Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan bahasa tulis dalam materi perkenalan pada siswa BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing) Adameesuksavitaya asal Thailand menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan studi kasus. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen yang berfokus pada materi perkenalan yang diajarkan kepada siswa selama satu semester. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa kesalahan bahasa tulis yang umum ditemukan dalam materi perkenalan tersebut, termasuk kesalahan tata bahasa, ejaan, dan fonem. Kesalahan-kesalahan ini dapat berdampak negatif pada pemahaman dan penggunaan bahasa Indonesia oleh siswa BIPA. Penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi pada kesalahan bahasa tulis tersebut, seperti pengaruh bahasa ibu siswa dan kurangnya pemahaman tentang struktur bahasa Indonesia. Temuan penelitian ini dapat menjadi landasan bagi pengajar BIPA dalam memperbaiki materi perkenalan dan meningkatkan pemahaman bahasa Indonesia oleh siswa asing, khususnya siswa asal Thailand. Penelitian ini juga memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan metode pengajaran BIPA yang lebih efektif dan relevan.

Abstract

Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) di Thailand menunjukkan perkembangan signifikan. Seiring perkembangan tersebut, evaluasi kompetensi berbahasa pemelajar perlu digalakkan. Terlebih, kompetensi menulis sebagai kompetensi aktif-produktif dinilai paling sulit dipraktikkan. Salah satu upaya evaluasi yang dapat dilakukan adalah analisis kesalahan berbahasa berupa penggunaan prefiks /me-/ sebagai afiks paling produktif dan wajib dikuasai. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kesalahan penggunaan prefiks /me-/ pada tugas menulis pemelajar BIPA Thailand. Penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik dasar pengumpulan data berupa teknik sadap dan teknik lanjutan catat. Analisis data menggunakan pendekatan kesalahan berbahasa menurut Tarigan & Tarigan (2011). Langkah kerja analisis kesalahan berbahasa itu adalah mengumpulkan sampel kesalahan; mengidentifikasi kesalahan; menjelaskan kesalahan; mengklasifikasikan kesalahan; dan mengevaluasi kesalahan. Validitas diuji menggunakan referensial, sedangkan uji reliabilitas menggunakan intra-rater. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan tujuh wujud kesalahan penggunaan prefiks /me-/, yakni (1) penghilangan prefiks /me-/; (2) bunyi yang seharusnya luluh tidak diluluhkan; (3) peluluhan bunyi yang seharusnya tidak luluh; (4) ketidaktepatan peluluhan bunyi konsonan; (5) penggantian morf; (6) penyingkatan morf, serta (7) ketidaktepatan pembentukan bentuk dasar. Kesalahan tersebut dipengaruhi oleh faktor individu maupun di luar individu. Kesalahan penggunaan prefiks /me-/ sebagai bagian kesalahan berbahasa perlu dicegah dan diatasi melalui peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran dan evaluasi kompetensi bahasa kontinu.

Abstract

The use of information and communication technology in learning Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) at Universitas Brawijaya created a trend of popularity in the use of culinary vlog videos by middle-level students. Despite making a positive contribution, the use of this technology often leads to morphosemantic errors in the use of Indonesian. These errors include aspects of word use, sentence structure, and vocabulary selection that do not conform to language norms. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach by observing three culinary vlog videos as samples. The method in collecting data, this research employs observation and note-taking techniques. Subsequently, data analysis is conducted through three stages, namely the first stage involves data reduction to simplify information, the second stage focuses on presenting data for better clarity, and the third stage entails formulating conclusions based on the results of the conducted analysis. The results of the study found that there were 9 morphosemantic error data in the first video with Olivia, 4 morphosemantic error data in the second video with Lestari, and 5 morphosemantic error data in the third video with Dalia. It can be concluded that language errors that arise can affect the understanding and clarity of messages conveyed in daily communication. With a better understanding of language errors, it is expected to contribute to maintaining the quality of good and correct use of Indonesian in various daily communication situations. Abstract

Abstract In accordance with SKL BIPA Permendikbud number 27 of 2017, BIPA students in beginner level are expected to be able to use Indonesian language to self introducing and fulfillment of concrete daily needs with simple way, such as asking direction, order food, shopping in the market, and ect. That abality can be mastered by students with varying fluency on every students. That things is influenced by lack of language structure of the learner and there is interference mother tongue to Indonesian language. Teacher need prepare task activities that support students to achieve expected abilities and help students more fluent Indonesian language. One of task form that can be given is daily journal writing. This research is qualitative descriptive research. Reseacher use participant observation method. Reseacher also documenting students daily journal. Subject in this research is BIPA students in the beginner level in Language Institute of Sanata Dharma University. The purpose of this research is to describe daily journal assignment form and what are the assignment step using daily journal for BIPA learner in the beginner level. Based on the research result, the form of daily journal assignment are two activities, that is outdoor activity and in door activity. Both of activities covers authentic assignment. The assignment can be done with three activities, that is (1) daily journal prewriting activity, (2) daily journal writing process, and (3) post writing daily journal.  Key word: BIPA, beginner level, authentic task, daily journal Abstrak Sesuai dengan SKL BIPA Permendikbud nomor 27 tahun 2017, pemelajar BIPA tingkat pemula diharapkan mampu menggunakan bahasa Indonesia untuk perkenalkan diri dan pemenuhan kebutuhan konkret sehari-hari dengan cara sederhana, seperti bertanya arah, memesan makanan, berbelanja di pasar, dan sebagainya. Kemampuan tersebut dapat dikuasai oleh pemelajar dengan kelancaran yang berbeda-beda pada setiap pemelajar. Hal tersebut dipengaruhi oleh masih minimnya pengetahuan struktur kebahasaan pemelajar dan adanya interferensi bahasa ibu terhadap bahasa Indonesia. Pengajar perlu menyiapkan aktivitas-aktivitas tugas yang mendukung pemelajar untuk mencapai kemampuan yang diharapkan dan membantu pemelajar semakin lancar berbahasa Indonesia. Salah satu bentuk tugas yang dapat diberikan adalah penulisan jurnal harian. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan metode observasi partisipan. Peneliti juga mendokumentasi hasil tulisan jurnal harian pemelajar. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah pemelajar BIPA tingkat pemula di Lembaga Bahasa Universitas Sanata Dharma. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan bentuk penugasan jurnal harian dan bagaimana langkah penugasan dengan jurnal harian bagi pemelajar BIPA tingkat pemula. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, tugas penulisan jurnal harian berbentuk dua aktivitas, yaitu aktivitas di luar kelas dan di dalam kelas. Kedua aktivitas tersebut mencakup tugas-tugas bersifat autentik. Penugasannya dapat dilakukan dengan langkah (1) aktivitas pramenulis jurnal harian (2) proses menulis jurnal harian dan (3) pascamenulis jurnal harian. Kata kunci: BIPA, tingkat pemula, tugas autentik, jurnal harian

Abstract

UNIKOM has become a crucial center for international students learning Indonesian as a Foreign Language (BIPA). The specially designed BIPA program, with experienced instructors, ensures effective learning. UNIKOM’s multicultural environment enriches the educational experience and accelerates cultural adaptation. The program also teaches Indonesian culture, providing essential insights for international students' studies and lives in Indonesia. However, using Indonesian as a second language often leads to language errors, primarily influenced by the students’ dominant mother tongues. This research aims to explore the sociolinguistic phenomena in bilingual learning environments and identify the causes and purposes of these occurrences. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques include observation and conversation, utilizing participant observation, recording, and note-taking. Data were naturally gathered during the BIPA learning process. The findings reveal sociolinguistic phenomena such as code-switching and code-mixing. Researchers identified 21 sociolinguistic instances, divided into two categories: 14 instances of code-mixing 10 involving Indonesian to English and 4 from Indonesian to Arabic and 7 instances of code-switching 5 from Indonesian to English and 2 from Indonesian to Arabic. The study reveals that code-mixing and code-switching in BIPA classes at UNIKOM serve to enhance understanding between students and instructors, facilitating inquiries and explanations for terms unfamiliar in students’ native languages.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of a learning model as an alternative to overcome BIPA expository writing learning problems. The learning model in question is a collaborative model assisted by series image media. The population of this study is all students of grade XI ESG São Pedro, Comoro for the 2024 school year consisting of seven classes and totaling 314 students. The sample of this study is only one class, namely class 11 CT/A which totals 43 students. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The research method used is quantitative with the type of Pre-Experimental research and the design is one group pretest-posttest. The data collection technique used in this study is a test technique, which is using learning test results. The learning test in question is an expository writing skills test before  applying collaborative learning assisted by series image media (pretest) and an expository writing skills test after applying collaborative learning assisted by series image media (posttest). The data in this study uses descriptive and inferential statistical calculations by calculating student learning outcomes, improving student learning outcomes, data normality and hypothesis testing. From the results of data analysis and hypothesis testing using paired sample t tests, it can be concluded that the application of collaborative learning assisted by series image media is effective on expository writing skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemanfaatan objek wisata dalam buku Merajut Keberagaman di Sumatera Utara untuk Pemelajar BIPA Pemula sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia sekaligus pengenalan keberagaman budaya. Fokus utama adalah pada Unit 4 Liburanku, yang mengangkat tema wisata dan wawasan kedaerahan. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif melalui studi pustaka dan analisis isi buku. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif untuk menggambarkan bagaimana objek wisata seperti Tangkahan, Rumah Tjong A Fie, Lompat Batu Nias, Masjid Azizi Langkat, dan Danau Toba dimanfaatkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa dan budaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa objek wisata tersebut efektif digunakan untuk mengembangkan kosakata, struktur kalimat, serta pemahaman budaya yang beragam. Pendekatan ini meningkatkan motivasi dan keterlibatan pemelajar BIPA pemula dengan mengaitkan materi bahasa dengan konteks budaya nyata di Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini mengisi gap dalam pengembangan bahan ajar BIPA yang mengintegrasikan budaya lokal melalui objek wisata. Implikasi penelitian merekomendasikan pengembangan bahan ajar BIPA berbasis potensi lokal dan penggunaan media audiovisual untuk memperkaya pengalaman belajar. Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze the learning needs of advanced learners (KL) in order to design effective and contextual Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) learning conversations. KL learners generally have mastered the basics of language, so learning at this level needs to focus on developing more functional and applicable language skills, especially in the context of everyday and professional communication. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a needs analysis approach through the analysis of advanced BIPA learning materials. The results show that learners need conversation materials that are relevant to their social and work environments, such as interactions in the workplace, public services, and intercultural communication. Based on these findings, a BIPA conversation learning design was prepared based on the context and needs of learners. This design is expected to increase learning effectiveness and provide a meaningful learning experience and in accordance with the real communication goals of advanced BIPA learners. Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the material needs within the Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) curriculum in Timor Leste, specifically from the perspective of learners whose first language is Tetum. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews and document analysis, then examined thematically to explore linguistic needs, sociocultural dimensions, learning strategies, and instructional challenges. The findings reveal that learners struggle with abstract vocabulary, formal sentence structures, and comprehension of academic texts. They also express a strong need for audio materials, structured listening practice, and learning resources that align with their local context. The discussion highlights that culturally contextualized content such as Timorese folklore and traditional practices along with informal peer interaction and exposure to Indonesian media, significantly enhances learner motivation and confidence. However, several challenges persist, including misalignment between instructional materials and learners’ actual needs, limited speaking and listening practice, and a lack of locally relevant educational resources. Therefore, this study recommends the development of a BIPA curriculum that is adaptive, inclusive, and responsive to the sociocultural realities of Tetum-speaking learners in Timor Leste, in order to foster more meaningful and empowering language learning experiences.

Abstract

This research analyzes the "Horse-Human" myth from Uma Lisan Bihahi, Timor-Leste as a potential study for Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) instructional materials through Todorov's structural narrative approach, analyzed with Content-Based Instruction theory and Actor-Network Theory. Employing qualitative methods with an exploratory case study design, this research involved six informants from three different Uma Lisan in Timor-Leste through in-depth interviews and participant observation. Structural analysis revealed 36 narrative functions that form hierarchical transformation patterns from initial famine situations to human-to-horse metamorphosis, creating a food taboo system that functions as a mechanism for social control and cultural identity preservation. The findings demonstrate that this myth possesses a complex narrative structure in which each element can be identified as having potential for BIPA learning content through the exploration of four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) with authentic local cultural content. The belief system and food taboos within the myth function as vehicles for transmitting local wisdom values encompassing respect for nature, family sacrifice, and animal sacredness in traditional Timorese cosmology. The potential utilization of myths as BIPA learning content has the potential to enhance learners' linguistic competence as well as intercultural communicative competence through a deep understanding of Timorese worldviews. This research contributes methodologically through narrative structural analysis that supports the exploration of cultural content as BIPA learning materials based on local wisdom that can be adapted for utilizing other oral traditions, while simultaneously supporting intangible cultural heritage preservation efforts through the exploration of contextual and culturally meaningful language education.Pemanfaatan Kepercayaan dan Tabu Pangan pada Mite “Manusia Kuda” sebagai Konten Belajar BIPA di Timor LestePenelitian ini menganalisis mite "Manusia Kuda" dari Uma Lisan Bihahi, Timor-Leste sebagai kajian potensi bahan ajar Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) melalui pendekatan struktural naratif Todorov yang dianalisis dengan teori Content-Based Instruction dan Actor-Network Theory. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus eksploratif, penelitian ini melibatkan enam informan dari tiga Uma Lisan berbeda di Timor-Leste melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipan. Analisis struktural mengungkapkan 36 fungsi naratif yang membentuk pola transformasi berjenjang dari situasi awal kelaparan hingga metamorfosis manusia menjadi kuda, menciptakan sistem tabu pangan yang berfungsi sebagai mekanisme kontrol sosial dan preservasi identitas budaya. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa mite ini memiliki struktur naratif kompleks yang dapat diidentifikasi pada setiap elemen yang potensial untuk konten pembelajaran BIPA melalui eksplorasi empat keterampilan berbahasa (menyimak, berbicara, membaca, menulis) dengan konten budaya lokal yang autentik. Sistem kepercayaan dan tabu pangan dalam mite berfungsi sebagai wahana transmisi nilai-nilai kearifan lokal yang mencakup penghormatan terhadap alam, pengorbanan keluarga, dan kesakralan hewan dalam kosmologi tradisional Timor-Leste. Potensi pemanfaatan mite sebagai konten pembelajaran BIPA berpotensi meningkatkan kompetensi linguistik pembelajaran tetapi juga kompetensi komunikatif interkultural melalui pemahaman mendalam tentang pandangan dunia masyarakat Timor-Leste. Penelitian ini berkontribusi metodologis berupa analisis struktur naratif yang mendukung eksplorasi konten budaya sebagai bahan pembelajaran BIPA berbasis kearifan lokal yang dapat diadaptasi untuk pemanfaatan tradisi lisan lainnya, sekaligus mendukung upaya pelestarian warisan budaya takbenda melalui eksplorasi pendidikan bahasa yang kontekstual dan bermakna budaya.
