Abstract

Merawang chicken is one of the native chickens from Gallus-gallus species, family Phasianidae. Merawang chicken is a local chicken from Merawang Village, Merawang District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province and is a genetic source and community asset of Bangka Island Province. Merawang chicken has the potential to be developed as a dual-purpose chicken producing eggs and meat. The research was conducted at the Petaling trial garden, BPTP Kepulauan Bangka Belitung in January 2017. This study aims to determine the performance of first and second breed Merawang chicken both male and female on the final body weight, carcass weight and carcass percentage. The materials used were 24 Merawang chicken, each of which was 12 for the first breed and the second breed and distinguished by sex. The experimental design used was a Complete Randomized Block Design consisting of 2 treatments and 3 replications and one observation unit as many as 2 heads. Data were analyzed statistically by ANOVA and Duncan test with 95% confidence interval. The variables observed in this study include the final body weight, carcass weight and carcass percentage. The results of the variance analysis showed thatthere were no differences in performance between the first breed of Merawang (F1) and the second breed (F2). Sex differences have a significant effect (P≤0.05) on the final body weight, carcass weight and percentage of carcass in Merawang chicken.

Abstract

This reaserch was aimed to study about performance offemale Peranakan Ongole cattle that fed diet based on fermented straw and contains Indigofera zollingeriana. Sixteen offemale PO cattles which were allocated in 4 treatment diets consisting of :R1 = Fermented rice straw A (ad libitum) + 3 kg rice bran, R2= Fermented rice straw A (ad libitum) + 3 kg concentrate, R3= Fermented rice straw A (ad libitum) + 2 kg rice bran + 1 kg Indigofera zollingeriana, R4= Fermented rice straw B (ad libitum) + 2 kg rice bran + 1 kg Indigofera zollingeriana. The experimental used completed randomized design. One-way ANOVA and Ducan’s Multiple Range Testwere performed to compare the significant difference.  The T3 and T4 diets containing Indigofera zollingeriana resulted in higher growth gain andaverage daily gain with a lower feed conversion (P <0.05) than the non-Indigofera zollingeriana (T1 and T2) diets. Fermentation of rice straw using rice bran, molasses, and EM-4 used in T4 diet resulted in the highest growth gain and  average daily gain (P<0.05) and the lowest feed conversion (P <0.05) i.e. 88.00 kg, 0.807 kg/head/day and 11.2 respectively. Conclusion, the female PO cattles fed diet containing fermented rice straw by rice bran, molasses, and EM-4 (fermented rice straw B)(ad libitum) and 2 kg of rice bran and Indigofera zollingeriana 1 kg (asfed) produces the best performance.

Abstract

The aim of this research was studied the effect of addition leaf meal in feed on performance of broiler chicken. The research used five groups of treatments, those were 0.0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, and 10.0% calliandra leaf meal on feed. Each treatment were consists of three replications. The data of  feed intake, average daily gain, protein intake, energy intake and feed conversion ratio were taken every week for 4 weeks. The collected data were analyzed using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and continued by tested using Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the addition of calliandra leaf meal significantly (P<0.05) on feed intake, body weight gain, protein intake, energy intake and feed conversion ratio. The result of this study  can be concluded that utilization of calliandra leaf meal with maximum level 5.0% did not affect the performance of broiler.

Abstract

Maggot black soldier fly extracted (Hermetia illucens) were mechanical extracted from maggot meal, so that the fat content of the maggot extracted is lower than the maggot meal. Quality protein and metabolizable energy content maggot extracted is not yet known, but important for poultry feed formulations. Therefore, this study aims to determine the value of apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (AMEn) and nitrogen retention maggot extracted is experimentedat male and female duck at various ages of duck. The study used 32 Alabio duck placed in individual cages. The design used was randomized block design with four treatments and four replications. Data obtained were analyzed variance and Duncan's multiple range test. The treatments experimented consisted of P1: the ducks age of4 weeks, P2: the ducks age of 8 weeks, P3: the ducks age of 12 weeks, and P4: the ducks age of 24 weeks. The results of this research showed that the age of ducks  effect the value of metabolizable energy and nitrogen retention maggot extracted, whereas sex are not significant effect(P>0.05). It can be concluded thatthe content of metabolizable energy and nitrogen retention maggot extracted at 8-24 weeks of age ducks are relatively similar, while at the age of 4 weeks ducks metabolizable energy content and nitrogen retention lower than the ducks age of 8-24 weeks.

Abstract

The research purpose was to determine nutrient content of dried of poultry waste urea molasses block (DPW-UMB). The research method was used completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 5 replicates. The treatments used for research were T1 (10% manure of laying chicken and 25% molasses), T2 (15% manure of laying chicken and 30% molasses), and T3 (20% manure of laying chicken and 30% molasses). The data analysis was the analysis of variance (anova) and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that treatments has significantly difference (P<0.01) on dry matter, crude protein, and ash. It could be concluded that dpw-umb contained sufficient levels of nutrients. it could be used as feedstuff for ruminants for supplementation with the required nutrients.

Abstract

The research objectives were to evaluate farmer characteristics and existing conditions of Sandalwood horse development in Pasola areas at South-West of Sumba Regency. The research was conducted based on a survey method. The research location were Kodi, Kodi Bangedo, and Kodi Balaghar Districts, which were determined by using purposive sampling technique. Data collection were obtained by a depth-interviewing toward 79 respondents of the Sandalwood horse farmers based on the research instrument. The data were analyzed by applying descriptively statistic. The result shows that the farmer characteristics were men in productive age with 21-30 years period of experience in raising the horses, the amount of the horses were under 5, primary school graduated 35,44% and 68,35% have never followed technical training in livestock. The existing conditions of the Sandalwood horse development in the Pasola areas at South-West of Sumba Regency were influenced by some factors such as low capital, traditionally raising management, limitation attention towards the horse products (meat and milk), and low application of technologies in reproduction, feed, and waste aspects.
