Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the difficulties of junior high school students in solving flat sided space problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The instruments in this study were mathematical problem solving questions on flat sided geometric material, and interview guidelines. The subjects of this study were 9 students of grade VIII junior high school. Sampling in this study used purposive sampling, namely by taking samples based on certain criteria. The results showed that students with low abilities had difficulty understanding questions, making plans for solving them and having difficulties implementing strategies or procedures to solve these problems. Students with moderate and high abilities have been able to carry out the problem solving process well. The results of this study provide recommendations that can be made to overcome students' difficulties in solving word problems including, training problem solving questions, developing teaching materials based on problem solving, providing scaffolding especially for students with low abilities, implementing various models and approaches based on problem solving abilities and using media learning

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan problem posing terhadap kemampuan berpikir matematis siswa. Adapun kemampuan berpikir matematis siswa yang diteliti adalah kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan kemampuan mengajukan pertanyaan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu, dengan desain pretest-postest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII dari sebuah Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) di kota Cirebon. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi lembar wawancara, lembar observasi, tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis dan tes kemampuan mengajukan pertanyaan matematis. Analisis data menggunakan uji regresi linier sederhana dan uji koefisien determinasi dengan data diasumsikan normal dan homogen. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa  terdapat pengaruh pendekatan problem posing terhadap kemampuan berpikir matematis siswa. Pendekatan problem posing memberikan pengaruh yang lebih besar terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif daripada kemampuan mengajukan pertanyaan. Melalui pendekatan problem posing, siswa akan semakin terbiasa mengajukan pertanyaan dan berpikir kreatif dalam menyelesaikan masalah.Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif Matematis, Kemampuan Mengajukan Masalah Matematis, Pendekatan Problem Posing.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mengembangkan materi ajar media pembelajaran berdasarkan kearifan lokal, dan (2) mengetahui kualitas dan kelayakan bahan ajar berbasis ahli material, pakar media, peer reviewer, dalam hal ini adalah dosen media/multimedia belajar matematika. Model pengembangan yang digunakan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran, dalam penelitian ini adalah memodifikasi dari model yang dikenal dengan Model 4D. Modifikasi yang dilakukan adalah penyederhanaan model dari empat tahap menjadi tiga tahap, yaitu: (1) Define, (2) Design, dan (3) Develop. Tahap penyebaran terbatas pada lokasi penelitian, hal ini dilakukan karena keterbatasan waktu peneliti. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui lembar validasi bahan ajar dan teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan cara kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Melalui proses pengembangan penelitian diperoleh alat pembelajaran matematika dalam bentuk modul media berdasarkan kearifan lokal yang valid yaitu 74,67.Kata kunci: Pengembangan Modul, Kearifan Lokal, Bahan Ajar Abstract. The existing teaching materials or learning media have not adequately integrated, explored the values of local wisdom, although they have met some of the eligibility criteria of the textbook, that is, the content of the content, presentation, language, and the feasibility of the graphics. However, the material still has not raised the richness of local culture. The purpose of this research is (1) to develop teaching materials of learning media based on local wisdom, and (2) to know the quality and feasibility of teaching materials based on material expert, media expert, peer reviewer, in this case is lecturer of media / multimedia learning mathematics. The research method used is experimental method with development model, development model used to develop learning device, in this research is to modify from model known as Four-D Model. Modifications made are simplification of the model from four stages into three stages, namely: (1) Define, (2) Design, and (3) Develope. The deployment stage is limited to the research site, this is done because of the limited time of the researcher. Through the process of development research obtained by learning tools of mathematics in the form of a media module based on valid local wisdom of 74.67.Keywords : Module’s Development, Local Wisdom, Teaching Materials

Abstract

Penggunaan media digital pada era revolusi industry 4.0 menjadi sebuah inovasi sekaligus penunjang dalam pembelajaran terutama matematika. Pada umumnya pembelajaran matematika identik dengan soal latihan yang harus diselesaikan siswa setelah guru menjelaskan materi. Pemberian soal yang konvensional seringkali membuat siswa jenuh, mudah menyerah dan kurang diminati. Namun sayangnya tidak semua guru mengetahui dan tanggap terhadap pemanfaatan IT dalam proses pembejaran, termasuk di sekolah mitra yaitu SDN Satu Atap Kabupaten Sumber. Tujuan kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah memberikan pelatihan media digital sebagai alat bantu belajar pada mata pelajaran matematika di SDN Satu Atap Sumber. Metode dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu tanya jawab, demonstrasi dan simulasi. Adapun alur atau tahapan kegiatan pengabdian diawali dengan analisis situasi mitra, koordinasi, penyusunan materi pelatihan, kegiatan pelatihan, evaluasi kegiatan, penyusunan laporan. Hasil dari pelatihan media digital sebagai alat bantu belajar diantaranya menambah pengetahuan guru terkait pemanfaatan IT sebagai alat bantu belajar, jumlah peserta yang hadir sesuai dengan target, adanya respons positif peserta dalam kegiatan PKM, antusiasme dan ketertarikan peserta yang sangat tinggi .

Abstract

Based on The Regulation of The Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology No.17 of 2021, cognitive learning outcomes consist of literacy and numeracy as measured through a minimum competency assessment (MCA) with grade 5, 8, and 11. The subjects in this study are 42 students of grade VIII (second grade) from state Junior High School 4 Cirebon and State Junior High School 2 Cirebon, Indonesia. The instruments were tests of numeracy literacy skills, documentation, and interviews. Purposive sampling was used to determine the subject of analysis of test results and interviews. The data were analyzed descriptively through the following stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawing. The results showed that the research subjects are still not familiar with numeracy literacy questions which have the characteristics of always being preceded by texts, not understanding what is known and asked in the questions so they tend to blindly guess the answers and needed to be reminded of the prerequisite material. Based on the results of this study, teachers can develop learning media, project-based learning, scaffolding, and teaching materials that accommodate numeracy skills or differentiated learning.

Abstract

Various problems are faced by teachers, students, and parents when studying online during the Covid-19 pandemic. The teachers feel the overload upon students studying at home and completing school assignments. There is a need for innovation in assigning tasks to be more fun instead of a burden. One such innovation is using Quizizz. This community service aims to improve teachers’ competence in making online evaluations through the Quizizz application. The method applied to carry out the service is lectures, questions and answers, and practice. Nineteen teachers of Sadagori 1 Elementary School in Cirebon City participated in the program. The result showed that the teachers’ ability to make online quizzes using Quizizz increased to 100%. Beginner teachers who have never used or known the Quizizz application before could easily create and publish quizzes in Google Classroom. The involvement of tutors in each group helped the teachers to practice making quizzes using Quizizz. The participants were very enthusiastic about participating in the training. Hopefully, the training will be continued in the future.

Abstract

Objective: Understanding lines and angles serves as the foundation for further mathematical topics such as trigonometry, geometry, calculus, etc. Students may struggle with advanced mathematical reasoning and problem-solving without a firm grasp of these basic concepts. This study aims to investigate how students' mathematical understanding processes are based on the folding back theory. Method: The research utilizes a qualitative approach with descriptive eksploratif design. Two subjects were selected from 28 seventh-grade students, each representing the field-dependent and field-independent cognitive style. Data was collected through mathematical comprehension tests, GEFT tests, and interviews. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and verification stages, with each subject being interviewed to verify the processes. Results: Based on the research results, students in the field-independent cognitive style were much more active and better understood the problem-solving process than those in the field-dependent. However, both subjects still required learning assistance. Novelty: This research explores the folding back theory in the mathematical understanding process based on cognitive styles, whereas previous studies have mainly focused on mathematical comprehension abilities. Therefore, further research would benefit from using instructional media to better engage students in understanding the material.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to examine the reading literacy and numeracy skills of Grade VII Junior High School students. This study employs a quantitative descriptive approach. The participants of this study consisted of 35 pupils. Explore methodologies for gathering research data through the utilisation of tests. The research instrument employed was a standardised assessment sheet designed to measure proficiency in reading literacy and numeracy skills. Both the reading literacy exam and the numeracy ability test encompass three cognitive levels. The employed data analysis technique involves calculating the mean value, conducting a regression test, and determining the coefficient of determination. The study findings indicate that the mean reading proficiency surpasses numeracy, however both remain suboptimal. These figures are demonstrated by the mean score of 60.46 on the reading exam and 33.71 on the numeracy test. There is a favourable association between literacy and numeracy ability, which is somewhat interpreted. The proficiency in reading and writing has a significant impact on one's capacity to perform mathematical calculations, accounting for a substantial proportion of 16.8%. The remaining portion is influenced by several other elements. The findings of this study suggest that teachers should incorporate AKM questions into their teaching practices to help students develop a habit of reading and comprehending questions. It is anticipated that this approach will lead to a substantial improvement in students' literacy and numeracy scores.

Abstract

 Beberapa guru di Kabupaten Cirebon belum termotivasi dan belum memiliki pemahaman yang memadai tentang penulisan artikel ilmiah berkualitas sehingga dapat menghambat pengembangan professional dan kontribusi mereka pada dunia Pendidikan. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini ditujukan kepada guru-guru di lembaga pendidikan Kabupaten Cirebon melalui Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) SMP Kab. Cirebon. Rencana kegiatan mencakup persiapan dengan menyusun modul pelatihan virtual, sosialisasi, dan pendataan peserta. Selanjutnya, tahap pelaksanaan melibatkan webinar, monitoring penulisan artikel, dan evaluasi pelatihan. Langkah terakhir mencakup penyusunan laporan akhir dan publikasi artikel ilmiah ke jurnal terakreditasi. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memotivasi guru-guru untuk menulis artikel ilmiah, meningkatkan pemahaman mereka dalam penulisan artikel berkualitas, dan mendampingi mereka dalam proses penulisan dan publikasi. Manfaat yang diharapkan termasuk motivasi guru, minimal satu draf artikel ilmiah, dan kemampuan mengubah hasil penelitian menjadi artikel terpublikasi. Tujuan jangka panjangnya adalah meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan guru matematika di Kabupaten Cirebon dalam menyusun artikel ilmiah. Laporan akhir yang diharapkan adalah artikel ilmiah terpublikasi dalam jurnal pengabdian masyarakat atau media massa Radar Cirebon. Metode yang akan digunakan melibatkan webinar, diskusi, tanya jawab, dan simulasi untuk membantu guru mengelola referensi menggunakan perangkat lunak. Pelatihan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan profesionalisme guru dan menerima tanggapan positif dari pihak sekolah. Guru perlu membiasakan diri menulis artikel ilmiah dan mempublikasikannya dalam jurnal nasional untuk memperkuat kontribusi mereka di bidang pendidikan.

Abstract

Math education aims to develop thinking skills and promote problem-solving using math. Unfortunately, students often find it dull, leading them to rely on memorization instead of grasping concepts. Mathematical literacy involves using math in everyday situations, requiring reasoning and concept application. This study used a descriptive qualitative method to explore how eighth-grade students approach math literacy problems from a cognitive perspective. The instruments used in this research include tests, interviews, observations, and documentation. Subjects were chosen by giving numeracy problems to 25 AKM program participants, and then three subjects were selected for in-depth interviews based on cognitive level. Data analysis involved data reduction, examining results and semi-structured interview responses for verbal expressions of thinking processes related to math literacy at different cognitive levels. Based on the results of this research, subjects with high abilities demonstrated a deep understanding of the problems, organized information very well, used prior knowledge and experience to make attempts, and engaged in reflection and evaluation of the answers obtained. In summary, students with varying cognitive levels showed good math literacy skills, as evidenced by all three subjects successfully meeting the descriptors of the thinking process when solving math literacy problems
