Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of scarcity buying on immediate buying behavior through the mediation of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) in online concert ticket consumers from a consumer protection perspective. The study used a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative data were obtained by distributing questionnaires to 105 respondents who had purchased concert tickets online, then analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Meanwhile, qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews to strengthen the interpretation of empirical results related to digital marketing practices and consumer protection. The results showed that scarcity buying had a positive and significant effect on FOMO and immediate buying behavior. In addition, FOMO was also proven to have a positive effect on immediate buying behavior and was able to mediate the relationship between scarcity buying and immediate buying behavior. These findings indicate that scarcity-based marketing strategies can create psychological pressure that encourages consumers to make quick and impulsive purchases. From a consumer protection perspective, digital marketing practices such as countdown timers, limited stock, and real-time purchase notifications have the potential to create psychological manipulation if not accompanied by adequate information transparency. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen regulations and supervision of digital marketing practices to ensure that consumer rights remain protected in the digital economy era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of perceived value on willingness to pay a premium for environmentally friendly bottled drinking water (AMDK) products in Bali, by examining the role of environmental awareness as a mediating variable and price sensitivity as a moderating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. Data were collected through a survey of 130 bottled drinking water consumers in the Sarbagita region (Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Tabanan) using purposive sampling and accidental sampling techniques. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the help of SmartPLS 4 software. The results showed that perceived value did not have a significant direct effect on willingness to pay a premium, but had a positive and significant effect on environmental awareness. Furthermore, environmental awareness was proven to have a positive and significant effect on willingness to pay a premium, and fully mediated the relationship between perceived value and willingness to pay a premium. Meanwhile, price sensitivity was not proven to moderate the effect of perceived value on willingness to pay a premium. These findings imply that AMDK producers need to strengthen consumers' perceived environmental value and increase environmental awareness through education and sustainable marketing communications to encourage consumers' willingness to pay premium prices for environmentally friendly products.

Abstract

This study addresses the hotel industry, which relies heavily on employees’ intensive emotional and physical involvement, yet has historically been characterized by challenging working conditions. Despite this, research on flourishing in the hospitality sector remains limited, particularly in developing-country contexts. This study examines an integrative model explaining the mechanisms through which decent work contributes to flourishing at work, with work engagement as a mediator and psychological safety as a moderator, grounded in Job Demands-Resources theory. Data were collected from 327 hotel employees in Bali through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The results show that decent work has a positive effect on flourishing at work and work engagement, while work engagement positively influences flourishing at work. Work engagement was found to partially and complementarily mediate the relationship between decent work and flourishing at work, while psychological safety strengthens the effect of decent work on flourishing at work. The findings reveal that the direct effect of decent work on flourishing is the weakest effect in the model, positioning decent work as a necessary but insufficient foundation for optimal well-being. This study contributes to the literature by extending Job Demands-Resources theory through the incorporation of institutionally embedded resources, identifying the motivational pathway linking decent work to flourishing, and positioning psychological safety as a resource-conversion mechanism.
