Abstract

Semi organic rice is the product of rice farming that adopts environmentally friendly farming principles by replacing chemical pesticides with organic pesticides and gradually reducing the use of chemical fertilizers toward an organic farming system. However, the marketing of semi organic rice still faces challenges due to its relatively higher price and limited market segmentation. This study aims to analyze the marketing efficiency of semi organic rice in Seputih Raman District, Central Lampung Regency. The research location was determined purposively, considering the presence of the farmer group association (PP) Gapsera Sejahtera Mandiri, which has implemented a semi organic rice agribusiness system. Farmer and rice mill respondents were selected using purposive sampling, while trader respondents were selected using the snowball sampling method. Data analysis was conducted using the Structure, Conduct, and Performance (SCP) approach. The results revealed two marketing channels for semi organic rice: (I) farmer–rice mill–consumer and (II) farmer–rice mill–retailer–consumer. These channels operate within a market structure characterized by imperfect competition, including monopsony, monopoly, and oligopoly. Rice mills play a dominant role as price setters, while farmers act as price takers. The first marketing channel was found to be the most efficient, as indicated by a lower marketing margin, a farmer’s share of 42.41%, and a benefit cost ratio of 1.48.

Abstract

The Government Purchasing Price (HPP) is a key policy instrument for stabilizing food prices in Indonesia, particularly aimed at ensuring farm-level income by regulating the price of Dry Harvested Unhusked Rice (GKP). However, its effectiveness in influencing GKP prices remains underexplored across different administrations and over time. This study applies a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis based on monthly data from January 2008 to November 2024. The models compare two presidential periods: President SBY (2008–2014) and President Jokowi (2014–2024). Independent variables include time (in months), HPP, and the input price index paid by farmers. The regression results show that during the SBY administration, HPP had no significant effect on GKP prices, although GKP prices consistently increased over time. In contrast, during Jokowi’s administration, HPP significantly and positively affected GKP prices, yet time trends indicated a declining price pattern. Moreover, increases in input costs strongly influenced the rise in GKP, suggesting that price gains did not necessarily translate to improved farmer welfare. Under SBY, HPP served more as a price floor in a relatively stable market. Under Jokowi, although more active, the HPP was overshadowed by escalating production costs. Therefore, HPP’s effectiveness in enhancing farmer welfare depends on its integration with input cost policies, infrastructure support, and adaptive market interventions.

Abstract

Force Field Analysis (FFA) has been widely used by organization development practitioners to plan and implement organizational changes. The research was conducted with the aim of formulating a development strategy for Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa). The research location was determined purposively, namely in BUM Desa Pasirian Raharjo according to the recommendation of the Lumajang Regency Government. BUM Desa Pasirian Raharjo is located in Pasirian Village, Pasirian District, Lumajang Regency, East Java Province. Business units managed by BUM Desa Pasirian Raharjo are waste processing, savings and loan units, MSMEs, and the tourism sector. Data were analyzed using the FFA approach by considering the driving factors for the development of BUM Desa and the factors inhibiting the development of BUM Desa. The results showed that the key driving factor was that BUM Desa had formal legality (Village Regulations and AD/ART), while the key inhibiting factor was weak support from the RT and RW levels. The research conclusion is in the form of recommendations for the development strategy of BUM Desa by strengthening synergy with community organizations at both the RT and RW levels, so that the problem of waste management does not only have an impact on social aspects.

Abstract

One of the factors that drive the level of consumption of tomato vegetables is the needs, desires and perceptions of consumers. Purchasing decisions on a product can be influenced by a person's perception or attitude. Product attributes or product characteristics are an important thing to consider in analyzing a person's perception. The focus of this study is to determine consumer perceptions of vegetable tomato attributes. The number of samples taken in this study amounted to 100 respondents of the final consumers of the Caringin Main Market, Bandung City. This study uses descriptive analysis and mean score (spider web) to measure and determine consumer perceptions of vegetable tomato attributes. Based on the findings of this study, consumer perceptions of the attributes of color, size, taste, shape and freshness of respondents stated that there are three attributes that are most preferred and considered important in purchasing vegetable tomatoes, namely the attributes of color, size and freshness. While respondents consider the attributes of taste and shape as neutral attributes, meaning that these attributes are not the main factors considered by consumers in purchasing vegetable tomatoes.

Abstract

Chicken Gendut Farm is a farm that focuses on breeding broiler chickens. During the production period, this farm had the most significant problems, such as disease attacks, poor-quality Day-Old Chicken (DOC), and extreme weather that could cause death in chickens. This study aims to 1) Identify sources of production risk at Chicken Gendut Farm, 2) Analyse the level of production risk opportunities, risk impacts, and risk maps, and 3) Formulate appropriate risk handling strategies for Chicken Gendut Farm. The data analysis methods used were Fishbone analysis, Z-Score, and Value at Risk (VaR). The results showed that Chicken Gendut Farm identified sources of production risk caused by internal and external business factors. Risk mapping shows four risks in quadrant I: poor air or temperature in the cage, disease attack, extremely hot weather, and poor DOC quality. Risk management strategies that Chicken Gendut Farm can carry out are preventive strategies, such as increasing worker discipline in cage management, separating sick chickens, maintaining cage cleanliness, limiting access in and out of the cage, and spraying disinfectant spray for people who enter the cage.

Abstract

E-commerce in Indonesia has grown rapidly with the following increased use of the internet, which has also influenced the rise of online agricultural product transactions. This growth is driven by several benefits, such as saving on transportation costs, labour, and time. However, it is unfortunate that the consumption of vegetables and fruits in Indonesia remains relatively low. As a part of the Indonesian society, university students in Indonesia also exhibit low consumption levels of vegetables and fruits, which is influenced by the changes in their consumption behaviour since the start of college. Therefore, this study aims to investigate whether there is a relationship between consumer behaviour and online purchasing decisions for vegetables and fruits among university students. The respondents in this study were 100 undergraduate and diploma students from the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Padjadjaran. The analytical methods used in this research included descriptive statistics, inferential statistics using the chi-square test, and cross-tabulation analysis. The results of the study indicate that cultural factor, social factor, and personality factor are related to consumer purchase decisions. Cultural and personality factors were found to have a significant impact on students' decisions to purchase vegetables and fruits online. While social factors, although not significant, also influence consumers' decisions to purchase vegetables and fruits via online.

Abstract

Chicken meat is rich in protein and moisture, making it susceptible to rapid spoilage when exposed to harmful microorganisms. Therefore, it is essential to maintain high standards of hygiene and service during sales and slaughter processes. This study aims to explore the relationship between the characteristics of broiler chicken traders—such as age, education, business experience, sales volume, and income—and the level of service provided in selling chickens that meet hygienic standards. The research was conducted in September 2024 at Ciroyom Market, located in the Andir District of Bandung City, West Java. Respondents were chosen randomly, resulting in a sample size of 31 individuals. The Spearman Rank correlation test was employed to assess the relationship between the two variables. Findings indicate that most broiler chicken traders fall within the early adulthood age range (15–40 years), possess a medium level of education (junior high to senior high school), have significant business experience (over 10 years), and report a medium sales volume (2,708.40 – 18,736.76 kg/month) along with a medium income (Rp. 4,887,869.25 – Rp. 28,528,259.78/month). The service level of the majority of traders is categorized as medium (64.52%). The characteristics that demonstrate a significant correlation with the service level for selling hygienically slaughtered chickens are education, sales volume, and income, while age and experience do not show a significant correlation.

Abstract

Urban fringe areas play a strategic role in supporting food security and community empowerment, including through the presence of Women Farmers Groups (KWT). This study aims to analyze group dynamics in KWT 09 Dewi Sri, a relatively new group actively involved in urban agriculture in Cipagalo Village, Bandung Regency. The research used a case study method with a descriptive approach and scoring analysis on nine elements of group dynamics, involving 21 respondents. The results show that KWT 09 Dewi Sri falls into the dynamic category with a total score of 2,396 out of a maximum of 2,583. This dynamic is reflected in the members’ active participation, cohesiveness, and spirit of mutual cooperation. Despite limited facilities and external support, the group has maintained independence and consistency in its activities. These findings highlight that strong group dynamics are a key factor in ensuring sustainability and strengthening solidarity in urban fringe communities.
