Abstract

This visual branding training for UMKM prioritizes the crucial role of logos as the main component of visual branding for product marketing activities for benefits and how to design a logo that is easy to remember in accordance with logo principles so that the logo can give a memorable impression to potential consumers. The achievement of this activity is how the future training participants will know and be able to produce logo designs that represent the image of their business. Presentation of visual branding materials using presentation, discussion and practice methods. Presentations are used when the service team explains the function of visual branding and its components such as logos, taglines and promotional strategies. In the stage of introducing the graphics application, the service team gave the Corel Draw module to the trainees. The first day of the training, after the presentation of the material, the service team immediately installed the application on the trainees who brought laptops. The service team asked participants to understand and study the tools in Corel Draw in accordance with the content of the modules that have been given. Keywords— Trainning, Visual Branding, Gedong Tataan.

Abstract

Improving graphic design skills for high school students can be organized by the school through extra-curricular activities or external activities between the school and other parties (Sitompul et al., 2022). SMA Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung is one of the state high schools located on Jl. Soekarno-Hatta (By Pass), New Waydadi, Sukarame, Bandar Lampung City. Graphic design training for SMA Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung students aims to provide knowledge and skills in the field of graphic design so that these students can use their abilities to help design flyers, information media, and posters for school activities or even to prepare them to enter the industrial world. after graduating from school. This community service activity is carried out using presentation, discussion, and practicum methods. After the presentation of the introductory material at the beginning of the session by the presenter, the students immediately practiced on their respective computers according to the directions or modules are given by the presenter. The initial stages of design are making pattern sketches, preparing layouts, and choosing colors that match the visual form of the designed graphic design work.

Abstract

Packaging design is a form of visual communication that uses images to convey information or messages as effectively as possible. The provision of graphic design training to students at SMK Negeri 1 Dente Teladas aims to provide students with graphic design knowledge and skills so that students can use these skills in designing posters and brochures. This service is carried out in 2 stages, the first stage is identification and data collection and in stage 2 the evaluation the output achieved in this activity is the product packaging design produced by students. The analysis of the work produced received the response from the service partners, which was very useful and able to increase students' knowledge of SMKN 1 Dente Teladas about the importance of packaging for marketing a product and learn the importance of the creative process in a design process. Students should continue to learn on an ongoing basis to understand the technicalities in designing visual communication design products which will be very useful for them when they enter the industrial world

Abstract

This article is research results about making Krebet “batik” masks in groups carried out by PGSD students. Research’s aims to describe the application of Pierre Bourdieu's concept of habitus and Wallas' creative process. Research methodology is qualitative and case study approach. Data collection techniques are observation and document review. Data analysis techniques are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The subjects researched were PGSD FKIP UAD students, while the objects were Krebet wooden batik masks. Results show that: (1) students applying habitus concept in the practice of making “batik” wooden masks (knowledge, understanding, perceptions, values, and actions) that are internalized as part of society in Yogyakarta; (2) students were integrated habitus concept in the stages of the creative process: (a) the preparation stage which is carried out by forming groups and discussing the theme of “batik” motifs; (b) incubation stage, search for inspiration forms explored of motifs following “batik” objects; (c) illumination stage on the surface of the mask with "canthing" and liquid wax according to the design; d) verification stage by testing new visualization ideas in making designs on paper and transferring them to the wood directly based on the basic elements of fine art.

Abstract

This extension programme was carried out at SMK NEGERI 7 Bandar Lampung with the aim of increasing students' understanding and awareness of plastic waste management into appropriate goods, as well as a discussion forum between students about the positive impact of good waste management on the environment and public health. This service has 2 discussion sessions, the first discussion focused on the leteration of waste sorting with the 3R method in everyday life, the second session on processing waste as a creative medium and how to turn waste into future savings. The next activity students are given the task to discuss in their groups. This forum is a forum for students to discuss, exchange ideas, and ask questions related to the material that has been presented. This discussion is also expected to strengthen students' understanding of the importance of waste management and literacy of waste classification using the 3R method in the context of everyday life. The activity ended with presentations by students containing the results of their discussions and conclusions. This presentation is a moment for students to show their understanding of waste management and classification. It is hoped that this programme can make a positive contribution in increasing students' awareness of the importance of waste management and waste classification literacy using the 3R method in everyday life.

Abstract

Folk tales that embody local wisdom hold rich cultural and traditional value. However, they are often less appealing to Generation Z. Having grown up in the digital era and being exposed to global culture, Generation Z tends to be more drawn to modern and international content. They spend a significant amount of time in the digital world, particularly on social media. Therefore, social media can serve as an effective strategy for introducing folk tales and local wisdom to Generation Z. This study focuses on designing illustrated stories that both entertain and educate Generation Z about folk tales and local wisdom through a Carousel format on the Instagram platform. Data for this study were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The design methodology employed is Design Thinking, which involves five key stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The outcome of this study is the illustrated story "Ompung Silamponga," presented in portrait format with a size of 1080 x 1350 pixels and consisting of 10 slides. This work successfully conveys folk tales in an educational manner through the visual medium of a Carousel. By leveraging New Media, local wisdom stories can be presented in a more engaging, relevant, and relatable way for Generation Z, enabling them to better appreciate and preserve valuable local wisdom.

Abstract

Ethnopedagogy is a modern approach to integrating local wisdom into education, aligning with the Merdeka Curriculum’s emphasis on cultural arts to counter Generation Z's detachment from Indonesia's heritage and prevent them from becoming passive technology users. This study aims to explore the relationship between ethnopedagogy and cultural arts education through qualitative research employing a literature-based approach. Data were collected from observations and documentation studies of reputable national and international journals. Thematic analysis was employed to investigate and contextualize ethnopedagogy’s integration within cultural arts education in the era of globalization. The findings highlight that ethnopedagogy fosters a holistic understanding of culture among students. Through cultural arts education, students develop skills and knowledge to connect local wisdom with the demands of the modern era. This study underscores the significance of ethnopedagogy as a foundation for arts education, promoting cultural literacy across all educational levels in alignment with governmental and institutional policies. Such an approach ensures that education contributes to preserving and revitalizing Indonesia’s cultural identity in a globalized world.

Abstract

Peningkatan keahlian desain grafis bagi siswa – siswi SMA dapat diselenggarakan oleh pihak sekolah melalui kegiatan – kegiatan ekstra kurikuler maupun kegiatan – kegiatan ekstrenal antara pihak sekolah dengan pihak lain (Sitompul et al., 2022). SMA Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung merupakan salah satu sekolah menengah atas negeri yang terletak di jl. Soekarno-Hatta (By Pass), Waydadi Baru, Sukarame, Kota Bandar Lampung. Pelatihan desain grafis bagi siswa-siswi SMA Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam bidang desain grafis supaya siswa-siswi tersebut dapat menggunakan kemampuannya untuk membantu merancang flyer, media informasi maupun poster untuk kegiatan sekolah atau bahkan untuk bekal terjun ke dunia industri setelah lulus dari sekolah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan menggunakan metode presentasi, diskusi dan praktikum. Setelah pemaparan materi pengantar di awal sesi oleh pemateri, para siswa-siswi langsung mempraktekkan pada komputer-nya masing-masing sesuai dengan arahan atau modul yang diberikan oleh pemateri. Adapun tahapan awal perancangan adalah pembuatan sketsa pola, penyusunan lay outing dan pemilihan warna yang sesuai dengan bentuk visual dari karya desain grafis yang dirancang.

Abstract

Red Bull is an energy drink brand owned by Red Bull GmbH from Austria. With a share of Red Bull is an energy drink brand owned by Austrian company Red Bull. With a market share of 38%, Red Bull became the world's most popular energy drink brand in 2019. Rather than relying on traditional marketing methods, Red Bull gained attention and built a œbrand myth through several extreme sports series. Red Bull has repeatedly used nonverbal forms of signs and signals (icons) when designing advertising posters for its products. What is interesting to study is that the symbols used in Red Bull product advertisements have an important and lasting role. The purpose of this study is to identify the signs and markings on Red Bull's œPower on for Strength advertising posters. The qualitative research method uses a historical approach. This research review is historical and based on Erwin Panofsky's theory of iconography and iconology. Translated with DeepL.com (free version). The iconography review emphasizes the themes and concepts in the Product advertising posters. The first conclusion regarding the visual design of the Red Bull œPower On For strength advertising poster has factual and representational meanings. The second conclusion is the theme of the advertisement about the representation of recognizable objects. The representation of familiar objects is often used to express the objective relationship between the sign of an object in the icon and the real object. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi tanda dan penandaan pada poster iklan œPower on for Strength Red Bull. Metode penelitian kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan sejarah. Tinjauan  penelitian ini bersifat historis dan didasarkan pada teori ikonografi dan ikonografi Erwin Panofsky. Tinjauan ikonografi menekankan kepada tema dan konsep pada poster iklan Produk. Kesimpulan pertama mengenai desain visual poster iklan Red Bull œPower On For trength'' memiliki makna faktual dan representasionalnya. Objek utama bersifat faktual ialah pada objek kemasan kaleng dan ikon Power yang secara eksplisit bersifat ekspresi dari kemasan kaleng Red Bull ialah kekuatan. Kesimpulan kedua tema iklan tentang representasi objek yang mudah dikenali. representasi objek yang familiar sering digunakan untuk mengungkapkan hubungan objektif antara tanda suatu objek dalam ikon dan objek nyata. Kesimpulan ketiga adalah makna poster iklan Red Bull œPower On For Strangth Red Bull proses identifikasi produk melalui bentuk dan ikon power pada objek kemasan kaleng. Kemasan kaleng melambangkan nama produk Red Bull, dan ikon Power sebagai tanda bentuk kekuasaan. Abstract

The Geblek Renteng batik motif is a distinctive cultural heritage from the Kulon Progo region of Yogyakarta. This motif is inspired by the traditional food ‘geblek,’ which is served in a lined arrangement, and it reflects the philosophy of togetherness, simplicity, and a deep local identity. Furthermore, this motif serves as a symbol of local wisdom and holds significant potential for development within the creative industry. This study aims to explore the additional potential of applying the Geblek Renteng motif as a decorative element in interior design, specifically in backdrop design. The chosen design object is SMAN 1 Girimulyo, located in Kulon Progo, the birthplace of the motif. The use of the Geblek Renteng motif as a decorative element is expected to serve as an educational tool for students regarding the importance of preserving local culture amidst the increasingly strong currents of globalization.
