Abstract

The maritime industry, a cornerstone of global trade and commerce, relies heavily on effective communication, primarily through Maritime English. Ensuring safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance on international waters necessitates proficiency in this standardized form of English. Despite its critical role, many maritime professionals struggle with Maritime English, especially speaking and critical thinking skills. This study explores how facilitated critical thinking in speaking can enhance Maritime English proficiency. Facilitated critical thinking involves instructional strategies that promote analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of information through interactive dialogues, problem-solving tasks, reflective practice, and collaborative learning. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative and qualitative phases, to examine these strategies among maritime students and professionals. Results from paired samples statistics, correlations, and t-tests indicate significant improvements in speaking proficiency and critical thinking skills following the intervention. The findings suggest that integrating critical thinking into language instruction effectively addresses the unique challenges maritime professionals face, ultimately enhancing communication and safety in the maritime industry

Abstract

Communication between the two is done using a handy talky. Communication between langsir officers and train travel organizers is one of the most influential communications in train operations. In (PM No. 45 of 2018) concerning the technical requirements of railway telecommunications equipment, it is stated that at least lansiran communication meets the operating system requirements, every conversation must be recorded. There is currently no recording device for alert communication at Tegal station, while the alert process at Tegal station occurs at least 8 times a day.In this study, an application was made to record the voice of the langsiran communication to record all communications made by the langsir officer and the train travel controller. By taking voice data from the handy talky which is used as a master, then it is connected using a series of interfaces via a cable jack on a PC that has installed a voice recording application for langsiran communication that has been made with Microsoft Visual Studio. The recorded data that has been obtained is processed and stored in a MySQL database with the phpMyAdmin interface. From the test results, the designed software can be run properly, can automatically record alert communication, the stored data can be searched based on the recording code and recording date, and the recorded recordings can be played back and show the recording time

Abstract

Lemah Abang Station is a station located in Cikarang, this station is used for Cikarang-Cikampek, Cikarang-Purwakarta trips and KRL trips. To support the general national energy plan (RUEN) through Presidential Regulation No.79 of 2014, the Government of Indonesia has set a policy of increasing the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix to 23% by 2025. To support this effort, PLN's electrical power is converted to solar panels. This can be seen from the abundant solar energy potential in Cikarang, namely 5,040 Kwh/m2/day with a total duration of 2-9 hours of solar radiation per day. The solar panels that will be made have a capacity of 20 kWp using 48 units of 450Wp solar panels. Other components needed are a 20 kW inverter, 8 12V 200Ah batteries, kWh Exim, Solar Charger. Based on the economic analysis, the cheapest energy cost is 1762/kWh. In addition, the investment analysis for the construction of solar panels with the NPV, IRR, PI, and DPP methods is declared feasible to be carried out.
