Abstract

This study describes the journey and creative process of an artist named Rosid in art using qualitative methods and the Graham Wallas approach. The purpose of this research is to understand how Rosid experiences and deals with the stages in his creative process, as explained by Graham Wallas’ theory. This study was conducted by conducting in-depth interviews and observations with Rosid, who focused on his experiences in creating and the creative processes he experienced. The results of the study show that Rosid’s creative process follows the stages described by Graham Wallas’ theory, namely preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification of reference sources to help form the concept of his artwork. Next. In the preparatory stage, Rosid gathers ideas, inspiration, and sources, in the incubation stage, he gives time for these ideas to “quietly” develop and interact subconsciously before being translated into concrete works. The illumination stage is the time when ideas that have “ripe” appear clearly in Rosid’s mind. This was the time when his creativity was at its peak, and he could clearly formulate concepts and visions for his work. The last stage, namely verification, involves checking and perfecting the work so that it is in accordance with Rosid’s initial vision. This research also reveals that Rosid’s life journey, including his personal experiences and interactions with his environment, played a role in shaping his creative process. The emotional and intellectual experiences Rosid has had in his life have contributed significantly to the richness and depth of his art.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to understand the role of visual art in shaping identity, strengthening communication, and supporting the existence of a new generation of underground music communities in Bandung, with a focus on communities within the ISBI Bandung environment. The study highlights how visual elements such as posters, logos, album covers, and merchandise designs function as mediums of expression, promotion, and representation of the community’s collective values-including the spirit of inclusivity, resistance, and D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself). The research employs a qualitative analytical approach, using data collection techniques such as interviews, participatory observation, and documentation study. Data were gathered from community members and visual artists directly involved in the ISBI Bandung ecosystem. The findings show that collaboration between musicians and visual artists occurs organically, based on friendships, yet maintains a level of professionalism. Visual art plays a crucial role in reinforcing the musical message and expanding the community’s reach into digital spaces, particularly through social media platforms like Instagram. Beyond its aesthetic function, visual art serves as an effective communication tool that bridges artistic and social experiences between the community and the public. This research affirms that visual art is a fundamental element in shaping an alternative cultural ecosystem amid the currents of globalization and the dominance of popular culture.

Abstract

This community service program was initiated in response to the limited capacity of painters in Jelekong Village to address the growing demand of the Muslim market for artworks that reflect Islamic values. The program focused on the application of Islamic decorative motifs as a strategy for product innovation and sales enhancement. The objective of this program was to improve the painters’ skills in incorporating Islamic decorative motifs into their artworks while expanding market segmentation. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through the KUPAR stages (to know, to understand, to plan, to action, and to reflection), implemented through training, mentoring, and evaluation involving 20 painters in Jelekong Village. The results revealed that 90% of participants were able to apply Islamic motifs, including calligraphic, geometric, and floral designs, in their paintings; 80% of participants began utilizing social media as a marketing tool; and 60% successfully developed new products in the form of paintings based on Islamic decorative arts. The program contributed to the enhancement of participants’ skills, product diversification, market expansion, and the strengthening of painters’ competitiveness within a creative economy framework rooted in cultural traditions and Islamic values.
