Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of quality control systems in maintaining the effectiveness of Islamic non-formal education through a conceptual and analytical literature-based approach. Islamic non-formal education plays a strategic role in expanding access to lifelong learning and empowering communities through skill-based and entrepreneurial programs. However, the effectiveness of non-formal education institutions is often hindered by a limited number of professional educators, insufficient funding, and a weak institutional quality culture. Using a qualitative descriptive library research approach, this study synthesizes academic literature, policy documents, and national quality assurance frameworks related to non-formal education institutions, including Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM) and Course and Training Institutions (LKP). The analysis conceptualizes the effectiveness of quality control systems not as empirically measured outcomes, but as a theoretical construct shaped by leadership commitment, stakeholder participation, and systemic regulatory support. From the perspective of Islamic education, quality control is interpreted as an ethical obligation (amanah) that integrates professional standards with moral responsibility and social accountability. The main contribution of this article lies in offering a conceptual framework that enriches the discourse on quality management in Islamic non-formal education by integrating sustainability principles with Islamic educational values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical issues affecting the quality control of education in private schools in Indonesia. In practice, private schools face various structural and operational challenges, ranging from limited human resources to varying quality of teaching staff to disparities in facilities and infrastructure. Furthermore, internal and external quality assurance mechanisms are not functioning optimally due to a lack of monitoring systems, low compliance with National Education Standards (SNP), and weak school management governance. This study uses a descriptive-analytical approach through a review of literature and education policy documents. The analysis shows that improving the quality of private schools requires strengthening school leadership, enhancing teacher professionalism, improving the accreditation system, and providing more stable funding support. Effective quality control relies not only on government regulations but also on collaboration between schools, foundations, parents, and quality assurance institutions. Therefore, strengthening the quality control system comprehensively is expected to improve the quality of education services in private schools and narrow the gap in education quality in Indonesia. Abstract

In the era of digital disruption, Islamic Education (PAI) institutions face complex challenges in maintaining relevance and the quality of graduates. This research aims to synthesize the fundamental principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) and integrate them into the context of future-oriented Islamic education management. The research method used is qualitative with a library research approach, where data were collected through accredited scientific literature and analyzed using content analysis and theoretical synthesis techniques. The results indicate three main pillars in the implementation of TQM in Islamic educational institutions: 1) Reconceptualization of customer focus, which positions students as a divine "Amanah" (trust) whose potential must be developed to the maximum; 2) Implementation of a continuous improvement cycle through the Plan – Do – Check - Act (PDCA) model, which is viewed as a manifestation of the values of Itqan (professionalism) and Muhasabah (self-evaluation); 3) Synergy of total involvement and visionary leadership based on the principles of Syura (consultation) and Uswah Hasanah (exemplary leadership). This research concludes that the success of TQM in PAI is an orchestration between data-driven professional management and spiritual integrity. These findings provide a theoretical contribution to educational institution managers in building a resilient, authentic quality culture amid global competition.   Keywords: Total Quality Management (TQM), Education Management, Educational Quality, PDCA.
