Abstract

The conversion of rice fields into non-agricultural areas in Bandung Regency has continued to rise in line with rapid urbanization and infrastructure development. This phenomenon not only reduces agricultural land area but also leads to the loss of essential ecosystem services such as food production, water conservation, and carbon sequestration. This study aims to assess the ecological value of converted rice fields through a review of national and international literature and a local case study. This research applies a quantitative descriptive method using a case study approach in Bandung Regency. The valuation technique uses the Market Price Method (MPM) to estimate the economic value of lost food production services due to land conversion. Secondary data were obtained from BPS, the Agricultural Office, and previous studies, and analyzed through ecosystem economic valuation based on market prices and land use changes. The findings indicate that between 2019 and 2024, approximately 2,413 hectares of rice fields were converted. Assuming a rice yield of 5.6 tons/hectare/season, two planting seasons per year, and a dry grain price of Rp7,800/kg, the estimated economic loss in food production services reaches Rp210.8 billion. These results highlight the importance of integrating ecological valuation into spatial planning and farmland protection policies. Recommendations include strengthening land protection regulations, providing ecosystem service-based economic incentives, and improving spatial monitoring systems to prevent unsustainable land conversion.

Abstract

Farmers' Terms of Trade (NTP) and food expenditure share are critical indicators in measuring the economic welfare of farming households. NTP depicts farmers' purchasing power through the comparison of received (It) and paid (Ib) prices, while food expenditure share measures the proportion of income allocated to food and non-food needs. This study aims to analyze Farmers' Terms of Trade (NTP) and food expenditure share among rice farming households in Ramban Wetan Village, Cermee Subdistrict, Bondowoso Regency. The research employed a quantitative method using descriptive-analytic approach. A sample of 86 farmers was selected using stratified random sampling method. Research findings revealed that rice NTP was in a deficit condition at 83.84%, indicating low farmer welfare. The study of household expenditure share showed 64.98% was allocated to non-food needs, with an average of IDR 3,293,799 per planting season, categorizing these households as "Food Insecure".

Abstract

Pageraji Village in Cilongok Sub-district was the center of coconut sugar production in Banyumas Regency. The mould coconut sugar industry in Pageraji Village was facing a decline in the number of penderes due to the high risk of accidents and low income that does not meet the District Minimum Wage (UMK). However, crafters continue to run their businesses due to economic pressure and motivation to fulfill their needs. This study aims to 1) analyze the driving and inhibiting factors of crafters in running a moulded coconut sugar business, and 2) determine the closeness of the relationship between internal and external factors that influence the motivation of crafters in Pageraji Village. The research was conducted using a survey method in Pageraji Village, Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency. The focus of this study was to examine the motivation of moulded coconut sugar crafters in Pageraji Village. Respondents were selected through simple random sampling, resulting in a sample of 119 individuals. The data were analyzed using instrument testing, descriptive analysis, likert scale, and spearman rank correlation analysis. The results show that income, market security, and business continuity are the main motivating factors for moulded coconut sugar crafters in Pageraji Village running their businesses. There are no inhibiting factors that are considered to hinder the moulded coconut sugar business activities, only the risk factor of the crafters when extracting sap and the attachment of the crafters to middlemen, which are considered neutral as inhibiting factors. Family dependents and market security have the strongest correlation with the motivation of moulded coconut sugar crafters in Pageraji Village (correlation coefficient of 0.98), followed by age and risk (0.76), and income and business continuity (0.52).

Abstract

The dependence of chrysanthemum farmers on conventional marketing is one of the causes of fluctuations in chrysanthemums sales. Chrysanthemum farmers in Bandungan Sub-District are generally uninterested in digital marketing. According to the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model, factors influencing farmer’s intention and behavior toward technology include performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. This study aims to analyze factors influencing farmer’s interest in digital marketing of chrysanthemum in Bandungan Sub-District, Semarang Regency. The study was conducted from March to April 2025 in Candi and Kenteng Villages, Bandungan Sub-District, Semarang Regency. The research method used a survey method. The sampling method used purposive sampling method with 100 respondents. The data used was primary and secondary data. Data collection was done by interviews, observation, and documentation. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.729, which means that the variables used in this study were able to explain 72.9% of farmer’s interest in digital marketing, while the other 27.1% were explained by variables that were not included in this study. The F-test showed that the variables had a significant simultaneous effect on farmer’s interest. The t-test showed that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and facilitating conditions have a significant effect on farmer’s interest, while social influence has no significant effect. Therefore, awareness of benefits of digital marketing and increasing the role of influential people is needed to increase farmer’s interest.

Abstract

Women’s empowerment, particularly in the livestock subsector, is an important issue that continues to receive attention in Indonesia's social and economic development. The Kartini Peternak Indonesia Program was initiated to provide support to female farmers in overcoming the various challenges they face. This study aims to analyze the empowerment of female dairy farmers through the Kartini Peternak Indonesia Program, which has been implemented in the KPBS Pangalengan work area. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach, involving 27 informants, including female farmers and related stakeholders. The results of this study show that the program successfully enhanced the knowledge and skills of female farmers in livestock business management, as well as opened opportunities for business diversification. Additionally, the program contributed to the improvement of income and quality of life for female farmers, which in turn supports national food security. This study is expected to provide recommendations for further development in the empowerment of women in the livestock subsector.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate strategies for strengthening organizational commitment that support the sustainability of culinary SMEs in Bogor City. The research adopts a mixed method sequential explanatory approach, in which prior quantitative results are explored further through in-depth interviews. Informants include business owners, managers, and employees of various culinary SMEs. The findings reveal that organizational support, creative innovation, participative leadership, and human capital development are critical elements in sustaining employee loyalty and motivation. Based on thematic analysis and integration with the quantitative model, a strategic framework is developed involving reward systems, skills training, inclusive work culture, and employee empowerment. This study contributes to the development of an organizational commitment–based human resource strategy model within the informal sector.

Abstract

Digital marketing is a marketing strategy that utilises technology and digital platforms to reach, interact and build relationships with customers that can be accessed by businesses. But there are still many fish processors who are members of the fish processing and marketing group who have not done digital marketing. This study aims to analyse the interest of business actors in digital marketing technology, and analyse the effect of business actors' interest in the factors that influence interest in digital marketing technology. This research was conducted in Tasikmalaya City in October 2024 - April 2025 to fish processing business actors who are members of fish processing and marketing groups with a sample of 35 people. For the analysis method used, namely quantitative descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the interest of fish processing businesses in digital marketing technology was in the high category. Jointly, variables including age, education, income, business scale, experience, knowledge, convenience, trust, usefulness, profit, risk perception, and access to technology have a significant influence on the interest of fish processing businesses in digital marketing technology. The variables of education, income, business scale, and access to technology each have a strong influence on the interest of fish processors in digital marketing technology.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven significant changes in various aspects of life, including food consumption patterns, particularly among Generation Z. One rapidly growing innovation is Online Food Delivery (OFD) services. Lifestyle changes and technological convenience require culinary business actors to understand consumer segmentation accurately in order to remain competitive. This research was conducted at three universities in the Jatinangor District, namely Padjadjaran University, Bandung Institute of Technology (Jatinangor Campus), and the Indonesian Cooperative University (IKOPIN). The aim is to identify the characteristics of Generation Z users of OFD services. This study adopts a quantitative approach using a survey method, with a sample size of 196 respondents. The results show that the concepts of food-related lifestyle, purchasing decisions, and customer value are perceived positively by respondents, making them relevant in the context of online food delivery usage among Generation Z. This research provides a theoretical contribution by enriching the literature on the Food-Related Lifestyle (FRL) concept in the digital context, as well as a practical contribution for food industry players and OFD service providers in designing marketing strategies that align with the characteristics of Generation Z consumers.

Abstract

Shallots are the largest agricultural production in Probolinggo Regency. Azka Home Industry processes red onions into fried onions to develop its business. However, there are several problems such as unstable prices and unstable supply of shallots. The objectives of this research are 1) to determine the product flow, money flow, and information flow in the fried onion supply chain flow at the Azka Home Industry. 2) to analyze the performance of the fried onion supply chain at the Azka Home Industry. Sampling used the "snowball sampling" method. Performance level analysis uses the "delivery performance" method with SOCR (Scheduled Order to Customer Request) calculations. The results of this research show 1) the product flow in the Azka Home Industry fried onion supply chain flows from upstream to downstream or from farmers to consumers, the flow of money is inversely proportional to the product flow, the money flow in the Azka Home Industry fried onion supply chain starts from consumers to farmers, the flow of information in the fried onion supply chain runs in two directions. 2) partner performance in the fried bang supply chain has very good criteria based on SOCR (Scheduled Order to Customer Request) calculations, the Dringu middleman got a score of 91.14%, the Tegalsiwalan middleman got a score of 86.89%, the Bali distributor's assessment of the Azka Home Industry was 89.41% and the Malang distributor's assessment of the Azka Home Industry was 91.11%

Abstract

The Farmer Card program was designed to improve farmers’ welfare and strengthen the agricultural sector. Evaluating the program’s effectiveness was important because it served as a key access point for farmers to agricultural resources. This study aimed to (1) identify the level of effectiveness of the Farmer Card program and (2) analyze factors that influenced its effectiveness in Penambuhan Village, Margorejo District, Pati Regency. The research was conducted from September to October 2024. The survey method was used, with samples selected through proportional random sampling. Quantitative data analysis was applied. Independent variables included farmers’ age, knowledge, availability of facilities and infrastructure, participation, and the role of extension workers. The dependent variable was the program’s effectiveness. The results showed that the Farmer Card program in Penambuhan Village ran effectively. However, the dimension measuring program success was categorized as less effective, while target achievement and satisfaction were in the effective category. Farmers’ age, knowledge, availability of facilities and infrastructure, participation, and extension workers’ roles simultaneously influenced the program’s effectiveness. Partially, farmers’ knowledge, facilities and infrastructure, and participation affected effectiveness, while age and extension workers’ roles did not. The study recommended that extension workers provide socialization and assistance to farmers about the Farmer Card program beyond subsidized fertilizers, including business credit applications, saving, and direct sales of harvests. Creating a WhatsApp group was also suggested to facilitate communication between farmer groups and extension workers.
