Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical creativity of college students with extrovert-introvert personality types based on creativity indikators in solving geometry problems. The research approach and design uses a quantitative approach with cross sectional design. The research subject were 67 college students of state University of Malang in Mathematics Department semester 2, 4, and 6. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and tests. The results showed that: (1) the college students ability of extroverted personality type to produce diverse solutions (fluency) and generate diverse ideas (flexibility) increased in semester 2, 4, and 6. Meanwhile, all college students in semester 2, 4, and 6 not produce new solutions or ideas (novelty). (2) the college students ability of introverted personality type to produce diverse solutions (fluency) decreases in semester 6. The college students ability to generate diverse ideas (flexibility) increases in semester 2, 4, and 6. Meanwhile, the college students ability to produce new solutions or ideas (novelty) increases in semester 6.

Abstract

This study aims to describe mathematical identity of dyscalculia student’s. The research method used descriptive qualitative with study case strategy. The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 18 Kota Malang. The subject of this study was a dyscalculia student who was 13 years old. Dyscalculia students were chosen as research subjects because these students were more open than other dyscalculia students. The results of the analysis are (1) mathematical identity regarding self-perception of mathematical competence that not all students who experience dyscalculia have a negative perception of mathematical competence because student worksheets can still state that they enjoy, like and do not feel bored when learning mathematics in special inclusive classes (2) mathematical identity regarding self-perception of mathematical participation are not yet independent in doing math assignments, teachers or parents always helping when studying, lack of motivation from friends, always re-recording material, and dare to ask others so they don't make mistakes and (3) Mathematical identity regarding self-perception of commitment and ambition to succeed in mathematics, are not afraid of failure, less persistent in completing exams, difficult to take the initiative to find new things, not afraid to ask questions and ask for help and less work hard in exams.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' verbal representation skills through mathematical journal writing activities. So that researchers can find out students' verbal representation skills through writing math journals. The topic that must be written in math journals is fractional material. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were grade 5 elementary school students. Data was collected by giving writing assignments on journal writing sheets and interviews. The results showed that the students' verbal representation ability through journal writing on the fraction concept indicator was still not correct. The language used to organize the presentation of ideas is still not systematic and logical. Students do not yet have verbal representation skills in making appropriate fractional expressions/pictures.

Abstract

The problem that arises in learning the material for sequences and series in class XI Accounting at An-Nuuru Tirtoyudo Islamic Vocational School is the low problem-solving ability. These indications are seen, among others, the lack of basic knowledge of students about mathematics, counting errors, errors in applying strategies, inability to translate problems in mathematical form, misinterpreting problems in mathematical concepts, and lack of understanding of problems that arise. The application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is an alternative that can be done by teachers to improve mathematical problem solving abilities. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) on the Implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) Models to Improve Problem Solving Ability of Class XI Accounting Students at SMK Islam An-Nuuru Tirtoyudo. The results showed that the application of the PBL model could improve mathematical problem solving abilities. The stage of orienting students to problems, among others, students can relate the problem to the knowledge they have, can determine the things that are known, and can determine the things that are asked. The stage of coordinating students to learn through the formation of study groups. The stage of guiding the investigation is done by going around each group to provide facilities to students who have difficulty. The stage of developing and presenting the work is done by asking students to present their work in the form of reports, photos, videos, and others. The stage of analyzing and evaluating problem solving is done by asking students to re-examine the process and problem solving results obtained.

Abstract

Geometry is one of the most important branches of mathematics. At the junior high school level there are several geometry materials taught, including triangles and quadrilaterals. However, in the field, it was found that many students still made mistakes in solving geometry problems. Errors are deviations from the correct solution of a problem, both conceptually and in the procedure for solving it. Errors in solving geometry problems can be used as a reference to find out what difficulties are made by students. One of the efforts in helping students who have difficulty in solving geometry problems is by analyzing the results of students' completion of the problems given. The purpose of this study was to determine the types and causes of student errors in solving geometry problems. This study used a qualitative approach by using a test question instrument. The subjects of this study were 3 of 33 students of class VII A MTs Surya Buana Malang. From the results of the analysis of student answers and interviews conducted, it was obtained data that the types of errors made by students included: conceptual errors, procedural errors and errors in understanding the questions. Conceptual errors made by students include: error types of triangles, properties of quadrilaterals, definitions of quadrilaterals, concepts of operations on numbers, and concepts of perimeter and area of triangles and quadrilaterals. Procedural errors made by students are errors in giving units of circumference or area and calculation errors. And errors in understanding the problem. While the causes of these errors include students who are less able to distinguish between angles and line segments, are less able to distinguish types of triangles based on angles and based on sides, do not understand the concept of operations on numbers, are less precise, do not understand the difference in area and the number of angles in triangles, lack of variety of questions. given by the teacher and do not understand the perimeter and area of a quadrilateral.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskripsi dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui aspek resiliensi matematis yang muncul dalam setiap tahapan Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBL). Penelitian dilakukan pada mahasiswa calon guru matematika Universitas PGRI Banyuwangi yang mengalami pembelajaran PBL. Hasil penelitian diperoleh dari 5 langkah PBL yaitu Orientasi pada masalah , Mengorganisasi untuk belajar , Membimbing penyelidikan individual maupun kelompok , Mengembangkan dan menyajikan hasil , dan Menganalisa dan mengevaluasi proses pemecahan masalah. Terdapat 6 aspek resiliensi yaitu tekun, adaptif, kreatif, motivasi diri, rasa ingin tahu, dan kontrol diri. Kesimpulan dari penelitian bahwa :(1) Langkah Orientasi pada masalah terdapat aspek motivasi; (2) Langkah mengorganisasi untuk belajar tedapat aspek kontrol diri dan adaptif; (3) Langkah membimbing penyelidikan individu maupun kelompok terdapat asek adaptif, tekun, kontrol diri, rasa ingn tahu, motivasi diri, dan kreatif; (4) Langkah mengembangkan dan menyajikan hasil terdapat aspek kontrol diri, rasa ingin tahu, motivasi diri, dan adaptif; (5) Langkah menganalisa dan mengevaluasi proses pemecahan masalah terdapat aspek tekun, adaptif, rasa ingin tahu, motivasi diri, dan kontrol diri.

Abstract

This research purpose is to improve the quality of learning through the learning model of flipping the classroom on the subject of mathematics. This research is an export research by applying lesson study which consists of three intentions, namely planning , Do, and See. The subjects of this study were students of the Mathematics Education Study Program who took the Kapita Selekta Mathematics course. Research data collection instruments consisted of observation sheets, tests, and questionnaires. During the lecture process, observations were made of student activities both online and offline (face to face). To see the cognitive abilities given by test students and to see students' responses to the planning and implementation of a questionnaire The quality of learning is seen to increase from the online and offline activities of students and lecturer activities in class that encourage the activeness of the average value and classical absorption, which experiences improvement. Likewise, most of the students' responses were positive to the planning and implementation of learning taking place with the student learning model turned centered on class.

Abstract

Representation is one of the objectives of learning mathematics, but the representation ability is still low. Thus, the purpose of this study was to develop a contextual-based Student Worksheet on similarity and congruence material to facilitate students' mathematical representation skills. This research was Research and Development. The research used the PPE development model developed by Richey and Klein with three stages of development: planning, production, and evaluation. The results showed that the contextual-based student worksheet on similarity and congruence material to facilitate students' mathematical representation skills was declared valid based on the expert validator's assessment with an average validity value of 0.81 and included in the high criteria.

Abstract

Penalaran analogis merupakan kemampuan seseorang dalam memetakan relasi pengetahuan saat ini dengan pengetahuan sebelumnya yang telah dipelajari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penalaran analogis siswa laki-laki maskulin dan siswa perempuan feminin dalam memecahkan masalah geometri. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Hasil penilitian menunjukkan bahwa penalaran analogis siswa dengan gender laki-laki maskulin lebih baik daripada siswa dengan gender perempuan feminin. Siswa bergender laki-laki maskulin mampu menggunakan tahapan penalaran analogis dengan baik. Sedangkan siswa bergender perempuan feminin sedikit mengalami hambatan pada tahap mapping sehingga pada tahap applying subjek tidak mampu mendeskripsikan kesamaan atau analogi yang terkandung.

Abstract

Nowadays, digital technologies development potentially have changed on teaching and learning activities and demands teachers’ competencies and literacy. In this study, narrative review is used to identify the types of Techno-mathematical Literacy (TmL) that the teachers need to acquire in this digital age. There are seven categories of TmL studied, namely: data literacy, ability to use computer software, communication skills, ability to analyze errors, ability to interpret numbers, creativity, and drawing skills. The results show that the seven categories are crucial for teachers to execute their role in this highly demanding era. These results also indicate that techno-mathematical literacy needs to be applied in the field of teacher education to adequately equip the students with the skills required in the workplace. The result also suggested that teachers need to be encouraged to develop their instructional design in the attempt to enhance students’ techno-mathematical literacy.
