yang dilaksanakan pada 30 Juli 2025 diikuti 20 siswa kelas XI peminatan tata rias, yang menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi selama proses berlangsung. Hasil kegiatan memperlihatkan respon adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan teknis siswa dalam pembuatan sanggul Solo Putri, sekaligus memperkuat apresiasi mereka terhadap seni tradisional sebagai aset budaya. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga berhasil menumbuhkan motivasi kewirausahaan, terutama dalam jasa tata rias pengantin berbasis budaya Jawa. Dengan demikian, program ini tidak hanya berkontribusi pada pelestarian budaya lokal, tetapi juga mendorong lahirnya generasi muda yang kreatif, mandiri, dan berdaya saing. Ke depan, keberlanjutan program dapat difokuskan pada penguatan manajemen usaha dan strategi pemasaran agar keterampilan siswa mampu memberikan nilai tambah ekonomi yang berkelanjutan.
