Abstract

The ideal face shape is oval, one of the non-ideal face shapes is a round face shape. In doing corrective makeup on a round face, the gradation blush application technique is done so that the face looks ideal. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference between vertical and horizontal techniques of gradation blush application and to determine the level of respondents' preference for makeup results. This type of research is experimental research. The samples in this study were 5 women who had round faces and applied gradation blush. The independent variable in this study is the application of blush vertical technique and horizontal technique (X), and the dependent variable is the level of influence of gradation blush application technique (Y). Observations were conducted by 30 expert respondents in the field of Cosmetology and Beauty Science who provided value and liking data using an observation sheet as a research instrument. Data analysis techniques using Independent T-Test and average value. The results of the T Test are known Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.001 (0.001 <0.05), it is concluded that there is a significant difference in the makeup results on round faces to achieve ideal facial makeup using vertical and horizontal techniques of gradation blush application. The respondent's level of liking for the final result of corrective makeup on a round face using the vertical technique of gradation blush application obtained an average value of 3.68 which means that the respondent really likes it than the final result of corrective makeup using horizontal technique. Abstract

Abstract Effective educational tools are crucial in enhancing students' comprehension, abilities, and academic results. One creative option is interactive flipbooks, which deliver content in a more visual and engaging manner. The objective of this research is to evaluate the viability of flipbook media, assess its impact on educational outcomes, and explore student feedback regarding its application. The study adopted a quantitative methodology, involving 26 students from grade XII as participants. It followed an eight-step process, which included (1) identifying potential issues, (2) gathering data, (3) creating a design, (4) validating it, (5) revising the design, (6) conducting trials, (7) refining the product, and (8) testing the implementation. The research framework utilized a One-Group Pretest-Posttest model to assess shifts in learning results. Data collection methods, including observations, learning outcome evaluations, and surveys, were analyzed through averages and t-tests. Findings indicated that the flipbook media achieved a high feasibility rating, with a score of 4.41, categorized as "good." The analysis of improvements in learning outcomes displayed significant changes, showing that the average pre-test score of 53.92 rose to 86.08 in the post-test. Additionally, the practical assessment yielded impressive results, with an average score of 89 and a 100% completion rate. Students provided overwhelmingly positive feedback on this medium, reflected in an average score of 4.55, categorized as "very good." From these results, interactive flipbooks are deemed effective and practical for enhancing students' understanding and skills related to hair cutting techniques using the uniform layer method. Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the extent to which the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can improve students’ cognitive and psychomotor competencies. This research employs a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design, conducted at SMKN 1 Sooko Mojokerto, with 29 eleventh-grade students from the Skin and Hair Beauty program as subjects. Data were collected through cognitive and psychomotor pretest and posttest using test sheets, while non-test data were gathered through observation sheets assesing students’ activities and attitudes. The research instruments included both test and non-test tools, consisting of cognitive-psychomotor test items and observation forms. Data analysis began with the Shapiro-Wilk normality test to ensure a normal distribution (Sig. ≥ 0.05), followed by a Paired Sample t-Test (p < 0.05) to assess the different between pretest and posttest results. Psychomotor scores were calculated based on indicators such as preparation, procedural accuracy, time efficiency, and final results, and were converted to a 0–10 scale. The implementation of the Problem-Based Learning syntax was evaluated based on its percentage of execution. The findings indicate a notable improvement in students’ average cognitive scores, increasing from 53.5% to 87.0%, and a 4.86-point rise in psychomotor scores. Furthermore, the implementation rate of Problem-Based Learning exceeded 80%. These results suggest that the Problem-Based Learning model is effective in enhancing students' conceptual understanding and practical skills. It is recommended that teachers continue refining the application of Problem-Based Learning and conduct regular evaluations to ensure optimal learning outcomes. Abstract

The study's three main goals are to: (1) assess how well the discovery learning model syntax was implemented; (2) examine the learning outcomes of the students; and (3) gauge the reactions of the students to the application of the discovery learning model in the creambath class at SMK Negeri 1 Buduran. With its "One Shot Case Study" approach, this study is classified as pre-experimental. Thirty-three students from SMK Negeri 1 Buduran's class X Beauty 2 served as the research subjects. Cognitive tests, questionnaires to gauge student answers, and observation to evaluate the application of the learning syntax were used to gather data. Three research instruments were employed in this study: a student response questionnaire, a cognitive test sheet, and an observation sheet for the syntax's implementation.With an average score of 3.7, the discovery learning model syntax was applied extremely successfully in the learning activities pertaining to the wet scalp and hair care competency (creambath). Students were well-prepared in terms of knowledge based on the conducted learning, as evidenced by the average score of 86.8 for the cognitive learning outcomes following the application of the discovery learning methodology. When expressed as a percentage, the students' responses produced an overall average score of 36.2, or 91%, which is considered extremely good. The findings suggest that students' comprehension has improved, they found the learning model enjoyable, and they found the discovery learning model simpler to understand, especially when it came to the wet scalp and hair care competency (creambath).

Abstract

Laboratorium sebagai tempat kerja juga harus memperhatikan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja (K3) terutama laboratorium pendidikan. Penelitian ini bermaksud guna menganalisis hubungan antara pengetahuan Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) dengan penerapan K3 pada siswa jurusan Tata Kecantikan di Laboratorium Kulit dan Rambut SMKN 6 Surabaya. Metode yang dipergunakan di penelitian ini ialah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian korelasional. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari siswa kelas X jurusan Tata Kecantikan, dengan sampel sebanyak 32 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang dipergunakan di penelitian ini ialah soal pilihan ganda dan lembar observasi. Analisis data mempergunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment dan Uji Koefisien Determinasi. Temuan penelitian memperlihatkan bahwasannya pengetahuan siswa tentang K3 terkategori sangat baik dengan persentase 90%. Implementasi K3 juga menunjukkan hasil yang sangat baik dengan persentase 94%. Analisis menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson memperlihatkan didapatinya korelasi yang signifikan diantara pengetahuan K3 dan penerapan K3, dengan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,838, yang mengindikasikan hubungan yang sangat kuat. Koefisien determinasi menunjukkan bahwa 70,2% variasi dalam penerapan K3 dapat dijelaskan oleh pengetahuan K3. Berdasar temuan penelitian ini, bisa diambil kesimpulan bahwasannya pengetahuan K3 yang baik berkontribusi positif terhadap penerapan K3 di laboratorium. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi siswa agar terus meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran akan K3 guna menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang sehat dan aman, menciptakan lingkungan laboratorium yang aman bagi siswa di jurusan Tata Kecantikan SMKN 6 Surabaya. Abstract

The low understanding of beauty students at SMKN 3 Kota Kediri regarding knowledge of hair anatomy and phishyology which is the basic of knowledge for practicing hair curling This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of hair anatomy and physiology and the ability to practice hair curling in grade XI students majoring in Beauty at SMKN 3 Kota Kediri. The research methot used is quantitative deskriptive with a correlational approach. The subjects of the study consisted of 30 students, with data collection through knowledge tests and performance/practice observation sheets. The result showed that the average knowledge of student was included in the very good category(87.33%), and the ability to practice was also classified as good with an avarage value of 83.5. The pearson correlation the showed significant relationship between knowledge of hair anatomy and physiology and the ability to practice curling with a correlation value of 0.685 (p < 0,05), Which indicates a strong level of relationship. In conclusion, the higher the students' knowledge of hair anatomy and physiology, the better their curling practice skills.

Abstract

Video tutorials are one form of learning media that can provide a more interesting learning experience and help improve student understanding. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of learning media, measure student learning outcomes, and identify student responses to the use of the media. The type of research used is R&D (Research and Development) the development model used is 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Dissemination). The data collection methods used are observation, psychomotor learning outcome tests, and questionnaires. The data collection instruments used are media feasibility observation sheets, learning outcome test questions, and student response questionnaire sheets. The objects and subjects of this study were film make-up and 36 class XI TKKR 2 SMKN 1 Pogalan students. Data were analyzed using the calculation of average values. The results of the study showed that: (1) Assessment of media feasibility from the aspects of media, materials, and language produced an average score of 4.77 which is included in the "very feasible" category; (2) Students' psychomotor scores reached an average of 86, which exceeded the KKTP of 80, so that it was declared complete overall; (3) Student responses to learning media showed an average score of 4.84 with the category "very appropriate". From these findings, it can be concluded that video tutorial media is very effective for use in the learning process. Abstract

Exposure to UV rays in Indonesia causes skin damage such as premature aging. This research aims to develop a body lotion formulation combining areca nut extract and green tea leaf extract to protect and repair the skin, as well as for the the analysis the effect of the impact of the two extracts on organoleptic properties and determine the best formula based on the preference levels of the panelists. In this study, the method applied is a true experimental design involving 30 panelists from the Makeup Arts Department at State University of Surabaya. Three body lotion formulas were tested based on five organoleptic parameters: aroma, color, adhesion, homogeneity, and preference level. Data processing used one-way ANOVA and Duncan’s subsequent test. The study’s research findings show that the characteristics of color are significantly impacted, homogeneity, and level of preference (p < 0.05), whereas the aroma and adhesion values obtained exceeded the significance threshold, hence the differences are considered not significant (p > 0.05). Formula X3 (0.5 g of areca nut extract and 2 g of green tea extract) is the best formula because it received the highest score in almost all tested parameters.

Abstract

Abstract of Makeup Artist (MUA) services in Indonesia, especially in large cities like Surabaya, has seen remarkable growth in recent years. This study aims to identify which factors are most influential in the decision-making process of potential consumers. The chosen research method is descriptive survey with correlation analysis, and data collection techniques are performed through questionnaires. This research was conducted in Surabaya by distributing questionnaires using a non-probability sampling method with purposive sampling, which refers to samples based on research needs with 50 respondents. The research findings include (1) an overview of the research location, (2) an overview of the respondents that includes age, gender, place of residence, and profession, as well as (3) data regarding factors influencing potential consumers obtained through validity tests and reliability tests that show all variables are reliable and the results of descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that there are seven elements influencing potential consumers' decisions in choosing Makeup Artist (MUA) services in Surabaya, with the dominant factor influencing potential consumers in choosing Makeup Artist (MUA) services being the product and service factors. Through these findings, it is hoped that Makeup Artists (MUA) in Surabaya can continue to maintain and improve the quality of consumer services.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine customer satisfaction in terms of price perception, service quality, and facilities for ombre eyebrow embroidery treatment at BBC hair and beauty studio and the quality of the results of ombre eyebrow embroidery treatment at BBC hair and beauty studio. The type of quantitative descriptive research used by the author in this study. The method used to obtain data is by distributing questionnaires measured by a Likert scale. The Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) method is used to process the results of the analysis. The average value of the customer satisfaction index for the price perception aspect is 0.81 with a very satisfied level of satisfaction, the average value of the customer satisfaction index for the service quality aspect is 0.82 with a very satisfied level of satisfaction, the average value of the customer satisfaction index for the facility aspect is 0.78 with a satisfied level of satisfaction. The highest aspect of customer satisfaction for ombre eyebrow embroidery treatment is the aspect of service satisfaction. The quality of the results obtained an average value of 0.85 with a very satisfied level of satisfaction, so the quality of the eyebrow embroidery treatment results is in accordance with customer expectations.
