Abstract

Mining activities can cause environmental damage, and needs land rehabilitation efforts. One approach to land rehabilitation after mine is with repairing the ecosystem condition by improving the quality of the soil, with increase fertility and enriching soil nutrient content by providing a biofertilizer from microbe, such as mycorrhizal fungi.  This study aims to determine the potential use of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (MVA) as a biofertilizer by examining the effect of MVA on the growth of corn plant (Zea Mays). Applicated indigenus MVA was able to increase the absorption of phosphorus (P) nutrients in the soil by corn plant so it had an effect on increasing the height and diameter of the corn plant stalks. MVA has the potential as a basic material for making biofertilizer, so it can be used to improve soil quality and environment in ex-limestone mining areas.

Abstract

One of the efforts to alleviate poverty in Soko Sub-District, Tuban Regency is giving an assisting program in the cultivation of earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus). This program is aimed for groups of farmers in Soko Sub-District, Tuban Regency. This Community Service Activity (PKM) was carried out by using a method in the form of training activities for earthworm cultivation (Lumbricus rubbelus) starting from the provision of materials, preparation of earthworm media, seed sowing, feed making, feeding, routine maintenance, harvesting techniques and monitoring of PKM implementation team. Mentoring and monitoring activities were observed with cultivation implementation observation instruments, observation sheets on worm cultivation, and participant response questionnaires. This community service ended with the submission of earthworm seedlings (Lumbricus rubbelus) to the participants of farmer groups in Soko Sub-district, Tuban Regency as the initial capital to start earthworm cultivation (Lumbricus rubbelus). The results of Community Service showed that the average responsiveness of earthworm cultivators in Soko Subdistrict showed very good (4.1%), good (34.8%), sufficient (39.8%)and the remaining was lacking and continuous technical guidance and assistance needed to get maximum results (21.3%).

Abstract

‘The purpose of this community service program is to help and enhance environmental conservation efforts that are more effective, efficient, and targeted for schools in the karst region in creating a healthy environment free of air pollution. The problem faced by partners is the lack of school participation in the karst area to deal with the increasing dust volume in the dry season which can disrupt teaching and learning activities. Low school participation is due to a lack of student and teacher knowledge about air-purifying plants that can be planted in the school environment. The solution offered to school partners as a first step is to hold a workshop to introduce karst areas and plant species that are useful as air purifiers. The implementation of the workshops that have been carried out can increase the understanding of students and teachers about the condition of the school environment, types of air purification plants, and the use of used materials for growing media. The monitoring results show that the partner schools namely SMAN 1 Plumpang and SMAN 1 Rengel have implemented the results of the workshop, namely by planting various air purification plants by utilizing used materials as planting media so as to achieve a beautiful environment and environmental conservation in the karst school area running well.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aktivator KOH dan waktu kontak karbon aktif dari tempurung kelapa terhadap adsorpsi logam Pb di sampel air kawasan mangrove Wonorejo Surabaya. Kandungan awal ion logam Pb2+ pada sampel air berjumlah 1,1890 ppm. Karbon aktif dibuat dari tempurung kelapa. Aktivasi dilakukan menggunakan KOH dengan variasi konsentrasi 1 M, 3M, dan 5 M. Waktu kontak adsorpsi ion logam Pb2+ pada sampel air menggunakan karbon aktif divariasikan selama 1 jam, 1,5 jam, 2 jam dan 2,5 jam untuk setiap variasi konsentrasi aktivator KOH. Hasil adsorpsi terbanyak didapatkan dari karbon aktif yang diaktivasi KOH 1M dengan waktu kontak selama 1,5 jam. Jumlah ion logam Pb2+ yang teradsorp yaitu sebesar  1,5645 mg/L atau 86% dari konsentrasi awal.

Abstract

Tujuan program pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan solusi atas permasalahan yang dialami oleh kedua mitra yang merupakan kelompok peternak sistem penggemukan kambing, yaitu Mitra 1 kelompok “Ngembes Rejeki”, Desa Bandung Rejo, Kecamatan Plumpang dan Mitra 2 kelompok “Mekarsari”, Desa Gesikharjo, Kecamatan Palang, Kabupaten Tuban, Provinsi Jawa Timur. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra adalah manajemen pakan. Solusi yang iberikan bagi peternak kambing adalah dengan memberikan workshop terkait pembuatan dan penggunakan rekayasa pakan kaya nutrisi yang mampu menekan biaya pengeluaran untuk pakan konsentrat serta dapat menjadikan nutrisi pakan lebih efektif dan efisien sesuai TDN kambing, selain itu juga mampu mereduksi bau tidak sedap dari limbah ternak kambing (urin dan feses). Hasil yang didapatkan setelah tahap pelaksanaan workshop adalah mitra memberikan pakan tambahan kepada kambing berupa pakan kaya nutrisi yang berasal dari limbah industri dan pertanian. Setelah dilakukan evaluasi program, biaya pakan yang dikeluarkan mitra berkurang, dengan pertambahan berat badan kambing mitra yaitu rata rata 3,12 kg/bulan dan  feses dan urin yang tidak berbau.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the manufacturing process and the quality of liquid organic fertilizer made from vegetable waste from Pasar Baru, Tuban Regency. Liquid organic fertilizer is done as a solution to the amount of vegetable waste which is the most waste produced by Pasar Baru in Tuban Regency with the amount reaching 2 tons / day. This large amount of vegetable waste will cause environmental problems if not handled and treated properly. The method used in making liquid organic fertilizer is semi anaerobic fermentation using drum composter with the addition of EM-4 bioactivator. The quality of liquid organic fertilizer will be seen based on the physical properties and the results of the analysis of macro nutrient content and adjusted to SNI determined by Permentan No. 70 Th. 2011. The results of the analysis showed that physical properties pH and temperature are fullfill the standard of SNI Permentan No.70 Th. 2011. But for the content of macro elements of C-organic, N, P, and K total are not fullfill the standard.

Abstract

Respon masyarakat terhadap potensi produk olahan buah salak menjadi Kurma salak dan sirup salak sebagai produk unggulan di Kampung Salak menjadi permasalahan bagi POKDARWIS Taruna Mandaka sebagai Mitra pada pengabdian masyarakat ini. Sehingga tujuan pada pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah melakukan analisis terhadap respon masyarakat terkait produk hasil olahan buah salak oleh warga kampung salak sebagai produk oleh-oleh kampung wisata Kampung Salak. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan selama bulan Mei hingga Oktober 2020. Metode yang digunakan adalah konsultasi/ pendampingan/ mediasi kepada masyarakat kampung salak dusun Rahayu Lereng Kuning desa Rengel kabupaten Tuban. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah sebesar 53% responden menyatakan sangat setuju dengan adanya pengolahan buah salak menjadi kurma salak dan sirup salak, sebesar 66% responden menyatakan belum pernah mencoba olahan buah salak dalam bentuk kurma salak maupun sirup salak dan lebih dari 50% menyatakan menyukai rasa kurma salak yang berbanding lurus dengan persentase mereka menyukai buah salak. Sehingga dapat simpulkan bahwa kurma salak dan sirup salak memiliki potensi yang besar sebagai produk olahan buah salak dan dijadikan sebagai produk unggulan Kampung Salak desa Rengel. Berdasarkan kegiatan yang telah dilakukan diketahui 76% masyarakat belum mengetahui mengenai pengujian terhadap produk makanan dan minuman yang tepat, sehingga hal ini akan dijadikan rekomendasi untuk pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat berikutnya di desa Rengel sehingga dapat terjalin komunikasi dan diskusi antara pihak mitra dan pihak akademisi.

Abstract

This community service program aims to provide additional knowledge and understanding in optimally utilizing home yards to increase community productivity while implementing government policies to stay at home during the Covid-19 pandemic.. Like rural communities in general, the people of Pongpongan village have quite large yards, but this is still not being utilized optimally. To provide additional knowledge and understanding regarding the use of homestead land, the initial stage of this program is to conduct socialization, then follow it up with training in planting and caring for good spices and then proceed to the monitoring process. The method used was to carry out focus group discussions and planting practices. Monitoring activities were carried out for approximately 3 months to determine the progress and obstacles faced by program participants. The results obtained indicate that many people have not used their yards and are constrained by capital. In addition, of all the participants who have yards that can still be used, they are interested in joining the follow-up program. This is because 100% of participants are satisfied and 85% of participants do not experience difficulties in running the programs given.

Abstract

Food safety is the main demand of consumers. Food quality and safety must be ensured to be free from pathogenic materials and safe for consumption. One of the pathogenic bacteria found as contaminants in broiler chicken meat is the Escericia coli. Broiler meat products that are accepted and that will be consumed by the community, they must meet the specified requirements and be proven by a certificate of test results from a recognized institution and based on ISO 17025. One of the testing agencies that has been accredited by the Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN), namely the UPTD Laboratorium Kesehatan Hewan Dinas Peternakan Provinsi Jawa Timur Livestock Service, provides community services in laboratory examinations for testing microbial contamination in animal products (meat, milk and eggs) with quality reference standards for microbial contamination limits according to SNI 7388: 2009. The method used in this study is to use the MPN method. This study used 2 samples of broiler chicken meat from PT. Trijaya Lestari Food. The MNP method is a method used to determine the calculation and estimate the amount of contamination of Escherichia coli bacteria contained in broiler chicken meat samples. The result obtained from this study is that the number of positive tubes shows the MPN value as the amount of Escherichia coli per ml / per g. For dilutions 10ˉ¹, 10ˉ² and 10ˉ³ are valued at 0 and if added up the value is <3.0 which indicates that broiler chicken meat samples are below the maximum contamination limit of the number of Escerichia coli bacteria based on SNI 01-3924-2009.
