Abstract

The use of local ameliorants has the potential to be an effective solution in improving the quality of post-tin mining soil that is poor in nutrients and has a coarse texture. This study aims to analyze the effect of oil palm bunch ash, coconut shell ash, and chicken manure on the germination of two kale varieties (Nemo and Nita) in degraded media. The study used a two-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) at the Precision Agriculture Laboratory of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic. The parameters observed included plumule length, radicle, fresh weight of seedlings, fresh weight of roots, and dry weight of roots. The results showed that the percentage and germination capacity did not differ significantly between treatments. However, radicle length, fresh weight, and dry weight of seedlings showed a significant effect, with the best response achieved by the coconut shell ash and oil palm bunch ash treatments. Local ameliorants also caused positive changes in soil physical properties, especially in the color and texture of the media. In conclusion, local ameliorants proved effective in improving the initial conditions of post-mining soil and successfully supported kale germination.

Abstract

Lahan bekas tambang merupakan salah satu bentuk lahan terdegradasi yang sering kali mengalami penurunan kualitas tanah yang signifikan akibat kegiatan penambangan. Tanaman caisim (Brassica juncea) memiliki potensi besar untuk tumbuh di tanah terdegradasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh berbagai konsentrasi pupuk organik cair (POC) dan kompos abu janjang kelapa sawit terhadap peningkatan kesuburan tanah bekas tambang serta pertumbuhan tanaman caisim (Brassica juncea). Penelitian dilaksanakan di Greenhouse Program Studi Pertanian Presisi Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bangka Belitung menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima konsentrasi POC, yaitu 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, dan 25%, masing-masing diulang tiga kali. Parameter pertumbuhan yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, lebar daun, berat basah tanaman, berat basah akar, panjang akar, dan berat kering akar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi 20% POC memberikan pengaruh paling optimal terhadap pertumbuhan caisim, dengan nilai tertinggi pada parameter tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, lebar daun, berat basah tanaman, dan panjang akar. Sementara itu, konsentrasi 10% memberikan hasil terbaik pada berat basah akar. Secara keseluruhan, kombinasi POC dan kompos abu janjang kelapa sawit efektif dalam memperbaiki kualitas tanah bekas tambang dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman caisim, dengan konsentrasi 20% sebagai perlakuan paling optimal.
