Abstract

Sari EK, Lucyana L. 2020. Economic valuation of water quality condition ogan river against the clean water in the district of Ogan Komering Ulu. Jurnal Lahan Suboptimal : Journal of Suboptimal Lands 9(2): 139-148. The existence of the Ogan River has experienced a reduction in water quality, this is caused activities from the community such as disposing household waste and dumping industrial waste into the river. This fact causes the need of protecting the quality of  Ogan river water by using Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum (PDAM) and shallow wells to fulfill the needs of clean water for the community. The use of shallow wells and PDAM caused economic losses to the community. They raise extra costs or replacement costs that must be paid by the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the community's perception of the impact of river water quality and to determine the cost of replacement by using the replacement cost method that must be spent by the community around the Ogan River Basin Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. The method used descriptive analysis, and a replacement cost approach for a year. The total population of 3,329 is family head (KK).  The samples in this study amounted to 149 KK. The perception of people who want to improve the quality of the river Ogan by 90.6 percent and of  88.6 percent of the public said it would remain in the vicinity of the Ogan River despite the condition  change or increasingly bad. . In this study was take the reason people remain 51 percent is due to an economic factor. Regarding the economic valuation of clean water aspects, 71.8 percent of the people use PDAM, 25.5 percent use well water and 2.7 percent use river water as a source of clean water. The estimated cost of replacement costs incurred for one year is Rp102,510,000 and the need for clean water is 20,502 m3/year. The total costs incurred by the community amounted to Rp 357,852,500.

Abstract

The Smallholder Oil Palm Replanting Program is one of the national strategic policies aimed at improving the productivity and welfare of oil palm farmers by replacing damaged or aged oil palm trees with certified high-yielding seeds and implementing good agricultural practices. This program has been implemented since 2019 in Gunung Megang Subdistrict, Muara Enim Regency; however, no research has yet been conducted to quantitatively measure the impact of this program on increasing farmers’ productivity and income after the plants enter the productive phase. The study employed a survey method using a descriptive and comparative quantitative approach involving 85 respondents selected via simple random sampling. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, a paired-sample t-test, and effect size. The research results show that the Smallholder Oil Palm Replanting Program has been proven to increase oil palm plantation productivity by 13.73 metric tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) per hectare per year by 2025. However, oil palm plantation productivity has not yet reached its potential of 15–17 metric tons per hectare per year for 5–6-year-old trees. The results of the paired-sample t-test indicate that the Smallholder Oil Palm Replanting Program has a significant effect on increasing farmers’ productivity and income.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly influenced educational practices, including at the elementary school level. Smartphones and computers are increasingly accessible to students; however, improper and uncontrolled use may lead to negative impacts such as decreased learning focus, exposure to inappropriate content, and excessive screen time. This community service program aims to improve digital literacy and promote wise use of smartphones and computers among elementary school students in Batumarta II Village. The program employed an educational and participatory approach through interactive learning sessions, guided discussions, and practical demonstrations. Data were collected through observation, participant interaction, and reflective evaluation. The results indicate an improvement in students’ understanding of responsible technology use, digital ethics, and the ability to differentiate beneficial and harmful digital content. Students also demonstrated increased awareness of time management and appropriate digital behavior. This program highlights that early digital education is essential to shaping positive attitudes toward technology use. Sustainable collaboration between schools, parents, and community stakeholders is recommended to strengthen long-term digital literacy development among elementary school students.

Abstract

Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) is a form of student community engagement aimed at applying academic knowledge directly to society. This KKN activity was carried out at PAUD Sinar Pelangi, Purwodono Hamlet, Batumarta II Village, with a focus on optimizing early childhood motor development through educational play activities. Early childhood is a critical period that requires appropriate stimulation to support optimal physical growth and development, particularly in gross and fine motor skills. Based on observations conducted during the KKN program, it was found that the motor development of children at PAUD Sinar Pelangi had not yet been fully optimized due to limited variations of structured educational play activities. Therefore, educational play activities such as drawing, coloring, and pencil sharpening were implemented as stimulation to improve children’s fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. The implementation method used was direct learning through guided educational play activities, where children actively participated under supervision and assistance. The results of this activity showed positive responses from the children, indicated by increased enthusiasm, creativity, and participation during the learning process. In addition, these activities contributed to improving children’s fine motor skills. It is expected that this program can increase awareness among teachers, parents, and the community regarding the importance of educational play as a means of stimulating early childhood motor development. Furthermore, this activity is hoped to serve as a reference for the continued application of educational play activities in daily learning at PAUD Sinar Pelangi

Abstract

Abstract. Sari EK, Mulyana A, Antoni M, Adriani D. 2022. Economic values of environmental services of three forest areas in South Ogan Komering Ulu District, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 23: 6180-6190. Forest provides environmental services in the form of provisioning, regulating, supporting and cultural services. However, forest is often valued from its timber products, neglecting its broader role in delivering environmental services especially its role in maintaining ecological functions. Forests in South Ogan Komering Ulu District, South Sumatra, Indonesia have high ecological importance in delivering environmental services, yet these forests are pressured by clearing and conversion into plantations and agriculture. The study aimed to comprehensively calculate the total economic value of environmental services delivered by three forest areas in South Ogan Komering Ulu, namely Gunung Raya Wildlife Reserve, Saka Production Forest and Saka Limited Production Forest. We calculated total economic value by incorporating the use value, which consists of direct use value and indirect use value, and the non-use value, which consists of option value, existence value and bequest value. The results revealed that the total economic value of the three forest areas is IDR 863,868,883,037. In more detail, the use value consisted of direct use value with IDR 354,378,792,460 contributing to 41.02% and indirect use value with IDR 509,309,370,324 contributing to 58.96% to the total economic value. The non-use value is from the option value, the existence value and bequest value with IDR 97,449,120 (0.01%), IDR 65,512,153 (0.01%) and IDR 17,758,980 (0.0021), respectively. Our study implies that forest has tremendous ecological functions which provide a very high economic value and environmental services, where these functions are often neglected.

Abstract

Abstract

Landslides are natural disasters caused by slope instability resulting from geomorphological, hydrological, and human activity factors. This phenomenon can occur suddenly or gradually, causing significant impacts on infrastructure, safety, and community access. In North Tanah Abang Village, Tanah Abang District, PALI Regency, the landslide risk is quite high due to steep topography, erosion of the Lematang River, and human activities such as deforestation and sand mining. Risk analysis through parameters such as geology, topography, rainfall, and land use indicates a moderate to high danger level in this area. Effective mitigation efforts include structural approaches like terracing and retaining walls, as well as non-structural approaches such as reforestation, community education, and land use regulation. The implementation of early warning systems is also a crucial step in reducing the impacts and losses caused by landslides. Through these measures, it is expected that the landslide disaster risk in this region can be minimized and community preparedness improved.
