Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) To determine the role of teachers in implementing the mentoring program in the Al-Qur’an Hadith subject at Al-Kahfi Islamic Senior High School (MA) Surakarta, and (2) To determine the role of teachers in shaping students’ discipline character through the mentoring program. This research employs a qualitative correlational approach with research subjects consisting of teachers (mentors) and 30 students of grade 11 at MA Al-Kahfi Surakarta. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted using source triangulation to test data validity. The results of the study show that: (1) The teachers’ roles in implementing the mentoring program include being role models, advisors, mentors, and evaluators, with mentoring activities conducted through the halaqah method; (2) The teachers’ roles in shaping students’ discipline character are reflected in their efforts to set examples of discipline, guide undisciplined students, give corrective feedback for violations, and evaluate students’ level of discipline. Thus, the teachers’ roles in the mentoring program have proven to contribute positively to the formation of students’ discipline character, particularly through exemplary behavior and intensive guidance within the Al-Qur’an Hadith learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the management of the Equality Education Program in Salafiyah Islamic Boarding Schools (PKPPS) at Pondok Pesantren Darul Amin Palangka Raya, focusing on the Wustho level. The study is motivated by the gap between students’ need for formal educational recognition and the dominance of religious learning in salafiyah pesantren. Although previous studies have examined PKPPS, most have focused on program evaluation based on policy compliance, with limited attention to the operational management aspects, particularly planning and implementation at the institutional level. This limitation indicates a significant research gap, especially in the context of pesantren outside Java. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that program management has been implemented through systematic planning involving internal coordination and external collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The implementation combines diniyah (religious) activities and general academic learning based on the 2013 Curriculum. However, an imbalance in time allocation between religious and academic learning was identified, indicating that curriculum integration has not yet been optimal. The novelty of this study lies in its in-depth analysis of PKPPS management at the micro level of pesantren, particularly within the local context of Central Kalimantan.

Abstract

A school culture that is responsive to diversity is one of the key elements in creating a conducive educational environment for all school residents. The diversity in question includes cultural, religious, socio-economic, language, gender, and special needs of teachers and students. However, in reality, there are still a number of schools that are not fully able to accommodate and respond optimally to this diversity, both in policies, learning practices, and social interaction in the school environment. In addition, previous studies have not extensively reviewed the role of inclusive leadership of school principals in building a school culture that is responsive to diversity in a systematic and sustainable manner, so there are still research gaps that need to be studied and answered through further research. This study aims to describe the role of inclusive leadership of school principals in the formation and management of a school culture that is responsive to diversity. This study uses a literature review method by examining a wide range of literature related to inclusive leadership of principals, and a school culture that is responsive to diversity. The results of this study show that inclusive leadership of school principals has an important role in shaping and managing a school culture that is responsive to diversity so that all school residents feel valued, accepted, and have equal opportunities in the educational process.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the level of Assertive Behavior and Self-esteem among students of SMA N 1 Koto XI Tarusan and to investigate the influence between these two variables. This research uses a quantitative approach with a stratified random sampling technique. The research subjects consisted of 286 students from SMA N 1 Koto XI Tarusan. The instruments used were the Assertiveness Formative Questionnaire to measure assertive behavior, developed by Amy Gaumer Erickson and Patricia Noonan (2018), and The State Self-esteem Scale to measure self-esteem, developed by Todd F. Heatherton and Janet Polivy (1991). Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS version 26. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant positive effect of self-esteem on assertive behavior with a value of B = 0.241, F = 60.604, p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), R = 0.419, and R² = 0.176. This means that self-esteem contributes 17.6% to the variation in assertive behavior among students of SMA N 1 Koto XI Tarusan. The higher the level of self-esteem, the higher the assertive behavior exhibited by students.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Identification the implementation of integrated Islamic Pancasila Education learning in strengthening the leadership character of class VII students at SMPIT Insan Mulia Surakarta, (2) Describe the obstacles in implementing integrated Islamic Pancasila Education learning in strengthening the leadership character of class VII students at SMPIT Insan Mulia Surakarta. Research informants include the principal, class VII Pancasila Education teachers, and class VII students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, with validity tests using triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. Data analysis was carried out interactively through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that (1) Integrated Islamic Pancasila Education learning in class VII was implemented using interactive methods such as Team Games Tournament (TGT) and group debates as well as integrating Islamic values through linking material with verses of the Qur'an, so that it was able to gradually grow students' leadership character through instilling the values of responsibility, trustworthiness, and exemplary behavior. (2) The obstacle lies in the differences in student character, especially students with introverted personalities who tend to be passive and less courageous in expressing their opinions, so that strengthening of leadership character has not developed evenly even though learning has been carried out well.

Abstract

Arabic language learning in Islamic elementary schools often faces challenges due to students’ low learning interest, caused by monotonous conventional methods and limited learning media. This study aims to describe the implementation of the singing method (thariqah al-ghina'iyyah) in Arabic learning for Grade 5A at MI Nurul Yaqin Sungai Duren and to analyze how this method stimulates students’ learning interest. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving 24 students, one Arabic teacher, and the school principal. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the singing method was implemented in three stages: preparation, implementation, and follow-up, applying principles of contextualization, differentiation, and interactivity. The method functions as a multimodal stimulus that lowers the affective filter, strengthens vocabulary memory through dual coding, and fulfills students’ psychological needs for competence, relatedness, and autonomy. The results show a significant increase in learning interest, reflected in students’ enthusiasm, active participation, and attentiveness.

Abstract

Developing emotional self-regulation skills in elementary school students is a crucial aspect in shaping their character, discipline, and social skills. However, in practice, students still experience difficulties in controlling their emotions, such as irritability, difficulty controlling themselves, and a lack of ability to respond appropriately to situations. This situation demonstrates the importance of teachers' roles and strategies in guiding students' emotional development. This study aims to analyze teachers' strategies in developing students' emotional self-regulation at Nurul Ittihad Elementary Madrasah in Jambi City. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects consisted of fourth-grade teachers, students, and the madrasah principal. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques that include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions by ensuring data validity through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study indicate that teachers' strategies in developing students' emotional self-regulation are implemented through several main approaches, namely teacher role models in controlling emotions, habituating positive behavior in learning activities, providing motivation and positive reinforcement, and integrating religious values into madrasah activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of anti-corruption education into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMP 4 Malangke, Luwu Regency, and explore the role of teachers as motivators and evaluators in building student character. This research is motivated by the widespread integrity crisis and the tendency for PAI learning to remain textual-ritualistic, so that serious efforts are needed to internalize the values of honesty (shiddiq) and trustworthiness into the school curriculum. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that PAI teachers at SMP 4 Malangke have made integration efforts through careful planning using the value infusion method into the Lesson Implementation Plan (RPP) and linking religious material with the local wisdom of the Luwu community. As motivators, teachers have succeeded in raising students' intrinsic awareness through an exemplary approach (uswatun hasanah) and positive reinforcement. As evaluators, teachers apply authentic assessments based on behavioral observations to measure students' integrity in real terms. However, this study also identified several inhibiting factors, including the heavy administrative burden of assessments, biased student behavior at school, and the influence of an external environment that does not support integrity values.

Abstract

The principal plays a central role in improving teacher performance through motivation, guidance, and the creation of a conducive work environment. However, several issues arise, such as inconsistent use of E-Performance technology and differences in teacher readiness to improve their professionalism, which remain obstacles. This study aims to describe the experiences of the principal as a motivator at SMP Negeri 24 Jambi City in improving teacher performance, teacher performance at SMP Negeri 24 Jambi City, and supporting and inhibiting factors from a managerial and organizational perspective. The method used in this study is qualitative phenomenology by collecting data from in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students, which were then confirmed by data triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the principal plays a role as a motivator through providing psychological motivation, being a role model for the principal, implementing academic supervision, and implementing teacher professional development activities. These roles have an impact on improving teacher performance in systematically planning and preparing learning materials, although the use of learning outcome evaluation has not been carried out consistently.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of moral decadence and the challenges of globalization that demand strengthening of students' character through religious education. The purpose of this research is to analyze the strategy and effectiveness of the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teachers in integrating religious culture as an instrument for developing students' morals. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through participant observation, documentation studies, and in-depth interviews with 22 informants consisting of school principals, teachers, students, parents, and alumni. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions according to the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The strategy of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teachers is carried out through the creation of a religious school ecosystem (school culture) as a hidden curriculum through tadarus activities, congregational prayers, and Al-Qur'an literacy; (2) The effectiveness of moral development is highly dependent on the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teachers as uswah hasanah (life role models) and humanistic personal mentors; (3) Internalization of values occurs through a habituation process that transforms verbalistic religious understanding into real actions; (4) Synergy between schools and parents, as well as the use of information technology, is a strategic solution to overcome the obstacle of value contamination from social media.
