Abstract

Existence of parrotfish in Bali, especially at Kedonganan fish market, Badung Regency are already familiar for local society and visitors. However, the research about parrotfish specifically about parasites is still scarce. One factor that cause the decrease of fish quality is diseases caused by the presence of parasites in the fish body. This study aims to determine the various types of ectoparasite, abundance, prevalence, relationship between length or weight and number of parasites in the parrotfish (Family Scaridae). The sample of research were collected from Kedonganan fish market, Badung Regency, Bali from November until Desember 2019. The research was used a descriptive methods with purposive sampling technique. Ectoparasites found in the 35 gills of parrotfish were Gnathia sp. (492 ind), Hatschekia sp. (156 ind), and Haliotrema sp. (1.186 ind). The highest ectoparasite abundance is Haliotrema sp. (33.88 ind/fish) while the highest ectoparasite prevalence was Gnathia sp. (80.00%) and belong to a “usually” of infection level. The correlation between the length and number of parasites is in the “medium” level with the value of correlation (r) was 0,460 while the correlation between the weight and number of parasites was in the “medium” level with the value (r) was 0.502.

Abstract

Kedonganan Fish Landing Port is part of Bali Strait which is one of longtail tuna habitat. There was no study about biological parameters on longtail tuna in Bali Strait especially in Kedonganan fish landing port. This study aims to determine fullness gastric contents of the longtail tuna landed at the Kedonganan Fish Landing Port and find out the composition and type of food contained in the stomach of the longtail tuna. This research was carried out for 5 months from October 2018 to January 2019. Analysis data used included percentage of 1 type of food, frequency of occurrence and index of gastric fullness. The results showed that the type of food found in the longtail tuna gut were small fish, squid and dissolved food. The frequency of occurrence of small fish has a percentage 80.5%, which means small fish is the main food of longtail tuna. The highest gastric fullness index was in November 2018 which showed that in November 2018 longtail tuna was actively looking for food. Longtail tuna is actively looking for food, but the eating activities decreased which is suspected at that time the availability of food decreased because of southwest monsoon. The food that contained in the longtail tuna gut were small fish, squid and dissolved food. Longtail tuna is a carnivorous fish because its main food was small fish and can be classified as stenophagic. Longtail tuna usually looking for food in the area around Uluwatu, Nusa Dua and Takacamung

Abstract

Ornamental fish, both freshwater and seawater fish, are commodities that are in great demand by the community and have a great opportunity to be developed. Pigmentation in ornamental fish has an important role in the brightness of fish colour. Clown fish (Amphiprion ocellaris) is one of the ornamental fishes that requires carotenoids as a source of nutrition in the formation of body colour. The purpose of this research is to investigated the effect of different colour of culture containers on the quality improvement of the clown fish body colour and on the of growth and survival rate of cultured clown fish. The research method used was an experimental method. The size of clown fish used in this study were 4-5 cm and cultured in black, white, blue, and yellow containers. The results of this study showed that the colour of different maintenance containers has no effect on the total value of carotenoids found in skin or fish fins. However, visually the colour of different maintenance containers has an influence on each colour of the clown fish. The best value for total carotenoids was obtained using a white colour container. The growth rate at each treatment shows a difference in each week. Clown fish have the ability to live in bright and dark environmental conditions, therefore the treatment of different container colours does not affect the survival of clown fish.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the prevalence and intensity of parasitic infections in layur fish (T. lepturus) sold in Kedonganan Fish Market. Layur fish (T. lepturus) were studied as many as 40 birds and identified in the Fisheries Science Laboratory, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University. Parasites observed were ectoparasites and endoparasites. The results of the research data were analyzed by calculating the difference in prevalence, intensity of infection, and correlation test to determine the relationship between length and intensity, weight with intensity, and descriptive calculation to determine the level of infection in various organs. The results showed that the prevalence of parasitic infections in layur fish (T. lepturus) marketed in the Kedonganan Fish Market was included in the ‘always’ category with a value of 95%. According to William and Bunkley (1996), this ‘always’ category illustrates that ordinary parasites infect fish by 90-98%. The intensity of parasitic infections was 815 parasitic individuals with an average intensity of 21.44 parasites / fish. After a correlation test, the relationship between the length and weight of the fish with the intensity of parasitic infection was positively correlated but with a weak relationship with values ??of 0.029 and 0.146, where each fish increased in length and weight, it did not necessarily increase the intensity of parasitic infections.

Abstract

The Indian scad (Decapterus russeli) is a pelagic fish that has high economic value, found throughout the Indonesian waters. The availability of Indian scad resources makes this fish easy to find, especially in Kedonganan Beach, Bali. The use of Indian scad for human consumption makes it necessary to pay attention to the quality of indian scad in order to avoid fish diseases, such as parasites. The attack of endoparasites in Indian scad can be zoonotic, which can be dangerous for humans who consume them, so research is needed to determine the density of endoparasite attacks and the percentage of endoparasites in indian scad. Samples of Indian scad (D. russeli) were obtained randomly from PPI Kedonganan and Kedonganan Fish Market. The observed organs were intestines, gonads and liver. The research was conducted for 1 month from 16 December 2020 to 17 January 2021 and fish samples were taken by random sampling. There were 35 fish samples (D. russeli) examined. The endoparasites found were Anisakis sp. (316 individuals), Camallanus sp. (15 individuals), and Lecithocirium sp. (33 individuals). The highest intensity in the genus Anisakis was 9.2 ind/fish and was classified as moderate infection and the highest prevalence was also in the Anisakis genus, which was 97.14% with (almost always categories), 60% of the genus Lecithocirium (very frequent categories), and the Camallanus genus of 28.50% with (frequent category).

Abstract

The prospect of developing freshwater fish farming development in Indonesia has been promising. One of the freshwater fish commodities that has a high economic value and market demand is tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). This research aims to determine the optimal sex ratio for tilapia broodstock to produce the best quantity and quality of tilapia larvae. The research was conducted in December 2019 to February 2020 at Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) Pasar Benih Ikan dan Balai Benih Ikan Denpasar. The method use is an experimental with complete random design with 3 treatments and 3 replicates. The sex ratio for this research was a ratio between males and females of 1:2, 1:3, 1:4. Observed parameters were fish larvae quantity, absolute weight and length tilapian larvae, survival rate tilapia larvae and water quality. The results of this research showed that sex ratio of tilapia has a significant effect (P < 0,05) on the quantity of tilapia larvae, with the highest quantity was obtained from the treatment B (sex ratio of 1:3) about 1305±393 individu, but the quality of the tilapia larvae e.g. absolute weight, length and survival rate were not significantly influenced by sex ratio of tilapia broodstock (P > 0,05). Water quality parameter including temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO) and potential of hydrogen (pH) were still at a range that supports tilapia life during the research period. Abstract

Abstract

Culture media is one of the important factors for microalgae growth. Adding fertilizer to culture media can influence the density of Spirulina sp. The use of rice water can be used as an alternative fertilizer for culture media because it is good for the growth of Spirulina sp. Rice water contains nutrients including nitrogen, phosphorus and vitamin B1. This study aims to determine the effect and determine the concentration of rice water media on the growth rate of Spirulina sp. culture. The experiment was conducted in December 2018 to January 2019 at Greath Hall of Brackishwater Aquaculture Fisheries (BBPBAP) Jepara, Central Java. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The test material in the study was Spirulina sp. with an initial density of 5×103 cells/ml and the fertilizer used is rice water and walne. The main parameters observed were Spirulina sp. cell density. while the supporting parameters observed were measurements of temperature, pH, DO, salinity, nitrate and phosphate. The dosage of adding rice washing water is treatment A1 (1 mL/L), A2 (3 mL/L), A3 (5 mL/L), K- (0 mL/L) and K + using walne fertilizer with an optimum dose of 0.5 mL/L. The results showed that the addition of rice water had a positive effect on the growth rate of Spirulina sp. The addition of rice water produces the optimum growth rate in treatment A1 which is equal to 0.57±0.001 cells/day. The ANOVA test results showed that the addition of rice water had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the growth rate of Spirulina sp.
