Abstract

This study evaluated the heated winged beans as a plant-based aquafeed ingredient on growth and enzymatic activity in Java barb fish. This study had four treatments and four replications using the CRD method. Treatments contained heated winged beans in an oven at 110°C for 30 minutes (KO) and an autoclave at 121°C for 30 minutes (KA), non-heated winged beans (KE), and feed without winged beans administration (K). Specific growth rate/SGR, weight gain/WG, feed intake/FI, protein retention/PR, and lipid retention/LR were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, followed by DMRT. The protease enzyme activity (U/ml) of Java barb fish was analyzed descriptively. The SGR and WG had insignificant differences among treatments (p>0.05). Abstract

Optimizing nutrient utilization and minimizing feed costs are essential for supporting fish growth, with winged bean presenting a viable solution. This study aimed to determine the optimal dosage of dietary winged bean extract supplementation to enhance the growth performance of catfish. Catfish (mean weight 7.44 ± 0.16 g) were stocked at a density of 1 fish/L in 20 L containers. A completely randomized design was utilized, comprising four treatment groups based on the dosage of winged bean seed extract: 0 ml/kg feed (P1), 10 ml/kg feed (P2), 30 ml/kg feed (P3), and 50 ml/kg feed (P4), with each treatment replicated four times. Growth performance parameters included absolute length (Pm), absolute weight (Wm), feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific growth rate (SGR), and survival rate (SR). Data were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA, followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test at a 95% confidence level (p<0.05). Catfish fed P4 exhibited the best growth performance, with Pm of 4.32 ± 0.51 cm, Wm of 15.75 ± 2.75 g, SGR of 52.49 ± 9.18%/day, and FCR of 1.21 ± 0.09, though insignificantly different from P3. This study concluded that 50 ml/kg feed of winged bean seed extract optimally enhances catfish growth performance.

Abstract

Pelatihan dan pendampingan yang dilakukan dapat diarahkan ke sektor perikanan, yaitu kegiatan pembesaran ikan lele dalam lokasi lahan sempit melalui metode budidaya ikan dan sayur dalam ember (BUDIKDAMBER). Perlunya efisiensi pemanfaatan pakan untuk efektivitas pertumbuhan bobot ikan lele, selain peningkatan ketahanan ikan lele terhadap padat tebar tinggi dan lahan pemeliharaan yang sempit melalui suplementasi tepung mikroalga Arthospira platensis dan EM4 sebagai bahan aditif pada pakan ikan lele. Kelompok masyarakat potensial di Desa Bligo adalah Karang Taruna Dusun Bakalan Desa Bligo. Efektivitas pemanfaatan lahan untuk kegiatan pembesaran ikan lele oleh pemuda Karang Taruna Dusun Bakalan Desa Bligo melalui metode BUDIKDAMBER telah tercapai dengan adanya desain BUDIKDAMBER skala produksi sesuai dengan lokasi lahan yang disepakati oleh mitra sasaran dan tim pengabdian. Namun, peningkatan efisiensi kegiatan pembesaran ikan lele dengan metode BUDIKDAMBER yang memerlukan biaya operasional pengadaan pakan tinggi (60-70%) melalui suplementasi feed additive berupa mikroalga bubuk A. platensis belum tercapai, karena belum dilakukan kegiatan pembesaran ikan dengan suplementasi A. platensis dan EM4.

Abstract

Budidaya lobster air tawar (Cherax sp.) dengan sistem budidaya dalam ember (BUDIKDAMBER) merupakan salah satu program untuk meningkatkan ekonomi lokal dan partisipasi aktif pemuda Karang Taruna Trunajaya di Dusun Semirejo, Tempuran, Magelang. Program ini dilatarbelakangi oleh potensi ekonomi lobster air tawar serta minimnya aktivitas produktif pemuda setempat. Sistem BUDIKDAMBER yang praktis dan hemat lahan cocok diterapkan di desa. Program ini juga meningkatkan keterampilan dan kebersamaan anggota karang taruna. Kegiatan ini bertujuan memberikan peluang ekonomi bagi pemuda Karang Taruna Trunajaya melalui budidaya lobster bernilai jual tinggi. Program ini mendorong kemandirian dan peningkatan akses pangan berprotein. Metode yang digunakan adalah sistem BUDIKDAMBER, yaitu budidaya dalam ember yang praktis dan efisien.   Metode yang digunakan adalah sistem BUDIKDAMBER, yaitu budidaya dalam ember yang praktis dan efisien. Program dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan utama: sosialisasi, praktik budidaya lobster air tawar, serta monitoring untuk memastikan keberlanjutan kegiatan. Hasil sosialisasi menunjukkan bahwa anggota Karang Taruna Trunajaya sangat antusias terhadap kegiatan budidaya lobster air tawar, dengan tingkat kehadiran mencapai 100%. Antusiasme ini mencerminkan minat dan kesiapan mereka untuk terlibat aktif dalam program. Pada tahap praktik, dilakukan penebaran benih lobster dengan kepadatan 1 ekor per liter air untuk setiap ember berkapasitas 10 liter. Pergantian air dilakukan hingga 100% setiap hari guna menjaga kualitas lingkungan hidup lobster. Monitoring rutin juga dilakukan untuk memastikan pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup lobster tetap optimal sepanjang kegiatan. Program ini diharapkan mampu mendukung pemulihan ekonomi lokal dan memberikan inspirasi pengembangan usaha kecil di lingkungan masyarakat setempat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunnan limbah cair budidaya udang vaname dan bandeng sebagai media pertumbuhan Nannochloropsis sp. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan april 2024. Selama 9 Hari di Balai Benih Ikan Pantai (BBIP) Poniang, Kabupaten Majene, Provinsi Sulawesi Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 2 (dua) perlakuan masing-masing 3 (tiga) ulangan yaitu perlakuan A (limbah cair budidaya udang vaname), perlakuan B (limbah cair budidaya ikan bandeng. Parameter yang diuji pertumbuhan harian, dan kepadatan populasi. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu analisis ragam (Independent-Samples T Test). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pengaruh penggunaan limbah cair budidaya udang dan bandeng untuk pertumbuhan Nannochloropsis sp. berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) pada hari ke-4 dengan nilai pertumbuhaan harian tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan A (limbah cair budidaya udang vaname) yaitu 71.333 sel/mL. Sedangkan kepadatan populasi tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan A (limbah cair budidaya udang vaname) yaitu 54.889 sel/mL, sedangkan perlakuan B 40.889 sel/mL.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pakan kombinasi pakan alami dengan pakan buatan terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan larva udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei) dan untuk menentukan dosis terbaik menunjang kinerja pertumbuhan larva udang vaname. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 18 Juli 2023 sampai 7 Agustus 2023, di Balai Benih Ikan Pantai Poniang, Desa Tallu Banua, Kecamatan Sendana, Kabupaten Majene, Provinsi Sulawesi Barat. Penelitian ini didesain menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Uji coba pakan: pakan alami 100% (PA100%), pakan buatan 100% (PB100%), PA50%+PB50%, PA25%+PB75%, dan PA25%+PB75%. Parameter uji yang diamati yaitu percepatan perpindahan stadia udang vaname, panjang mutlak, kelangsungan hidup dan retensi protein. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis raga ANOVA dengan bantuan SPSS versi 16.0, dan uji lanjut W-Tukey. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perpindahan stadia dari Mysis 3 ke stadia post larva 1 (PL1) berlangsung selama 1 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pemberian pakan kombinasi dapat menunjang kinerja pertumbuhan (p˂0,01), namun tidak berpengaruh nyata (p˃0,05) terhadap kelangsungan hidup udang vaname. Disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan pakan kombinasi dapat menunjang kinerja pertumbuhan termasuk retensi protein pada udang vaname.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the supplementation of yellow pumpkin peel powder on the coloration of lemon fish. The powder lemon fish with an average length of 3 cm and a weight of 0.83 g as many as 240 fish. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and four replicates, namely P1 (0 g/100 g feed), P2 (5 g/100 g feed), P3 (10 g/100 g feed), and P4 (15 g/100 g feed). The aquariums used were 50x30x30 cm in size, with 16 aquariums and 15 fish per aquarium. The fish were reared for 30 days and fed based on fish biomass. The parameters observed were growth performance (absolute weight, absolute length, and survival), water quality, feed nutrient levels, and increased color intensity. Data on growth performance and increased color intensity were analyzed using a one-way analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA) to determine the real difference between each treatment and followed by the Duncan multiple distance test (DMRT) with a 95% confidence interval (p<0.05). Water quality data and feed nutrient levels were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study showed that dietary supplementation with yellow pumpkin peel powder did not affect the growth performance of lemon fish, but it did affect the coloration of lemon fish. The best treatment for increasing the color of lemon fish was P4, with a color increase value of 31.5%.

Abstract

Low optimization of fishery product diversification development becomes the fish farmer problem in Magelang District, although capable of increasing the selling value and creating the business opportunities for fishery products. In addition to product diversification, a marketing strategy needs to be performed, so the product absorption and demand are easier in the market. Based on this condition, community service actions were carried out to train and assist the process of fishery product diversification production and marketing strategies to increase the community income. This activity was held in Wonosari Hamlet, Gunungpring Village, Muntilan District, Magelang Regency, from September - October 2022. The service participants were residents of Wonosari Hamlet, especially housewives. This activity was implemented through field observations, socialization, counseling, training, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The diversified products that were used as objects in this activity contained fish samosas, kaki naga, high pressure smoked milkfish, and otak-otak bandeng. During the service implementation, participants were asked to produce fishery products, after being explained by the lecture team, before finally describing the marketing strategies to increase the community income, especially the Wonosari hamlet community. Based on the evaluation results, this service program has increased the understanding, skills, quality, and quantity of fishery products, which can have an impact on the regional food security through training and community assistance.

Abstract

Feed is one of the main components with important function to support the freshwater fish culture success. Sufficient feed quantity and quality can ensure the fish culture cycle continuity. Feed occupies the highest position, which spends 60-80% of the total production cost requirement in intensive fish culture to support the fish growth. The high feed cost is unmatched with the fish selling price, resulting in a minimum profit gain. Based on this condition, a community service, focusing on self-produced feed training needs to be implemented to increase the cost efficiency and effectiveness in freshwater fish culture. This training was conducted in Gunungpring Village, Muntilan Sub-district, Magelang District with fish cultivator communities. The feed used as the object for this training contained artificial and live feed. Training activities contained surveys, field observations, outreach, counseling, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. This training could clearly introduce the community to the use of alternative feeds for ornamental and consumed-fish commodities. Live feed production training included Azolla sp., Daphnia sp., silkworms, and earthworms, while artificial feed included pellets of pf500-1000. This training program increases the community understanding and skills, followed by the quality and quantity of fishery products. As the training also has an impact on the regional food security with massive community assistance, so harvest failure can be minimized optimally.

Abstract

Salah satu penyebab tingginya mortalitas larva ikan gurami (Osphronemus goramy Lac.) adalah ketersediaan pakan alami secara berkelanjutan. Hal ini memerlukan upaya untuk mencari pakan pengganti yang dapat tersedia secara terus-menerus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi waktu pemberian pakan kombinasi antara cacing sutera dan pakan buatan pasta terhadap pertumbuhan dan sintasan larva ikan gurami. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan lima perlakuan dan tiga ulangan, yaitu pemberian cacing sutera selama 40 hari (P1), cacing sutera selama 10 hari + pasta selama 30 hari (P2), cacing sutera selama 20 hari + pasta selama 20 hari (P3), cacing sutera selama 30 hari + pasta selama 10 hari (P4), dan pemberian pasta selama 40 hari (P5). Larva (0,8 ± 0,01 cm) dipelihara di akuarium (30x30x30 cm3) dengan kepadatan 2 ekor L-1. Larva dipelihara selama 40 hari dan diberi pakan tiga kali sehari secara ad satiation. Parameter penelitian terdiri dari pertumbuhan bobot mutlak, pertumbuhan panjang mutlak, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, dan sintasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pertumbuhan bobot mutlak, pertumbuhan panjang mutlak, dan laju pertumbuhan spesifik menurun seiring berkurangnya waktu pemberian pakan berupa cacing sutera (P<0,05). Perlakuan P4 memberikan sintasan yang lebih baik dibanding perlakuan P2, P3, dan P5. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa waktu penggantian cacing sutera ke pakan buatan pasta berpengaruh terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan dan sintasan larva ikan gurami. Kombinasi yang disarankan yaitu penggunaan cacing sutra selama 30 hari dan pakan buatan pasta selama 10 hari.A factor causing high mortality in gourami larvae (Osphronemus goramy Lac.) is availability of sustainable live feed. This condition needs an effort to find continuous artificial feeds. This study aimed to evaluate feeding periods of combination between tubificid worms and formulated feed paste on growth and survival of giant gourami larvae. This study used a complete randomized design with five treatments and three replications, namely tubificid worms for 40 days (P1), tubificid worms for 10 days + formulated feed paste for 30 days (P2), tubificid worms for 20 days + formulated feed paste for 20 days (P3), tubificid worms for 30 days + formulated feed paste for 10 days (P4), and formulated feed paste for 40 days (P5). Larvae used (0.8±0.01 cm) were reared in aquariums (30x30x30 cm3) with a stocking density of 2 individuals L-1. Larvae were reared for 40 days and fed three times a day through ad satiation method. Experimental parameters consisted of absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, specific growth rate, and survival. The results showed that absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, and specific growth rate decreased with the decrease of feeding periods in the form of tubificid worms (P<0.05). The P4 treatment obtained the best survival, compared to P2, P3, and P5 treatments. This study concludes that the shift feeding period from tubificid worms to formulated feed paste affects growth performances and survival of giant gouramy larvae. The suggested combination is 30 days application of tubificid worms and formulated feed paste for 10 days.
