Abstract

Feed costs present a challenge in the process of raising broiler chickens in closed house systems, as feed expenses account for 70% of the total production costs. Therefore, strategies need to be developed to minimize feed costs while maintaining chicken performance. One of the strategies that can be applied is restricted feeding. In this study, the effect of feed restriction on final weight, FCR, and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) was analyzed. The study was conducted by observing and recording data from broiler farming with ad libitum feeding and restricted feeding treatments, each over 14 periods. The observed parameters were final weight, FCR, and IOFC, and the data were processed using T-tests in SPSS. The results showed that feed restriction treatment did not have a significant effect on final weight, FCR, or Income Over Feed Cost. However, when viewed from the data averages, feed restriction treatment resulted in lower body weight, lower FCR, and higher IOFC.

Abstract

One of the problems that often occurs at the research site is the Ganoderma fungus which attacks plasma farmers' oil palm trees. The symptoms include the leaves starting to turn yellow, the color of the leaves being pale and dull, growth slowing down, spots on the leaves, and the tree slowly falling due to the Ganoderma attack. The aim of the research is to find out how much the cost of controlling ganoderma on oil palm plants in the research area is and to analyze whether there is a difference in the average cost of controlling oil palm ganoderma before and after control. In this research the author chose a quantitative type of research. The data collection method used in this research was carried out by direct observation and interviews in the field using questionnaires as research instruments.. The number of samples used in this research was 30 farmers. The results of the study showed that the income of plasma farmers when ganoderma was not yet controlled was Rp1,853,000, and when ganoderma was controlled it was Rp2,197,900 which was obtained every time ganoderma was controlled, namely once every 6 months with a profit range of Rp. 344,900 for 1 hectare of land.

Abstract

The trend of coffee shops in Bandung as a place to socialize and work is increasing with many new cafes appearing and a large amount of coffee consumption. This study aims to analyze the internal and external environmental conditions of L'amore Coffee. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the IFE (Internal Factor Evaluation) matrix, and EFE (External Factor Evaluation). The results of the IFE analysis show that L'amore Coffee has two main strengths such as its strategic location for commercial activities and the organization of various collaborative events. Meanwhile, L'amore Coffee's two weaknesses are L'amore Coffee's lack of information disseminated through various media and stakeholders and there are wobbly or less sturdy chairs and tables. The results of the EFE matrix analysis show that there are two main opportunities that can be utilized, including the lifestyle and culture of people who never stop consuming coffee and the trend of coffee shops always increasing as a place to culinary, work, and gather. Meanwhile, the two biggest threats that can occur at L'amore Coffee are if the conduciveness of L'amore Coffee cannot be controlled so that it can disturb local residents and coffee shop competitors that are increasingly emerging.

Abstract

The development of the palm oil industry has had a significant impact on the regional economy, particularly in West Kalimantan. Palm oil industry has become one of the pillars of the economy in West Kalimantan because it has the potential to support land. This investment plays an important role in economic growth, because it can increase the growth rate and income of farmers, especially in Jelimpo District. However, investment activities are inseparable from risks that can cause losses. Seeing investment activities that are inseparable from risks, making decisions before starting an investment is very necessary. The purpose of the study, was to analyze the risk perception and tolerance of farmers towards palm oil investment decisions in Jelimpo District, Landak Regency. The method used in this study is quantitative descrptive. This study was conducted in Angan Tembawang Village and Kayu Ara Village, Jelimpo District, Landak Regency, with 86 sample respondents representing palm oil farmers. The variables in this study were divded into 3 (three), namely risk perception, tolerance and investment decisions. The two-tailed risk perception and tolerance attitude scores for the Spearman rank test were 0.000 and 0.005, respectively, due to the significance level (Sig).(2-tailed) 0.05 indicates that farmers' attitudes toward risk and their level of tolerance influence their choices about palm oil investments. While the correlation coefficient value of risk perception of 0.382 and farmer tolerance attitude of 0.302 means that the level of relationship between variables has a sufficint relationship. The results of the study showed that farmer perception of risk is in the high category, meaning that farmers consider palm oil investment as a farming activity that is full of threats and potential losses. While the farmer tolerance attitude towards risk is in the medium category or has a risk neutral attitude, meaning that farmers have a neutral attitude towards risk and tend to consider potential risks and benefits in a balanced manner when making investment decisions.

Abstract

Permaculture is an agricultural design approach that integrates social, economic, and environmental considerations. To develop sustainable agricultural practices like permaculture, specialized training is necessary due to its distinct differences from conventional farming methods. Kebun Hanif is one of the locations that applies permaculture design concepts and conducts related training programs. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Permaculture Design Course (PDC) at Kebun Hanif and assess the program’s overall effectiveness. The research employs both qualitative and quantitative approaches, using the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) evaluation model. Data collection methods include distributing questionnaires, conducting in-depth interviews, and reviewing documents. The results indicate that the PDC at Kebun Hanif, an intensive program that began in early 2022, teaches permaculture principles through an approach based on Islamic values. The evaluation, using the CIPP model, yielded positive outcomes across all aspects: context, input, process, and product. The context evaluation showed an 83% satisfaction rate, demonstrating the program's relevance to local needs. The input evaluation scored 84%, highlighting sufficient resource allocation and planning. The process evaluation scored 80%, indicating that the program was implemented as planned, though there is room for improvement. The product evaluation revealed an 80% success rate, reflecting the program’s effectiveness in achieving its goals and in the application of permaculture concepts by participants.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Farmer Card program and its impact on the work motivation and welfare of rice farmers in Cilamaya Kulon District, Karawang Regency. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study, and data were obtained through in-depth interviews with four informants. The results showed that most informants considered the Farmer Card program ineffective. They complained about the difficulty of obtaining subsidized fertilizer, uneven distribution, and the existence of non-farmers who misused the Farmer Card to get fertilizer and then sell it at a high price. In addition, the existence of the Farmer Card reduced farmers' work motivation due to limited access to subsidized fertilizer. This program also did not have a significant impact on farmers' welfare; high fertilizer prices due to the inaccurate distribution process became an additional burden. The informants suggested improvements to the distribution system and program implementation so that it could truly improve farmers' welfare or proposed that this program be stopped if improvements were not possible. The results showed that farmers preferred the old system which was considered more flexible in meeting fertilizer needs.
