Abstract

This study aimed to analyze Muslim entrepreneurs' work ethic who can directly contribute to the City's economic growth where they live, namely Tasikmalaya City of West Java of Indonesia. The City is a religious city, so its residents, including business people, base their lives on Islam. Numerous Islamic education institutions are enormous and continue to increase yearly; it is also characterized by regional regulations that impose Islamic law in the City. This study used a qualitative method with an anthropological approach. This approach was necessary because this work ethic was related to specific human activities. This study found that Muslim entrepreneurs' work ethic in Tasikmalaya city could be categorized as high by adhering to honesty, discipline, respect for time, working sincerely, adhering to procedures, and submitting reports on time. Besides, hard work was also an essential ethos for work success. However, hard work here also means worship. Based on the principle of monotheism, work is an investment and buying and selling with God, namely by always giving charity as savings for heaven. This study confirmed the linkage between religion and work ethic found by Max Weber and its correlation to the Muslim community in the religious city of Tasikmalaya. This study explores the work behavior of Muslim traders and their employees to encourage integrity, a sense of responsibility, quality, self-discipline, and teamwork in job releases that determine whether a strong work ethic or a weak work ethic contributes to the level of performance.

Abstract

When we talk about the topic of the spiritual dimension of tourism, one of the most important issues to ask is how people search for the meaning of their lives, as well as their subjective experience and sense of connectedness, when they are away from home. In fact, there is a close relationship between tourism and religion, which is and has always been a significant driving force behind travel, from the early days of pilgrimage to modern day trips to holy places. Followers of religions with strong belief systems, as well as travelers with only a passing interest in the topic, consider religious sites, rituals, festivals and ceremonies to be among the most important attractions. People who have recently started participating in spiritually-driven experiences, as well as people who want to build sustainable greatness through travel, have made spiritual tourism experiences increasingly popular. It is possible that these qualities are the main cause of the recent surge in popularity of this trend. In contrast to common conceptions of pilgrimages and religious tourism, traveling can be beneficial to one's spiritual development for a number of different reasons. Despite the fact that religious tourism and the spiritual connection to a location are wide-ranging, few scholars have investigated the complex interactions between religion, spirituality and environmentally responsible tourism. The social, societal and ecological implications of (mass) religious tourism is a topic that has received relatively little attention in the world of academic research. Some authors have highlighted the adverse impact that religious tourism has on the commercialization of places and objects that were previously considered sacred. Researchers should pay attention to the commodification of religious symbols and the economic implications of selling these symbols as the world becomes more consumer-oriented

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the analysis of basic food demand in the holy month of Ramadhan (Case Study at Baru Market Cikatomas 2022-2024). The method used is qualitative research. The sample in this study were market traders in Cikatomas. The sampling technique used Snowball Sampling technique, This study explores the factors that cause the increase in basic food prices during the month of Ramadhan, focusing on the seasonal increase in demand. The study found that price spikes are caused by the tradition of preparing special dishes, increased income, as well as other factors such as production and distribution costs and import policies. After periods of peak demand, prices tend to stabilize or decline. Changes in consumption patterns and cultural values also affect the price dynamics of groceries, with consumers tending to buy high-quality foodstuffs during the holy month despite the increased prices. The study identified that factors such as price speculation by large traders and increased consumption of chicken meat and eggs contributed to the price spike. The findings illustrate how cultural and social values influence consumption patterns and prices of basic food items during these special periods, and provide insights into how price fluctuations can be managed by considering seasonality, production and distribution factors.

Abstract

The construction of a new road in Purbaratu District, Tasikmalaya, represents a significant case for studying infrastructure's impact on local economies. This study examines how the new road affects local mendong handicraft artisans and roadside vendors. Using a mixed-method approach, the research finds that while accessibility has improved, the benefits have not been evenly distributed. Artisans face marketing and raw material supply challenges, while vendors struggle with spatial regulation and legality. The study highlights the necessity of zoning policies, digital adaptation training, and the development of community-based entrepreneurship ecosystems through multi-stakeholder collaboration. These findings underscore the need for synergy between physical infrastructure and socio-economic capacity building to ensure inclusive and sustainable development outcomes.

Abstract

The increasing volume of waste has become a significant challenge in efforts to maintain environmental sustainability. This article proposes the concept of "Trash Charity" as an innovative approach to address waste management issues while encouraging active community involvement. Trash Charity integrates social, economic, and environmental values by encouraging people to donate recyclable waste as a form of charity. This concept not only aims to reduce waste but also empowers communities through the economic value of waste management. This approach involves collaboration among communities, religious institutions, non-governmental organizations, and local governments to create a sustainable system. By emphasizing the importance of education and public awareness, the Trash Charity model has proven effective in increasing community participation, generating social benefits, and supporting the circular economy. The article also presents case studies and empirical data that demonstrate the positive impact of implementing this concept in various regions. Ultimately, Trash Charity offers a practical and ethical solution to waste problems, creating added value for the environment and strengthening social solidarity. This study recommends further development of this model for broader application as part of a national waste management strategy.
