Abstract

Asian redtail catfish culture activities are still constrained by the low survival rate in the seeds phase, one of the causes is cannibalism behavior. Several attempts have been made to improve the survival of these fish, and several studies have shown that turmeric powder can increase survival in several species. Based on this, this study aimed to evaluate the addition of turmeric flour with the coating method on the survival rate of Asian redtail catfish (Hemibagrus nemurus) seeds. This study used a completely randomized design using four treatments and was repeated three times. The treatment used was the supplemented turmeric flour to commercial feed which had a protein of 40%., the treatments were 0.0 g kg-1 (K), 2.5 g kg-1 (TK2.5), 5.0 g kg-1 (TK5.0), and 7.5 g kg-1 feed (TK7.5). The size of the Asian redtail catfish was 2.09±0.17 cm, with a stocking density of 3 L-1, and reared in an aquarium measuring 38x25x22 cm3. The study was conducted for 30 days and fed at satiation four times a day. The parameters measured were survival, cannibalism (cannibal type, cannibal index, normal death), and growth performance (absolute weight, absolute length, specific weight growth, and specific length growth). The results showed that TK5.0 was able to increase the survival rate and decrease the cannibalism index and normal death rate. Furthermore, the supplemented turmeric flour did not have an impact on the absolute weight, absolute length, specific growth rate, and specific length.

Abstract

Butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea L.) is a plant that contains anthocyanins and bioflavonoids. This plant is able to increase antioxidant levels, as an anti-diabetic, thinning phlegm and reducing sugar, insulin levels and various other properties. Some villagers have butterfly pea plants in their yards, but don't know that these plants can be used as a health drink. This community service activity aims to educate the public about the properties/benefits of telang flowers which can be used as a health drink. Apart from that, it can be a commercial product that can be marketed widely so that it can become a source of income for the Sumber Jaya village community.

Abstract

Abstract

Air Terbit Village has a fisheries business unit known as Pembinaan Ikan Lele Mang Tata, which focuses on producing catfish seeds. This business unit applies a natural method in spawning Mutiara catfish to obtain seeds. One of the obstacles faced by this business unit is the lack of seed production. This is due to the use of natural spawning methods, traditional management, and suboptimal marketing. To increase seed production, it is necessary to identify quality broodstock and apply artificial spawning technology using funnel media. Community service activities aim to introduce artificial catfish spawning technology using funnel media to increase seed production and help overcome the challenges faced by farmers.

Abstract

Chitosan extracted from vannamei shrimp shells has the potential to act as an attractant for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) while also enhancing growth performance and digestibility in various fish species. This study evaluated the impact of chitosan supplementation in feed on Tilapia's growth rate and digestibility. The experiment was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatment groups and three replications. Fish were fed diets containing chitosan at 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% for 56 days. 525 tilapia fingerlings (2.50±0.41 g) were stocked in 15 floating net cages (1x1x1 m3). Feed was provided at 10% of the fish biomass three times daily at 08:00 AM, 01:00 PM, and 05:00 PM. The results indicated that chitosan supplementation significantly (P<0.05) influenced Tilapia's specific growth rate and digestibility. Among the tested levels, the 4% chitosan treatment yielded the highest values, including overall digestibility (52.38%), protein digestibility (74.72%), protein retention (27.27%), feed efficiency (34.77%), specific growth rate (3.33%), and 100% survival rate. These findings suggest that incorporating chitosan into tilapia feed can enhance growth performance and nutrient utilization.

Abstract

Fishing technology has undergone rapid development in response to sustainability challenges; however, a comprehensive global synthesis of its research progress and future directions remains lacking. To address this gap, this study explores global trends and prospects in fishing technology research using an innovative bibliometric approach. A total of 164 Scopus-indexed documents published between 2009 and 2023, authored by 179 researchers across 33 countries, were analyzed. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Biblioshiny application in the Bibliometrix R package, complemented by knowledge domain visualization (KDV) to map scientific structures, collaboration networks, and citation patterns. The results indicate an annual publication growth rate of 12.3%, reflecting increasing global interest in fishing technology. China was identified as the most productive country, with the strongest record of international collaboration, while Cooke SJ emerged as the most influential scholar, with a PageRank score of 0.0204 and accounting for 18.25% of global citations. Keyword mapping revealed research hotspots centered on sustainable development, selective fishing gear, and the integration of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence and electronic monitoring. This study concludes that bibliometric synthesis not only provides a strategic overview of global knowledge gaps and thematic evolution but also highlights the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration and technological innovation in shaping the future of sustainable fisheries management. Abstract

Compost training activities are carried out in the context of the Real Work Lecture (KUKERTA) work program for building villages or community service. This activity is in partnership with the Village and the Liang Banir Village PKK Group. In this case, we are highlighting a superior disaster mitigation program in nature conservation efforts, namely preventing environmental pollution with the aim of reducing piles of rubbish, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers for yard and horticultural plants, as well as reforesting yard and horticultural plants around the house. The target of this activity is that every household can improve the cleanliness and health of the environment and increase greening using homemade fertilizer. The results of the activity showed that participants acknowledged that this training could increase participants' understanding, improve participants' skills in utilizing organic kitchen waste as compost, and motivate participants in efforts to prevent pollution of the surrounding environment. It is hoped that the output of this activity will be applied by every household at home and in the surrounding environment.
