Abstract

Salah satu kebutuhan pembelajaran adalah buku ajar. Buku ajar yang baik tentunya harus memenuhi kebutuhan siswa dan kompetensi yang hendak dicapai. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan di Universitas Muhammadiyah diketahui bahwa terdapat mahasiwa asing dari Thailand yang menempuh kuliah dalam rangka pertukaran pelajaran/mahasiswa. Mahasiswa ini diketahui sebagai mahasiswa baru karena di negaranya baru lulus sekolah setingkat SMA. Selain itu diketahui juga bahwa kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia masih kurang lancar, dan dapat dikatakan mereka pada level pemula. Mahasiwa asing ini hanya bisa menggunakan bahasa Thai dan bahasa Melayu untuk percakapan saat di kampus. Berdasarkan keadaan seperti inilah yang melatarbelakangi peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian pengembangan buku ajar BIPA pada keterampilan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan. Model yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diadaptasi dari model penelitian ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development or Production, Implementation or Delivery and Evaluations). Namun dalam penelitian ini hanya sampai tahap implementasi saja. Data yang diharapkan pada penelitian ini adalah data deskripsi tulis dan numerik. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan kesimpulan sebagai berikut. (a) buku ajar BIPA dinyatakan cocok dan sesuai. (b) Materi dan kompetensi sesuai dengan tingkat pemula BIPA. (c) Dimensi buku memudahkan pembelajar BIPA. (e) Ini merupakan produk yang sangat diharapkan oleh mahasiswa asing yang ada di Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan upacara tedak siten sebagai pengenal budaya lokal bagi pembelajar BIPA. Peran budaya daerah sangat memengaruhi budaya bangsa karena budaya daerah menjadi modal utama untuk mempertahankan jati diri/ identitas bangsa dari rongrongan budaya barat yang belum tentu cocok dengan kebudayaan di Indonesia. Budaya daerah/ harus terus kita lestarikan dan kita pertahankan. Karena dengan melestarikan budaya leluhur, diharapkan dapat menjadi landasan untuk lebih mencintai budaya sendiri, di era Bangsa Indonesia yang semakin maju. Budaya daerah dapat diperkenalkan kepada pembelajar Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA). Hal itu bertujuan agar warga asing mengetahui bahwa Indonesia kaya akan budaya. Dengan begitu, negara lain tidak lagi mengakui budaya daerah. Contoh budaya daerah yang dapat dijadikan sebagai materi ajar BIPA adalah upacara tedak siten. Upacara ini dilakukan ketika seorang bayi berusia tujuh bulan dan mulai belajar duduk dan berjalan di tanah.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk menghasilkan produk mobile learning yang menggunakan teknik gamifikasi dan teknologi speech recognition yang valid sebagai media belajar dan efektif untuk melatih pelafalan mahasiswa BIPA. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang menggunakan model Lee & Owens dan divalidasi oleh 1 orang ahli media, 1 orang ahli materi dan 1 orang ahli desain pembelajaran gamifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi ini valid dan efektif untuk pembelajaran, mahasiswa berhasil menuntaskan materi, latihan soal serta mencapai standar pembelajaran yang ditetapkan.

Abstract

Character education is an important part in the world of education that functions to develop and shape the character and civilization of a dignified nation in order to educate the nation's life. One way to shape children's character is by introducing children's songs that contain positive values and moral messages in it. This study discusses the values of character education in children's songs which can also be a medium for BIPA learning. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The research results obtained are in line with what is needed in the research.

Abstract

The design of Indonesian language for foreign speakers (BIPA) teaching materials based on Gorontalo folklore has considerable potential to help preserve Gorontalo culture. This study aims to describe the needs for BIPA teaching materials based on Gorontalo folklore, the implementation design of BIPA teaching materials based on Gorontalo folklore, and the feasibility of implementing BIPA teaching materials based on Gorontalo folklore in the BIPA Learning Resources and Media course. This development research involved teaching materials used in learning BIPA resources and media obtained by observation, surveys, and documentation of BIPA majoring students in the department of letters and culture, faculty of letters and culture, UNG, and collected for three months. Those data were further analyzed using qualitative techniques with three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions/data verification. The results show that the level of need for teaching materials is very high. It can be seen from the results obtained that the overall average for students is 4.5%, and for lecturers/material experts, it is 4.8%. In addition, this study also assessed the teaching materials used previously as a reference in compiling teaching materials that suit their needs. For students, the results are 4.1%, and for lecturers/material experts, it is 3.9%, indicating the need for renewal of teaching materials to improve learning. The implementation design was designed by explaining all the primary learning materials obtained through the description of the RPS (Semester Learning Plan). Each media was given an example of an implementation using Gorontalo folklore. The last is the feasibility assessment given to teaching lecturers/material experts for the BIPA Learning Resources and Media subject, showing an average result of 4.5%. All in all, this study concludes that the teaching material entitled "Design of Implementation of Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers Teaching Materials based on Gorontalo Folklore in the BIPA Learning Resources and Media Course" has gone through the validation process.

Abstract

AbstractThe teaching of Indonesian to speakers of other languages (BIPA) student was very interesting Indonesian cultural values. That is very meaningful to the BIPA students to enrich principle of their life. This research aims to know the exact method used in the study of cultural value so that the BIPA students was expected to be pervading the culture. This research was conducted against the ten BIPA students in the class interest State Polytechnic of Bali year 2017/2018. Questionnaires and observations method is used in data collection. This method was aided by advanced participatory techniques. The data obtained are then analyzed using the equal methods. Based on the results of the BIPA students response to some of the methods tested can be concluded that 96.3% of respondents stated that the cultural value of the immersion method applied in State Polytechnic of Bali is very worthy to support the process of BIPA learning. There are several methods that are appreciated by the students, among others: guessing pictures, running dictation, observation, video documentation, immersion, and debate. Among these methods, the immersion is the most interesting one favored by the BIPA students. They can directly feel and experience the activity in their everyday life.Keywords: immersion, culture, learning, BIPAAbstrakPara pemelajar BIPA sangat tertarik dengan nilai-nilai budaya nusantara. Pemberian nilai budaya ini sangat berarti bagi pemelajar BIPA untuk mengayakan prinsip hidupnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat mengetahui metode yang tepat digunakan dalam pembelajaran nilai budaya sehingga pemelajar BIPA diharapkan dapat meresapi budaya tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap sepuluh mahasiswa pemelajar BIPA di kelas darmasiswa Politeknik Negeri Bali angkatan tahun 2017/2018. Metode kuesioner dan observasi (simak) digunakan dalam pengumpulan data. Metode ini dibantu dengan teknik lanjutan yaitu teknik simak libat cakap dan teknik simak bebas libat cakap. Data yang didapatkan kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode padan. Berdasarkan hasil tanggapan pemelajar BIPA terhadap beberapa metode yang diujicobakan dapat disimpulkan bahwa 96,3 % responden menyatakan bahwa metode pencelupan nilai budaya yang diterapkan di Politeknik Negeri Bali ini sangat layak untuk mendukung proses pembelajaran BIPA. Ada beberapa metode yang diapresiasi oleh pemelajar BIPA, antara lain: tebak gambar, berlari sambil mengimla (running dictation), menyimak (observasi), dokumentasi video, pencelupan langsung (immersion), dan debat. Di antara metode tersebut, metode pencelupan langsung (immersion) paling digemari oleh pemelajar BIPA karena mereka secara langsung dapat merasakan dan mengalami dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.Kata kunci: pencelupan, budaya, pembelajaran, BIPA

Abstract

BIPA (the acronym of Bahasa Indonesia untuk Pelajar Asing) is one of the Indonesian-language learning programs for foreign learners. Understanding entry-level of student competencies are very useful as a starting point for preparing learning according to their learning needs in future lectures. This study aimed to describe how to assess student competence before conducting the lecture to determine their learning needs. This study used a qualitative and quantitative approach conducted in BIPA lectures involving seven lecturers as informants and 159 students as samples. Data were collected through document analysis, interviews, and tests. Qualitative data were used to describe the essential learning materials studied in BIPA lectures. Quantitative data were analyzed using the statistical tool 'Pearson Product Moment to assess entry-level competencies of students before taking courses. The results showed that the entry-level of students were in a low category. The correlation showed that the Grade Point Index (GPI) achieved in the previous lecture did not contribute significantly to student understanding in BIPA lectures because of the different substantial topic of the subjects. The low entry-level test scores reflect the students have not mastered the essential materials for BIPA lectures so they need to study them seriously. These findings can be used as a reference in determining the learning needs of students in the BIPA special program lectures. Therefore, these findings are useful for designing learning and determining policies that can meet the learning needs of students.

Abstract

One of the interesting issues regarding the BIPA learning process is how the similarities and differences of the source and target languages (Indonesian language) are related to students’ understanding of the Indonesian language. This study is related to what is known as a cross-linguistic transfer. This paper reviews theoretically cross-linguistic transfer in learning in BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers). This study employed the descriptive-qualitative method. A qualitative method was used to describe the patterns of similarity between Indonesian language as the target language and the learner’s native language in BIPA learning using a cross-linguistic transfer approach. The result of the study revealed that the discussion about cross-linguistic transfer in the process of learning the Indonesian language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) was not a monolithic matter. The similarities and differences in word forms and word meanings were closely related to how quickly speakers of other languages learned the target language.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has encouraged teachers and students to adapt to online learning synchronously, asynchronously, or via hybrid. The synchronous online learning is widely chosen for foreign language learning, such as BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Learner). BIPA teachers and students can interact as a classical class through synchronous online learning. Therefore, this study aims at finding the role of the teacher in the classroom discourse of online BIPA learning. The observations were conducted in the classroom of online BIPA learning using Google Meet application as a learning media. From the observations, it was found that the roles of teachers and students were not balanced since the teacher had a very dominant role in the classroom discourse. The dominance of the teacher's role can be seen from the teacher's actions in controlling interaction, modifying speech, eliciting, and repair. As a result, the teacher's role affects the interaction patterns, students' opportunities to use the target language, students' understanding, and students' ability to solve problems.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to all forms of digital-based learning. All formal education institutions organize online learning, including BIPA students. This causes the use of technology to increase. BIPA students using technology not only seek academic information about the Indonesian language, but also get to know Indonesian culture. One of the references for measuring the level of digital literacy is the Bawden Conception, which divides it into four aspects, namely basic digital literacy skills, background knowledge of information, digital literacy main competencies, and attitudes and perspectives of information users. The method used is descriptive research that uses a quantitative approach. The form of a movement to encourage productive learning based on digital literacy is that BIPA students can compile an article by including several references.
