Abstract

Informal industry plays an important role in the national economy, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. Due to its informal nature, the economic activity of informal industries invites many crucial problems. However, what is interesting is why this informal industry activity still exists, even its number is very mushrooming in Indonesia. This research is located in Ciparay, Ibun, and Majalaya Districts, which are the three districts with the largest number of informal industries in Bandung Regency. This study aims to analyze the history of the growth and development of informal agriculture-based industries in Bandung Regency. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews with 50 informal agricultural-based industry actors. Thematic analysis with N-vivo software version 12 was used to analyze the data obtained. This study reveals that the growth and development of informal agriculture-based industries in Bandung Regency is more based on hereditary factors (continuing family businesses) supported by the strength of capital in building businesses. Informal industry entrepreneurs come from the traditional elite, building businesses independently, without government intervention.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the company's inability to meet modern retail market demand of 21%. This research was conducted to analyze demand data patterns for leaf vegetables, predict future market demand, and develop production planning strategies to obtain optimal profits. The research analysis methods used are moving average, single exponential smoothing, ARIMA. The selection of the appropriate forecasting method is determined based on the smallest error value produced. Production planning to determine the right production strategy. Based on the research results, it is clear that the resulting request data pattern is a random pattern. The chosen forecasting method is Single exponential smoothing for romain and ARMA for coriander, curly lettuce, horenzo. The results of the research show that forecasting demand for leaf vegetables for the next six months obtained a constant level of demand forecasting for romain and varied with a decreasing trend for coriander, curly lettuce, and horenzo. Production planning strategies to increase profits in this research can be fulfilled with two alternatives, namely achieving land area using the economy of scale principle and increasing supply from partners with a comparison of the benefits of increasing land area with a more optimal economy of scale principle, namely 300% for romain, 450% for coriander, 237% for curly lettuce, and 185% for horenzo rather than increasing supply from partners. The advantage of this research is discussing four types of commodities while comparing three quantitative analysis methods. The contribution to the company from this research is being able to analyze up to the comparison stage the profits that will be received by the company. This research provides a solution so that companies can prepare production in an effective and efficient manner and achieve optimal profits.

Abstract

International trade is a simple transaction that involves buying and selling goods between entrepreneurs from different countries, currencies, times, and cultures. International trade carries greater risks than domestic trade, but it is an essential part of the global economy. Free on Board (FOB) shipping is the most common method for managing export risks. FOB can be understood as an agreement established in a contract for cross-border trade using waterways and inland routes. The objectives of this research are: 1) describing the fluctuation of export transactions with FOB based on major ports; 2) analyzing the export risk level with FOB based on provincial major ports; 3) describing the fluctuation of Indonesia's export transactions with FOB based on destination countries; 4) analyzing Indonesia's export risk level with FOB based on destination countries. This research utilizes a quantitative design with a literature study approach. The secondary data used is a time series from 2016–2022. Export risk is measured by the coefficient of variation (CV). Fluctuations in export transactions based on FOB from main ports tend to increase. Exports from 25 ports with a CV value below 050 indicate low export risk. Meanwhile, 28 ports with a CV value above 05 indicate high export risk. The value of ASEAN exports has increased, although there was a decrease in 2019 and 2020. Export values remain relatively stable in the United States, European Union, Africa, and Australia. An overall analysis of destination countries shows that CV values below 050 indicate low export risk.
