Abstract

The object of learning in science was all natural objects that require in-depth exploration in learning. Media was needed to inform messages that had been designed by the educators so that learning was more realistic and fun. This study was designed with the research explorative type with qualitative descriptive approach, involving a teacher and the students in class VII at 2 different science classes at SMPN 2 Boja. The technique of data collection used documentation study and questionnaire. To test the validity of data and put confidence in the data validity criteria (credibility) used the triangulation. The result of study showed that the type of Science materials in general were in the form of teaching materials in print, visual and multimedia, nonetheless there had been no audiovisual Science teaching materials, for example the film. The teachers’ lack of knowledge about meta-cognitive made the meta-cognitive ability of the students was less good. The development of teaching materials had not narrowed to the achievement of specific competencies including meta-cognitive abilities of the students. It could be concluded that it was necessary to develop the type of teaching materials Audio Visual form of film in general often referred to as digital storytelling in science teaching to improve the students' meta-cognitive skills.

Abstract

English Language Teaching in Integrated Science Department is often challenging to train students to understand science content in English and present it fluently. In the implementation of daily lecturing activities Basic English theories such as grammatical structure and IPA content are taught separately. This causes no integration between the two materials. Based on the problems an instructional material that integrates the basic theory of English and science content is needed to support the learning activities. This product is designed to improve previously unstructured instructional materials. The product developed through lesson study stages. In the Plan stage, the need analysis and product development were conducted. While at the Do stage, the instructional material was implemented in the learning process. Finally is the See stage, this stage is a reflection on the whole process of lecturing both in the process and products used. The instructional material was validated by language, content and media experts and it can be said to be feasible to use in the learning process. Then the product was used in learning process and can help students to improve the English proficiency in science with an average of 80.

Abstract

Most junior high school students considered chemistry as a complicated science subject with abstract symbols and terms that must be memorized. The difficulty of learning chemistry can make students have low positive perceptions of chemistry. The purpose of our multiple case study was to explore how an integrated learning media can help teachers and students understand the difficulty of chemistry and create a good impression in junior high school. The integrated learning media has been developed based on multiple representations in chemistry. The study was conducted in three classes in grade 7. Several techniques were used to collect the data: a classroom observation, a test, the questionnaires, and an interview. We documented that the appearance of integrated learning media could make the students attracted and curious about chemistry. They were interested in various bright colors used in integrated learning media, which captured their attention to focus on learning. The integrated learning media made it easier for the teacher to introduce chemistry through podcast, molymod, and simulation.
