Abstract

Forest and land fires were national and international disasters that caused crucial environmental problems and were a local and global concern. This research was conducted to determine the factors that affected forest and land fires in the media frame for future disaster mitigation in addition to the existing restoration efforts such as rewetting, revegetation, and community economic revitalization to minimize its impact. Data were collected from 2012 to 2021 through the framing method and analyzed using content analysis. The results showed that the factors affecting forest and land fires from September 2019 to June 2021 were associated with human activity and natural events. The dominant human activities were land preparation for agriculture and settlements, illegal logging, and lack of public awareness. Meanwhile, the natural factors were the dry season, lightning strikes, and areas with less intensive management, such as non-residential areas.

Abstract

Management of land potential in an area requires technological innovation to produce good quality. Proper land management and processing can improve the product and standard of living of the local community. Chili commodity is a very strategic commodity, where the development of this commodity will never experience a decline and even tends to continue to be increased, due to the high level of demand and consumption. Seeing this, it is very necessary to carry out activities with the background of activities, namely 1) The local community does not realize that their area has the potential for the development of various chilies, and 2) There is still limited public knowledge regarding the use of land suitability management, cultivation technology, and post-harvest technology of various chilies. The purpose of this activity is to build community capacity by developing and utilizing the potential of both natural and human resources in order to improve the community's standard of living. The method used in the Birayang Batang Alai Selatan Village is to carry out 1) Site Surveys and Community Identification, 2) Socialization of Activity Programs, 3) Extension and Training, 4) Mentoring and Continuous Guidance. The technique used in chili cultivation is MPHP (black silver plastic mulch). Community empowerment in addition to the implementation of cultivation for women through diversification of chili-based food. The result of this activity is the achievement of maximum chili production, due to suitable land supported by appropriate technology. This technology is expected to be followed by other communities and is sustainable and more optimal which is expected to improve the welfare of the community.

Students' skills in using the internet in Geography students for the Climatology and Hydrology and Meteorology courses are at a moderate level. The implementation of the online learning system must be supported by all students and all parties. The online learning system is expected to be one of the solutions in learning in the Covid-19 pandemic conditions, so as to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Abstract

East Kalimantan Province is planned as the new national capital city (IKN). Forest and land fires occur regularly every year and their frequency is increasing, especially during the dry season. This research uses secondary data, namely hotspot data. Hotspot data was obtained from the results of the 2012-2022 S-NPP VIIRS image recording. Data analysis in this study used descriptive and statistical analysis. The results of processing and analysis of the distribution of hotspots are overlaid with administrative maps so that the distribution of hotspots in each district in the study area can be identified. The results of the study show that hotspots distribution from the 2012-2022 S-NPP VIIRS image recording in East Kalimantan Province is varies quite a bit in each district. The highest hotspots distribution is in Kutai Kartanegara Regency and the lowest is in Mahakam Ulu and Penajam Paser Utara Regency. The higher number of hotspots is the higher incidence for forest and land fires. The distribution of hotspots needs to be known because it can be a form of early detection and fire mitigation so that the negative impact of fires can be minimized.

Abstract

Disaster communication is a process of creating, sending, and receiving messages from one or more people, which can be done directly or through the media, in various disaster contexts such as pre-disaster, when a disaster occurs, and post-disaster and generates responses or feedback. The role of disaster communication in conveying information is very important amidst technological advances in helping people reach information. This research aims to determine the extent of the disaster communication process carried out by the Banjarmasin City of Regional Disaster Management Agency/Badan Penganggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) in conveying information and educating the public regarding disasters. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the research show that in the process of conveying information to the BPBD of the Banjarmasin community, most of them have carried out their activities quite well, such as Customer Focus, Situational Awareness, and Leadership Commitment, while two other indicators, namely Media Partnership and Soft and Hard Power, are not yet running so they need attention. specifically, such as the process of conveying information via social media still using reporting language rather than journalistic language rules, as well as the limited human resources needed to manage information related to disaster prevention and management before it is conveyed to the wider community.

Abstract

Communication can essentially reduce uncertainty between two individuals who are first involved in a conversation, this is a concept coined by Richard Calabrese and Charles Berger in the theory of Uncertainty Reduction. This research will focus on passive uncertainty reduction strategy, which are strategy where when someone observes without that person knowing via online as well as the use of Instagram media which is used as a medium for someone to observe other people without that person's knowledge. If it is associated with a passive strategy on Instagram which will affect self-disclosure, it can make a relationship move closer than before so that this research can find out how far self-disclosure can develop if you have previously searched for information. Selection of passive strategy to reduce uncertainty is based on friendship, romantic, and professional relationships. Based on the results of the analysis carried out using qualitative research methods and descriptive type,, communicator will be motivated to seek information using passive strategy on Instagram due to considerations between uncertainty and hope. Then also found that the passive strategy on Instagram fulfill six of the eight axioms in the uncertainty reduction theory including axiom 1 (verbal communication), axiom 3 (information seeking), axiom 4 (familiarity), axiom 6 (similarity), axiom 7 (taste). ), and axiom 8 (social network interaction), as well as initiating self-disclosure in face-to-face meetings so that relationships can develop more quickly.
