Abstract

Educational transformation through the Independent Curriculum requires adaptive, competency-based learning approaches that strengthen 21st-century skills, particularly critical thinking. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a strategic role in embedding spiritual, ethical, and social values into students' intellectual development. This study aims to determine the effect of the Independent Curriculum implementation on students’ critical thinking skills in PAI at SMA Negeri 1 Polokarto during the 2024/2025 academic year. Employing a quantitative correlational approach, data were collected via questionnaires and documentation and analyzed using simple linear regression. The findings indicate that both the level of curriculum implementation and students’ critical thinking abilities fall into the high category. A statistically significant effect was found, with the curriculum accounting for 38.1% of the variance in critical thinking skills. These results confirm that the Independent Curriculum serves as a strategic instrument in fostering higher-order thinking within PAI instruction. However, its effectiveness largely depends on teacher readiness, the quality of assessments, and institutional policy support. This study recommends strengthening teacher training and developing more contextual and reflective learning tools.

Abstract

School climate plays a crucial role in determining educational effectiveness. School climate encompasses interactions between teachers, students, and management, as well as a work environment that supports learning. The Constitutional Court Ruling No: 3/PUU-XXIII/2025 mandates the government to ensure free compulsory education for all primary education institutions, including private schools, presenting both challenges and opportunities for accreditation and school climate. This study aims to understand private school teachers’ perceptions of accreditation and school climate dynamics following the ruling. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and non-participant observations from 20 teachers in five private primary schools in East Java. Thematic analysis revealed that 70% of teachers view accreditation as a tool for quality improvement, while 25% feel burdened by administrative demands. School climate showed increased teacher collaboration (80%), but tensions with management arose due to funding uncertainties. Parental expectations for educational quality also rose. The ruling offers opportunities for government support, but funding and administrative challenges must be addressed. The study recommends clear funding guidelines and teacher training to support private schools.

Abstract

In the increasingly competitive world of Islamic boarding school education, understanding how marketing and service quality influence the choices of prospective students is crucial for formulating effective strategies. Therefore, this research was conducted to delve into these two factors and offer recommendations to help the boarding school maximize its strategies. Using a quantitative approach through a survey, data was collected from 50 respondents, including prospective students and their parents. A 5-point Likert scale questionnaire was used to measure marketing strategies, service quality, and prospective students’ decisions. Multiple linear regression analysis was then applied to test the relationship between variables. The findings of the study indicate that marketing strategies (X₁) and service quality (X₂) significantly influence prospective students’ decisions (Y). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.643 confirms that 64.3% of the variation in prospective students’ decisions can be explained by the contribution of these two variables. This study concludes that effective marketing strategies and good service quality significantly influence prospective students’ decisions in choosing the Daarul Qur’an Lampung Tahfizh Boarding School. Therefore, the boarding school needs to continue strengthening its digital marketing strategies and improving its service quality to compete in the increasingly competitive boarding school education market.

Abstract

This study aims to explore an integrative conceptual model between home and school education based on local values to improve student achievement. The research focuses on identifying and designing an integration model that not only connects the roles of families and schools but also accommodates the local values embedded in Indonesian society. This study employs an exploratory qualitative method, as it seeks to deeply investigate the concept of integration from various scientific literatures and to identify an appropriate conceptual model. Data collection techniques were carried out through library research by reviewing open-access scientific journals from the past ten years, books, research reports, and educational policy documents, followed by content analysis of literature relevant to the integration of family-school education and Indonesian local values. The findings highlight five main pillars in the collaborative integration model: shared goals, value alignment, functional programs, joint supervision, and joint assessment. This model offers novelty by emphasizing the role of local values as a binding element between families and schools, as well as a reinforcement of students' cultural identity. The study provides theoretical contributions to the development of educational policies and serves as a foundation for future empirical research to examine the effectiveness of implementing the model in various Indonesian school contexts.

Abstract

Strengthening Islamic character education through Pancasila values is a strategic priority in Islamic higher education (PTKIS), particularly at the As-Syifa Subang College of Al-Qur'anic Studies (STIQ). This study aims to examine three main aspects. First, the forms of character strengthening through Pancasila values manifested in curriculum integration, instilling values through campus activities such as community service, social service, and volunteer work, and the exemplary behavior of faculty members and leadership. Second, the factors influencing character development, including internal factors such as institutional vision, integrated curriculum, and educator capacity, as well as external factors such as national policies, social dynamics, and globalization trends. Third, the implications of character strengthening, both positive, such as increased religiosity, nationalism, and social tolerance, and negative, such as psychological pressure and the potential for exclusivism. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving 50 students as the main informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and documentary studies, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model.

Abstract

This study aims to outline effective principal strategies in shaping students’ character as a response to the challenges posed by rapid social changes and the digital era in character education. The research employs a literature review method, analyzing various credible sources including books, national and international journal articles, and recent educational regulations. The findings reveal that student character development heavily depends on the integration of strengthening a religious and conducive school culture and environment, management and leadership by principals that is participative and structured, as well as the influence of both external and internal factors such as technology, parental involvement, and peer interactions. Principal strategies should encompass integrated character habituation programs, maintaining collaborative communication with all stakeholders, and managing adaptive and contextual character-based curricula. The novelty of this study lies in the comprehensive synthesis of principal strategies that combine cultural, leadership, and socio-technological dynamics, emphasizing the principal’s role as a change agent who facilitates holistic synergy in character education within schools. This study provides practical recommendations for stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of character education amid a globally dynamic environment.
