Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven a paradigm shift in school learning, including the implementation of hybrid learning as an effort to integrate offline and online learning. This study aims to describe the implementation of hybrid learning and analyze the synergy between lecture and discussion methods in learning practices at SMA Negeri 3 Selong. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques included learning observation, interviews with teachers, and documentation of learning activities. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that hybrid learning is implemented by combining face-to-face learning as the main activity and online learning as a support. The lecture method is used to convey basic concepts and build initial understanding among students, while the discussion method is used to increase participation and deepen understanding of the learning material. The synergy between the lecture and discussion methods creates a more focused, participatory, interactive, and meaningful learning process. Hybrid learning in this study is not only the use of technology, but also a pedagogical strategy in integrating learning methods in a balanced manner. The findings of this study show that proper planning and management of learning methods are the key to the success of hybrid learning in the digital age.

Abstract

The development of the internet has expanded history learning resources beyond textbooks and teacher explanations, yet its use in madrasahs remains influenced by facilities, teacher competence, and supervision of digital devices. This study analyzes the role and impact of internet technology on history learning at MA NWDI Gereneng, East Sakra, East Lombok. It employed a descriptive qualitative design with an ethnographic orientation. Data were collected through observation, interviews with the principal, history teachers, and students, and documentation from October to November 2022. The data were analyzed by organizing, selecting, categorizing, and interpreting field evidence. The findings show that the internet functions as an additional learning resource, a means of instructional communication, a medium for distance learning, and a driver of learning motivation. It enables students to access Indonesian and world history materials more rapidly and compensates for limited printed worksheets. Its positive impacts include broader knowledge, greater learning autonomy, efficient reference searching, and more varied presentation of historical content. Nevertheless, internet use also creates risks of distraction and access to irrelevant content, requiring teacher supervision, device-use rules, and stronger digital literacy. The effectiveness of internet technology therefore depends not merely on access, but on instructional design, source curation, and pedagogical guidance. Internet use should be directed from simple information searching toward critical, contextual, and responsible history learning.

Abstract

This study reconstructs the historical genealogy, ritual sequence, cultural values, and preservation mechanisms of Praja Mulud in Ramban Biak Village, Lenek District, East Lombok. The tradition is an annual community celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth that combines Islamic devotion, Sasak cultural expressions, collective food preparation, the procession of Sabuk Belo, pepaosan, medicinal-oil making, religious instruction, and social care. A qualitative historical method was applied through four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were obtained from observation, documentation, and interviews with customary, religious, community, youth, and village-government figures. The findings show that the exact beginning of Praja Mulud cannot be fixed to a single date because its history survives through plural oral memories. Nevertheless, collective narratives consistently connect its development with the Yayasan Amal Saleh and the leadership legacy of the late Rahil. The tradition endures because it functions simultaneously as religious commemoration, embodied historical memory, social solidarity, intergenerational education, and community identity. Its continuity is supported by voluntary participation and differentiated community roles, but it is challenged by generational distance, inconsistent institutional support, contested religious interpretations, limited documentation, and the risk of reducing living heritage to spectacle. Sustainable safeguarding therefore requires community ownership, youth apprenticeship, systematic oral-history and audiovisual documentation, transparent village collaboration, and cautious cultural promotion that protects ritual authority and local meaning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the existence of Bale Beleq and efforts to maintain customs and culture in the Bale Beleq celebration in Wakan Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency. The research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research type. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that Bale Beleq still exists and is visited by various groups of people who want to make pilgrimages and carry out traditional rituals. Customs continue to be carried out according to the traditions of predecessors, while community culture is maintained through values of mutual cooperation, friendship, togetherness, sharing, and shared responsibility. Efforts to maintain the existence of Bale Beleq are carried out by instilling positive values contained in the celebration, namely monotheism values, piety values, and tolerance values. These values become social adhesive that prevents differences of opinion among the community. This study recommends systematic documentation and cultural education for the younger generation to ensure the sustainability of the Bale Beleq tradition amidst modernization.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the existence of Belian Sasak as a traditional alternative medicine amidst the advancement of modern medical treatment and its impact on the community in Dasan Ketangga, Kembang Sari, East Lombok. Using qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach, this study involved in-depth interviews with four Belian Sasak, community leaders, and service users. The results show that Belian Sasak traditional medicine still exists and is trusted by the community despite increasingly sophisticated medical treatments. The main factors maintaining this existence are family factors and belief in ancestral heritage. The impacts of Belian Sasak's existence include: (1) helping the community in terms of treatment costs because there is no fixed tariff; (2) serving as an alternative treatment for diseases that cannot be cured medically, especially those caused by spiritual factors; and (3) preserving ancestral knowledge about traditional medicinal plants. This study concludes that Belian Sasak not only functions as a healer but also as an agent of local wisdom preservation that plays an important role in the Sasak community's health system.

Abstract

This study examines the struggle of TGH Mahsun in fighting for independence in Danger Village, Masbagik Subdistrict, East Lombok, during the period 1942-1946. TGH Mahsun was a charismatic Islamic preacher and freedom fighter who played a significant role in the resistance against Japanese occupation and the subsequent NICA forces in Lombok. Using historical research methods comprising heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography, this study collected data through interviews with key informants including family members and community leaders, as well as through observation of physical remains. The findings reveal that TGH Mahsun was born in 1907 in Danger Village, received his early education locally, and furthered his Islamic studies in Mecca from 1936 to 1940. Upon his return, he established the Rabittah Islamic boarding school and spread Islamic teachings across East Lombok. During the independence struggle, he led the Banteng Hitam forces based in Danger Village and participated in the attack on Selong on June 7, 1946. The struggle resulted in significant impacts, particularly in education through the establishment of educational institutions that continue to exist today, as well as in social and religious spheres. This research contributes to the documentation of local history and enriches the understanding of the role of religious figures in Indonesia's independence movement.

Abstract

The nyongkolan tradition is an important part of the Sasak marriage cycle because it operates simultaneously as a customary event, a space for social encounter, and a public medium for announcing the legitimacy of a married couple. This study reconstructs the history and ritual process of nyongkolan in Kotaraja Village, analyzes the shifting cultural values embedded in the tradition, and explains its social and economic consequences. A historical method was employed through heuristics, source criticism, pluralistic interpretation, and historiography. Data were collected from observations, documents, and interviews with 13 informants, including village officials, customary and religious leaders, community figures, young people, women, and cultural-economy actors, between February and August 2023. The findings show that local collective memory associates nyongkolan with historical Balinese influence and narratives of the village founders, while the ritual itself consists of pre-procession, procession, and post-procession stages. It embodies the values of public religious communication, tolerance, mutual cooperation, social bonding, and courtesy. The most visible shift concerns the value of public announcement: marriage recognition, formerly materialized through bodily presence and a public procession, is increasingly replaced or complemented by modern receptions and digital communication. This change is driven by modernization, household economic capacity, and habits formed during COVID-19 restrictions. Its consequences include concerns about social suspicion, reduced public entertainment and symbolic recognition for the couple, and declining income for make-up artists, traditional-clothing rental providers, and gendang beleq groups. The study argues that nyongkolan should be preserved adaptively by maintaining its relational functions while simplifying costly ceremonial components.

Abstract

Traditional dance is a cultural archive that preserves the knowledge, values, and life orientation of its supporting community. This study examines the history of the Gagak Mandiq Dance, identifies local wisdom represented through its performance elements, and analyzes its relevance to the social life of the Lenek Daya community in East Lombok. A qualitative field-research design was employed. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with nine informants representing the village government, art studio management, performers, community leaders, residents, and youth, as well as documentation. Data analysis involved reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, while source and technique triangulation were used to strengthen credibility. The findings show that Amaq Raya created the Gagak Mandiq Dance in 1956 after observing a crow bathing. The movements of ngindang, nyengkeng, bowing, flapping, trembling, and cleansing the body form a symbolic system that communicates balance between humans and nature, ecological awareness, humility, patience, courage, physical and spiritual purity, togetherness, mutual cooperation or besiru, and proper conduct. These values remain relevant because they are connected to the practices of besiru and begibung, character education for younger generations, religiosity, communal identity, and village social activities. Preservation through the Teruna Bebadosan Art Studio, village-government support, education, digital documentation, and adaptive performance packaging is therefore necessary. Adaptation should improve accessibility and attractiveness without separating the dance from the meanings, memories, and social practices through which the Lenek Daya community recognizes it as a living cultural identity.

Abstract

This study analyzes the social and economic roles and continued existence of Tembe Nggoli woven cloth among the Mbojo community in Sangia Village, Sape District, Bima Regency. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through field observations, structured and unstructured interviews, and documentation. Informants included community elders, senior and active women weavers, and village officials. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification. The findings show that Tembe Nggoli has a dual position as cultural heritage and a source of livelihood. Socially, it functions as a marker of Mbojo identity, a symbol of honor, a medium for transmitting values, and an important element in customary ceremonies, weddings, religious activities, and the Rimpu dressing tradition. Social change has broadened its use from selected social groups to the wider community and contemporary fashion, although this democratization has reduced part of its former sacred character. Economically, weaving provides primary or supplementary income for women, supports household needs and children's education, and creates opportunities in the creative economy and cultural tourism. The continuity of Tembe Nggoli is constrained by weak intergenerational regeneration, lengthy production, limited marketing capacity, and competition from modern textiles. Strengthening weavers' organizations, innovating products without separating motifs from their cultural meanings, documenting local knowledge, utilizing natural dyes, and expanding digital marketing are therefore essential to connect cultural preservation with sustainable community welfare.

Abstract

Rudat is a Sasak performing art in which religious expression, movement aesthetics, and communal solidarity converge. This study reconstructs the development of Rudat in Sakra Timur District from 1999 to 2020, explains identity construction through safeguarding practices, and interprets the philosophical values embedded in lyrics, movements, and costumes. A qualitative historical approach was employed through heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were collected through observations of rehearsals and performances in Gelanggang, Gereneng, and North Surabaya villages; semi-structured interviews with eight informants comprising senior performers, community figures, youth, and a local government representative; and the examination of documents, photographs, group notes, and lyric texts. Source and method triangulation strengthened the credibility of the findings. The results indicate that the local Rudat group can be traced to 1979, while the 1999-2020 period developed through five phases: transition, consolidation, creativity, professionalization, and early regeneration amid new challenges. Changes from rebana to kelentang, reong, and gamelan, along with improved costumes and wider performance spaces, did not eliminate core elements; instead, they enabled the community to negotiate continuity and change. Rudat identity was sustained primarily through community self-help, while school and government involvement increased but remained uneven. Religious lyrics, five foundational movements, and costumes functioned as a symbolic system affirming monotheism, civility, unity, courage, simplicity, and an Islamic-Sasak identity. The study concludes that safeguarding Rudat is an adaptive cultural process rather than an attempt to freeze tradition in a single form.
