Abstract

Intuition has a big role when the analytic (formal) thinking process does not have the ability to reach it to the problems at hand. The presence of this intuition is spontaneous, immediate and sudden, and sometimes unpredictable. However, its presence is not suddenly but supported by the knowledge and experience, skills and skills possessed, through perceptions and feelings. In this context, intuition serves to facilitate the realm of the mind and makes it easy to understand and solve problems (red mathematical problems) in addition to the role of analytical and formal thinking is also required. Thus, intuition can be a means of opening the gates of ideas or ideas of solution discovery before formal steps are done analytically. The author seeks to illustrate the frameworks of these two forms of thinking (intuitive-analytical) inseparable from one another, but they give benefit from each other in the cycle of mathematical problem-solving.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skill is very important for university students because through communication, students can convey their mathematical ideas, knowledge and arguments. However, the facts show that the written mathematical communication skills of students majoring in Mathematics Education at IAIN Tulungagung are classified as low. The low written mathematical communication skill of students is indicated by errors in writing mathematical symbols on an equation and unsystematic writing of the steps to solve mathematical problems. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model using Google Classroom media to improve the written mathematical communication skill of IAIN Tulungagung students. Several previous researchers have reviewed the use of Google Classroom in learning, but it was not integrated with the TPS learning model and did not focus on the influence on students' mathematical communication skill. The study sample was 40 students of the 5th semester in 2019/2020 academic year majoring in Mathematics Education at IAIN Tulungagung who took the Differential Equation course. The data collection was carried out by providing a pretest and posttest before and after implementing the learning using the TPS model with Google Classroom media. Then, the data from the pretest and posttest results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test because the data were not normally distributed. The results of this study showed that the TPS learning model using Google Classroom media could improve the students' mathematical communication skill.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe students' critical thinking in solving geometry problems based on Honey & Mumford's learning styles. The research approach is a qualitative research with a descriptive exploratory research type. The subjects in this study were students of the Mathematics Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN SATU Tulungagung, semester 1. First, the critical thinking of subjects in solving geometry problems based on the learning styles of activist and reflective groups is in the fairly critical category. Second, the critical thinking of subjects in solving geometry problems based on the reflective group learning style and category theory is quite critical. Third, the subject's critical thinking in solving geometry problems based on the learning styles of the theoretical and pragmatic groups in the critical category. Fourth, critical thinking of subjects in solving geometry problems based on the learning styles of the pragmatic and activist groups in the critical category.

Abstract

In the process of solving math problems/problems, especially in the matter of relations and functions, between one student and another student must have a different mental process. Students' mathematical abilities in solving problems quickly and immediately are influenced by mental activity that is supported by intuitive thinking. Students who find it difficult to solve math problems with analytical (formal) abilities will use their intuition to help solve problems. So the purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of students' intuitive thinking used in solving relations and function problems which are viewed from the mathematical abilities of each level of mathematical ability. Researchers use qualitative methods in this study. The results of the data analysis show that: (1) students who have high mathematical abilities in working on relations and function problems involve the characteristics of intuitive thinking globality, status theory, self-evidence, and coerciveness; (2) students who have mathematical abilities are working on relations and function problems involving the characteristics of intuitive thinking theory status, globality, and implicitness; and (3) students who have low mathematical ability in working on relations and function questions involve the characteristics of intuitive thinking extrapolativeness, self-evidence, and globality.. Dalam proses menyelesaikan masalah/soal matematika, khususnya pada materi relasi dan fungsi, antara siswa satu dan siswa lainnya pasti memiliki proses mental yang berbeda. Kemampuan matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah dengan cepat dan segera dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas mental yang didukung oleh pemikiran intuitif. Siswa yang merasa kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika dengan kemampuan analitis (formal) akan menggunakan intuisinya untuk membantu memecahkan masalah. Maka tujuan dari penelitian ini mendeskripsikan karakteristik berpikir intuitif dari siswa yang digunakan dalam menyelesaikan soal relasi dan fungsi yang mana ditinjau dari kemampuan matematika dari masing - masing jenjang kemampuan matematika. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam penelitian ini. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa: (1) siswa yang memiliki kemampuan matematika tinggi dalam mengerjakan soal relasi dan fungsi melibatkan karakteristik berpikir intuitif globality, theory status, self evidence, dan coerciveness; (2) siswa yang memiliki kemampuan matematika sedang dalam mengerjakan soal relasi dan fungsi melibatkan karakteristik berpikir intuitif theory status, globality, dan implicitness; dan (3) siswa yang memiliki kemampuan matematika rendah dalam mengerjakan soal relasi dan fungsi melibatkan karakteristik berpikir intuitif extrapolativeness, self-evidence, dan globality.

Abstract

Abstract: The growth of digital technology has resulted in huge changes in many aspects of life, including the tourist industry. This study seeks to analyse the influence of digitalisation, as assessed by two independent variables, namely digital literacy and the use of digital material, on Islamic tourism decisions among Generation Z in East Java. This study employs a quantitative method with a population of Generation Z in East Java. The sample approach used was accidental sampling, with 402 respondents chosen using the Slovin formula. Primary data was collected using a questionnaire designed to measure digital literacy, digital content consumption, and sharia tourism choices. The SEM-PLS model was used to examine data to assess the degree to which digital literacy and digital content utilisation impact Generation Z's decision to visit Sharia, both directly and indirectly.This study's findings indicate that digital literacy and the consumption of digital material both have a significant influence on the decision to visit Sharia Tourism Generation Z in East Java. Experience with digital material for tourism can mitigate the impact of varying tourism digital literacy on Sharia tourist decisions. The findings of this study are likely to help Sharia tourism industry operators optimise digitalisation efforts in order to improve Generation Z interest in and decision-making regarding Sharia tourism. Keywords: generation z; sharia tourism decisions; digitalization. Abstrak: Pertumbuhan teknologi digital telah menyebabkan perubahan besar dalam banyak aspek kehidupan, termasuk industri pariwisata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh digitalisasi, yang dinilai dari dua variabel independen, yaitu literasi digital dan penggunaan materi digital, terhadap keputusan pariwisata Islam di kalangan Generasi Z di Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan populasi Generasi Z di Jawa Timur. Pendekatan sampel yang digunakan adalah sampling aksidental, dengan 402 responden yang dipilih menggunakan rumus Slovin. Data primer dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner yang dirancang untuk mengukur literasi digital, konsumsi konten digital, dan pilihan pariwisata syariah. Model SEM-PLS digunakan untuk menganalisis data guna menilai sejauh mana literasi digital dan pemanfaatan konten digital mempengaruhi keputusan Generasi Z untuk mengunjungi Pariwisata Syariah, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa literasi digital dan konsumsi materi digital memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap keputusan untuk mengunjungi Pariwisata Syariah oleh Generasi Z di Jawa Timur. Pengalaman dengan materi digital untuk pariwisata dapat membantu mengurangi dampak perbedaan literasi digital pariwisata terhadap keputusan pariwisata syariah. Temuan dari penelitian ini dapat membantu operator industri pariwisata syariah untuk mengoptimalkan upaya digitalisasi guna meningkatkan minat dan pengambilan keputusan Generasi Z terkait pariwisata syariah. Abstract

Controversial issues have the potential to stimulate differences or cognitive conflicts in problem-solving, both in terms of approach, argumentation, and the solutions produced. Resolving cognitive conflict can be done not only through conventional logical thinking but also by understanding objects that encompass facts, concepts, principles, and skills, as well as considering external aspects surrounding the problem. This study aims to explore the controversy reasoning problems of university students in solving multiple representation problems. This research is a case study with a qualitative approach. The selected subjects were students who experienced controversy in solving multiple representation problems. The instruments used were tests and interviews. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. There are three levels of controversial reasoning: clarification level, exploration level, and initial level. Among 99 students solving multiple representation problems, the results showed that 19 students (19.19%) were at the initial level, 45 students (45.45%) at the exploration level, and 35 students (35.35%) at the clarification level. Qualitatively, controversial reasoning at the clarification level is the best compared to the exploration and initial levels. The advantage of subjects at the clarification level is that, besides understanding the problem, their algorithmic skills are highly structured. These subjects are also able to provide concise, logical arguments and find the correct solution.

Abstract

Indeed, it was inevitable that there is a correlation between religion and mathematics. It is shown that the relationship between the science of religion based on the Qur’an with science and mathematics. Mathematical understanding by most people is known as an exact science. Certainty in mathematics is defined as a clear. Meaning, there are clear rules, regulations, laws, formulas, and steps that are logical. Similarly, in fiqh (Islamic law) also governs the conduct and governance of worship which clearly and unequivocally based on the arguments described by the Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. Hadith form. Thus, based on the similarity of the nature and character of course mathematics has contributed positively to the context of jurisprudence which became amaliah Muslims in daily life, for example, in determining the amount of water two kulah, counting prayers, calculating zakat, the division of inheritance rights, counting favors (reward), and so forth. Whether consciously or not, the presence of mathematics provides a significant contribution by helping to make it easier to resolve the problem through the formulation of instructions or a simple formula. The objective is to study on the contribution of mathematics in the context of fiqh.

Abstract

This study originates from the academic need to explore the dimensions of Javanese Islamic ethics and spirituality within the moral thought of Sosrokartono, a Nusantara intellectual who bridged Western scholarship and Eastern wisdom. Sosrokartono was renowned not only for his mastery of multiple languages but also for his worldview that reflected a synthesis of universal moral values and Islamic spirituality rooted in Javanese culture. The urgency of this research lies in revealing the relevance of Sosrokartono’s thought to the formation of ethical and spiritual character in modern Indonesian society. The study employs a historical research method with a qualitative interpretative approach, encompassing the stages of heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography, as developed by Nugroho Notosusanto. The findings indicate that Sosrokartono’s moral philosophy embodies Javanese Islamic values such as ngelmu kasampurnan (the pursuit of perfection), laku prihatin (ascetic discipline), and tepa selira (empathy and tolerance), integrated with universal human ethics. The novelty of this research lies in its integrative interpretation of Sosrokartono as a representation of Javanese Islamic ethical spirituality that remains contextually relevant to contemporary moral challenges.
