Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence technology, particularly ChatGPT, has created new opportunities to support students’ academic writing processes. However, completing a final thesis remains challenging due to limited scientific writing skills, difficulties in finding references, and low levels of efficiency, effectiveness, and writing quality. The utilization of ChatGPT is considered an alternative solution to assist students in overcoming these obstacles, enabling a more optimal thesis-writing process. This study aims to determine the level of ChatGPT usage, analyze the optimization of final thesis writing, and examine the effect of ChatGPT usage on the optimization of thesis writing among students of the Pancasila and Civic Education Study Program, University of Lampung, Class of 2022. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method, involving 64 students as respondents. Primary data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The results indicate that the use of ChatGPT is categorized as high in terms of usage intensity and skills, while the optimization of thesis writing is also classified as high in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and quality. Statistically, ChatGPT usage has a significant effect on the optimization of thesis writing, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, ChatGPT plays a positive role in improving the speed, accuracy, and quality of thesis writing, while still requiring critical thinking and academic ethics to maintain the originality of scientific work.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The present study aimed to examine the effect of the phone-snubbing (phubbing) phenomenon on the civic disposition of students in the Civic Education (PPKn) Study Program at the University of Lampung. This research employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The subjects of the study were PPKn students from the 2022, 2023, and 2024 cohorts, with a total sample of 75 respondents. Data were collected using primary techniques, namely questionnaires, and supported by interviews. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 25. The findings revealed a significant negative effect of phubbing on students’ civic disposition, as indicated by a simple linear regression test with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.312, showing that phubbing contributed 31.2% to the variation in civic disposition. The regression coefficient of -0.640 suggested that higher phubbing intensity corresponded to lower civic disposition. This relationship may be influenced by indicators such as communication disturbance and phone obsession, which were shown to adversely affect the quality of social interactions and various aspects of civic disposition, including academic responsibility, self-discipline, social awareness, politeness, and the ability to listen and compromise. These results highlight the importance of addressing phubbing behaviors to foster civic character development among university students. Keywords: phubbing, civic disposition, students, civic character

Abstract

This study developed and tested a Deep Learning-Based Character-Strengthening Education Model for Pancasila Education at the junior high school level in Bandar Lampung City, Indonesia. Using a mixed-methods design integrated with Research and Development (R&D), the study proceeded through six stages, from preliminary participatory observation and prototype development to expert and teacher validation, quasi-experimental testing, multilevel statistical analysis, and final model refinement. Participants comprised teachers and students from junior high schools across Bandar Lampung City, selected through random sampling. The results showed that understanding of Pancasila concepts increased by 25% in the experimental group, compared with 10% in the control group, with character-strengthening indicators – tolerance, integrity, responsibility and cooperation – also registering significantly greater gains (p < 0.05). Teacher implementation quality, school environmental support and student engagement emerged as key mediators of the model’s effectiveness. The findings indicate that embedding mindful, meaningful and joyful learning principles within Pancasila Education strengthens both conceptual understanding and student character more effectively than conventional, teacher-centred approaches. The model offers a practical, empirically validated framework for character-based citizenship education in Indonesian schools and contributes to broader debates on deep-learning pedagogies in civic and moral education.
