Abstract

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are infections that are transmitted through sexual contact as well as outside of sexual contact. Transmitted through sexual contact can be vaginal, anal or oral; and sexual contact can come through contaminated objects, such as needles. Because Indonesia is the fifth country with the risk of sexually transmitted infections. So, this community service is carried out to reduce the incidence of sexually transmitted infections as well as prevent casual sex and increase students' insight. Most of these incidents are experienced by teenagers to young adults, namely around the age of 15-24 years. Students carrying out community service at the Indonesian Methodist Faculty of Agriculture were very enthusiastic when listening and had high curiosity about the information provided regarding Sexually Transmitted Infections.

Abstract

PONV (Post Operative Nausea and Vomiting) or post-operative nausea and vomiting is a side effect that is often found after surgery and anesthesia. For patients, PONV is felt to be very disturbing, so PONV is called the big little problem. Factors related to PONV are patient factors, anesthesia factors, and surgical factors. Regarding surgical factors, the type of surgery that is at high risk for PONV is orthopedic surgery (22%). In addition, the relatively long duration of surgery and excessive surgical manipulation can also cause PONV in orthopedic surgery. To identify risk factors for PONV, a calculation for PONV has been developed. Based on research from (Donnerer, 2003), data from Koivuranta et al was combined with Apfel et al in developing this PONV risk score. The PONV risk score indicates that there are 4 (four) initial factors in determining PONV risk factors, namely female gender, history of PONV or motion sickness, history of not smoking, and history of using postoperative opioids to treat pain. Not only PONV risk factor scores for adult patients, there are also PONV risk factor scores for pediatric patients or Postoperative Vomiting in Children score. POVOC score is simplified as follows with the risk factor of duration of surgery 30 minutes, age 3 years, strabismus surgery, and positive history of PONV or motion sickness from parents or siblings. In preventing the occurrence of PONV, two approaches can be taken, namely a pharmacological approach and a non-pharmacological approach. The pharmacological approaches used are ondansetron and metoclopramide. Ondansetron is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Whereas Metoclopramide inhibits dopamine (D2) receptors centrally and peripherally. This study aims to examine studies on the use of antiemetic drugs in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting in orthopedic surgery patients at Rumkital in April 2023. The research was conducted in a cross-sectional-prospective manner and has been declared "ethically appropriate". The inclusion criteria for the research sample were patients undergoing orthopedic surgery who received antiemetic drug therapy as prophylaxis for postoperative nausea and vomiting in April 2023. From the results of research on orthopedic surgery patients who received antiemetic drug therapy as prophylaxis in preventing post-operative nausea and vomiting in accordance with the inclusion criteria, namely 31 patients, dominated by male patients (74.2%) with the highest age being 40 years (51.6%). Type of orthopedic surgery undertaken by Of the 31 patients, the largest were ORIF (19.4%) and Femur Column Fracture (ORIF) (19.4%). In this study, there were only 2 types of risk factors that patients had, namely 3 patients with a frequency of PONV who had 1 number of risk factors (history of not smoking) and as many as 3 patients with a frequency of PONV who also had 2 number of risk factors (female and history of not smoking). Meanwhile, the types of antiemetic drugs used were metoclopramide 10 mg IV (64.5%) and ondansetron 2 mg, 4 mg, and 8 mg IV (35.5%). The dose of antiemetic drug given and the time of administration to the patient are in accordance with literature recommendations. PONV only occurred in 9 patients (29%) of 31 orthopedic surgery patients in this study. Of the 9 patients, 8 patients used metoclopramide 10 mg IV and 1 patient used ondansetron 8 mg IV. This indicates that metoclopramide 10 mg IV is not effective in preventing PONV. Furthermore, 2 types of DRP were identified where one patient could experience more than one type of DRP. The DRP identified included drug side effects such as constipation, dizziness, chest pain, GI tract disorders and potential drug interactions, namely dexamethasone with ondansetron (9.7%) and tramadol with ondansetron (16.1%).

Abstract

Flood disasters often cause various health problems such as skin diseases, diarrhea, acute respiratory infections, and leptospirosis due to environmental contamination and limited access to health services. This community service activity aimed to provide free medical treatment for flood-affected communities as an effort to prevent disease transmission and improve public health status. The activity was carried out through health examinations, medication distribution, health education, and environmental sanitation counseling. The target participants were residents affected by flooding in the designated area. The results showed that most patients experienced skin infections, diarrhea, fever, and respiratory tract infections. Health education increased community awareness regarding clean and healthy living behavior after floods. Free medical services were proven to be effective in reducing complaints and preventing more serious complications among the affected population.

Abstract

Background : Lumbar radiculopathy may arise from the compression oflumbosacral nerve roots, leading to pain and disability. We report a caseof chronic lumbar radiculopathy that was successfully treated withperipheral blood stem cells over 24 weeks.Case Presentation : A 62-year-old woman with sharp pain in the back, radiating to both lower legs. Her pain became intense when she waswalking about 200 meters, and has been happening for 2 years. She felland hit her back 7 years ago, and refused to undergo spine surgery in ahospital. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed facet joint hypertrophyand thickening of the ligamentum flavum at L3/L4, L4/L5, and narrowingof the spinal canal. The pretreatment numerical pain rating (NPR) scorewas 7 (out of 10), and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) for low backpain was 19 or 38% (19/50 x100%). She was administered a 5-day courseof granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF, 5mg/kg/day)subcutaneously, followed by leukapheresis on the fifth day. Circulatingand intravenous infusion of autologous peripheral blood stem cells wereanalyzed using flow cytometry. She also received transforaminal injectionsof 3 ml of peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs) at each affected lumbarlevel. Peripheral blood CD34+ cells increased fro-treatment, the percentage reductions in pain and ODI were 100% and79.0%, respectively. There were no serious adverse effects from theprocedure. Conclusion: Autologous peripheral blood stem cells are an effectivetreatment for chronic lumbar radiculopathy. Keywords : lumbar radiculopathy, peripheral blood stem cells, spinalstenosis, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, leukapheresis

Abstract

Healthcare acquired infections/HAIs (nosocomial infection) is a growing problem in developing and developed country around the world and one of the contributing factors in the increasing of morbidity, mortality and cost of treatment in hospital. One way to prevent HAIs is by increasing adherence of hand hygiene practice in healthcare workers, including nurses, especially in rooms with high risk of HAIs incidents. This study aims to understand the effect of health belief model (HBM) on the adherence of hand hygiene practice of nurses in rooms with high HAIs risk. A total number of 170 nurses who worked in high HAIs risk enrolled in this study. All nurses then asked to fill questionnaire which consist of demographic factors, experience, personal beliefs, cue to action, and self-efficacy. During this study, all nurses hand hygiene practice also observed directly by researcher. This study found that demographic factor, personal belief, cue to action and self-efficacy have no significant relationship with hand hygiene practice adherence (p>0.05), whilst modifying factor like experience shown to have significant relationship with adherence of hand hygiene practice (p<0.05). Demographic factor, personal belief, cue to action, and self-efficacy component of HBM can’t predict the adherence of hand hygiene practice. However, modifying factor in HBM such as experience can predict the adherence of hand hygiene practice.
