Abstract

Since rice straw is seasonal and low quality roughage, a supplementation for it is needed. Lamtoro leave meal (LLM), having both soluble and by-pass protein so, its enough potential to supply nutrients for optimize of rumen microbes and improving animal performance. When fed to animals with high portion of roughage can affect methane production highly, an adding reduction methane agent for it is needed, like ketepeng leave meal (KLM) and lemuru fish oil (LFO). Supplementation with LLM significantly increased dry matter and crude fiber intake (p<0.05). This fact showed that LLM supplementation optimized rumen fermentation by microbes. Comparisonbetween LLM-KLM and LLM-LFO to basal diet clearly showed that basal diet is the lowest (p<0.01) performance (0.19 vs 0.21; 0.23kg/h/d), however, the animal fed basal diet degraded crude fiber was significant (p<0.05) higher (74.49 vs 69.02; 65.17%). It is apparent from this experiment that supllementation with lamtoro leave meal by adding both ketepeng leave meal and lemuru fish oil as a reduction methane agent are palatable, fermentable and reasonably digestible. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the marketing channels of fresh milk in Klaten , costs, benefits, marketing margin and efficiency. The basic method used was the descriptive analysis and purposive sampling with the Kayumas Village, Jatinom was selected as a place for the research. In total, 30 dairy farmers were taken as samples by random sampling method. Meanwhile, traders samples taken by snowball sampling consisted of two traders, 3 and 1 meddle retailers. The data used were primary and secondary data taken in April 2010 with interview techniques, recording and observation. Data was analyzed using cost margin analysis.The results of this study showed that there were two patterns of fresh milk marketing channels. Channels I: dairy farmers → TPS → KUD → IPS, home industry, retailers and consumers. Channel II: dairy farmers → collectors → traders from outside of Jatinom. In the first line the total marketing cost was Rp. 263.76, total marketing profit was Rp. 143.26 and marketing margins was Rp. 328.26 per liter. For marketing channel II total marketing cost was Rp. 52.93, total marketing profit was Rp. 60.07 and marketing margins was Rp. 81.50 per liter. Both of the channels were efficient with the farmer's share of 89.06% for channels I and 97.24% for channel II.

Abstract

This objective of the research was to know the effect of soaking with hydrogenperoxide on weight reduction, haugh unit and albumen index of duck eggs during storage at room temperature. The research was designed as Completely Randomize Design (CRD) wtih four treatments and six replicates each. The treatments were: soaking with aquades, soaking with 1, 2, and 3% of hydrogen The data were analyzed by analysis of variance and continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results indicated that soaking with hydrogen peroxyde influended the egg weight, Haugh Unit and albumen index at chamber temperature during the storage. Soaking with 1% hydrogen peroxide showed the best results compared with the other treatments.Key words: soaking, hydrogen peroxide, weight decrease, haugh unit, albumen index

Abstract

The meat consumption in Indonesia is still relatively low, thus the opportunity to increase beef cattle production (population) as a meat production is relatively high. Therefore, a study on the balance of population in Central Java was carried out in order to analyze the population balance of beef cattle in Central Java. The explorative observation study and field survey was carried out in Banyumas, Purworejo, Jepara, Boyolali regencies and Surakarta, Semarang, Pekalongan. Whereas for Province central java level we used desk study method. The results of the study show that the dynamics of livestock population is determined by fertility, mortality, buchering, input and output of the livestock in certain area. The dynamic of beef cattle in Central Java in the last ten years (1995-2004) has increased 0.91 approximately. However, the increase during 2004-2005 estimated only 0.22%. central Java’s contribution to national meat production is 12.75% with increasing on production during 1997-2004 is 6.56%. this development is higher than the population increasing (0.91%/year). The increase of beef cattle population in Pekalongan is the highest (73.50%) though its population is the lowest (285 beef cattles in 2004). The decrease population is in Semarang (-10.06%) and jepara Regency (-1.68%). Implicitly it show thet in theperiod, the quantities of buchering beef cattle is over the birth level.Key words : Balance population, demand of beef, cattle

Abstract

The study was conducted to identify the body measurements of Muscovy duck among threeregency (Pekalongan, Magelang dan Demak) in Central Java. Material of the experiment was 210 muscovy ducks at 7 months of age (70 birds/regency, 35 males and 35 females). Parameters observed were body weight, bill length, bill width, head length, head circumference, high head, neck length, neck circumference, wing length, body length, breast circumference, body height, breast length, femur length, tibia length, tibia circumference, maxilla length, and length of third toe. Data of body measurement were analyzed through univariate and multivariate using SAS.Whereas the Mahalanobis distance were analyzed using MEGA 5 (UPGMA) to construct the phylogeny tree. Result showed that there were some differences (P<0,05) between male and female of muscovy duck in each regency at all variables. Wing length and breast circumference were the distinguishing variable between regencys. Muscovy duck from Magelang had a closer genetic distance to Pekalongan than Demak.Keywords: body measurement, muscovy duck

Abstract

This research is aiming at finding the feasibility of close house investment of broiler farmers of Plasma PT Gema Usaha Ternak from the financial point of view. The research was conducted by collecting primary and secondary data. The primary data, consisting of house size, number of birds, investment cost, operational and raising costs and farmer’s revenue, were obtained from the broiler farmers of plasma PT Gema Usaha Ternak. The secondary data, consisting of standard house investment cost, operational and raising costs, the current prices, and farmers’ revenue, were gained from PT Gema Usaha Ternak. Both primary and secondary data were then analyzed, observing the net present value, profitability index, discounted payback period and internal rate of return. The result of financial analysis was sensitively tested with changing some cost structures. The proving of the first hypothesis revealed that close house investment were financially feasible. The result of sensitivity analysis with some changes in cost structure showed that the more the farmers used  their own capital the more feasible it would be. The result of analysis on aspects of techniques and technology, marketing, operational management, and social-environment showed that close coop investment was feasible. Key words : broiler farmers, feasibility analysis, sensitivity analysis

Abstract

The research was aimed to study the egg production, digestion and reproduction tract, and body protection parameters of the force molting (FM) technology application on rejected laying hen. Thirty-six rejected laying hens were randomly devided into two kinds of treatment (T0 and T1), with three replication each. Each replication consisted of six hens. T0 (control) was ad libitum feeding during the research. T1 was FM treatment of six-days feed fasting, continued by restricted feeding (corn 50 g/hen/day) for 29 days. After the treatment, T1 was fed as T0 for 3 x 28 days period. Water was given ad libitum for T0 and T1. Variables observed included production and egg quality, length and weight of the parts of digestion and reproduction tract, and blood profile. The result of the research showed that FM treatment on rejected laying hens significantly increased the percentage of  egg production and egg-mass, decreasing feed conversion ratio, but it insignificantly influenced on feed consumption and egg quality. The weight  and length of the parts of digestion and reproduction tract were insignificantly influenced by FM treatment, except of gizzard, magnum and uterus weight, and isthmus length. The FM treatment was insignificantly influenced the body protection parameters. It was concluded that the force molting technology on rejected laying hen could re-activation of egg production without effecting on the parts of digestion and reproduction organ, and body protection parameters. Key words: Force molting, rejected laying hen, egg production, digestion and reproduction                    tract, body protection

Abstract

The research aimed to know the effect of rice bran steaming and MHA supplementation on the increasing of nutrient digestibility of local male sheep. This research used 12 local male sheeps with average of body weight 10.32 ± 1.02 kg. Treatment of rations were for P0 (60 % king grass + 40 % bran), P1 (60 % king grass +40 % steamed bran), P2 (60 % king grass + 40 % steamed bran + 1 g MHA). Design used in research was  Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in one-way pattern using 3 treatments. Each treatment consisted of 4 replications. Parameters observed were dry matter intake, organic matter intake, dry matter nutritive value index and organic matter nutritive value index. The result of treatment P0, P1, and P2 for dry matter intake were 960.024; 909.426; and 926.399 g/head/day respectively, organic matter intake were 825.036; 772.665; and 796.225 g/head/day, organic matter digestibility in percent were 72.424; 73.050; and 73.068, organic matter digestibility in percent were 75.989; 76.306; and 76.239, dry matter nutritive value index were 695.396; 664.392; and 677.654 g/head/day and organic matter nutritive value index were 626.894; 589.985; and 607.649 g/head/day. The variance Analysis showed that the usage of steamed rice bran and adding of MHA given non significantly effect (P>0.5) on dry matter intake, organic matter intake, dry matter digestibility, organic matter digestibility, dry matter nutritive value index, and organic matter nutritive value index. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of rice bran (DP) and industrial waste beer or beer dregs (AB) with different ratios on TDN local sheep ration and to know the optimal level of provision. Sheep were used in this study were male local sheep weighing 15 kg ± 1.5 kg as much as 12 heads. Treatment ration consists of forage and concentrates with a ratio of 60%: 40% (in DM) in the form of grass king, DP and AB. The design used in this study is a Completely Randomized Block Design (RCBD) with three treatments and four replications. Treatment applied is P1 = 60% Grass King + 29% DP + 9% AB + 2% Premix, P2 = 60% Grass King + 19% DP + 19% AB + 2% Premix, P3 = 60% Grass King + 9 % DP + 29% AB + 2% Premix. Variables measured are nutrients (crude protein = PK, extract ether = LK, crude fiber = SK and Nitrogen free extract = BETN) can be digested. The results showed that PKdd and LKdd strongly influenced (P <0.01) by the ratio of DP and AB. The use of DP and AB ratio of 19%: 19% and 9% DP AB : 29% highly significant to increase PKdd and LKdd (PK ss: 6.71 vs 7.64; 8.12 and the LKdd: 4:07 vs 4:27; 4:36). While carbohydrates are composed of SKdd and BETNdd did not influenced by differences in the ratio of DP and AB. The use of rice bran and the dregs of beer at local male sheep give the best TDN value at the level of 19% and 19% rice bran and industrial waste beer or beer dregs.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the effect of coconut sugar paste in naturally fermented trash fish ensilage on chemical change. Grinded trash fish (Pomadasys macullatus) was mixed with coconut sugar paste (0, 15, 30 and 45%/kg fresh trash fish) without inoculation in plastic bag. Anaerobe incubation was conducted at room temperature (29°±1°C). Chemical change (pH, lactic acid, ammonia, non-protein nitrogen, peroxide value and free fatty acid) was observed during fermentation period of 0, 4, 8, 12, 20 and 24 days. The experiment which had a completely randomized design to select the best amount of coconut sugar paste and fermentation period in trash fish ensilage. Fresh trash fish and fermentation product (trash fish silage) determined by the proximate analysis (dry matter, ash, crude protein and crude fat). Result indicated that the pH decreased remained constan at 4,4 after 16-day fermentation. Lactic acid, ammonia, non-protein nitrogen, peroxide value and free fatty acid during fermentation significantly increased due to different levels of coconut sugar paste and fe rmentation period. Conclusively, coconut sugar paste at the level of 15%/kg fresh trash fish was the best combination in natural fermentation with 16-day fermentation period and the product was potential protein source (45% DM) for animal feed. Key word: Trash fish, coconut sugar paste, silage, fermentation.
