Abstract

This study aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of PowerPoint learning media through the Smart School Lampung Berjaya virtual class application in improving the teaching and learning process, especially in development, roots, and logarithm material. This study used the ADDIE Development Research Model approach and was conducted at a state senior high school in  Limau, Tanggamus Regency, with a sample of 30 students. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and tests, while data analysis techniques used qualitative research methods. Based on research, PowerPoint learning media products through the Smart School Lampung Berjaya virtual class application which have been validated by media experts, learning material experts, and mathematics teachers, as well as through student response tests, have proven effective in supporting the learning process. The results of this study indicate that the use of PowerPoint learning media through the Smart School Lampung Berjaya virtual class application can be a very effective tool in the teaching and learning process. The implication is that this media can be used to facilitate students' understanding of more complex material, such as development, roots, and logarithms, and can help increase the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

English as a Foreign Language teaching and learning has made extensive use of the integration of multimedia language such as Rosetta Stone. Therefore, this research aims to find out Junior High school students' motivation in learning pronunciation by using the Rosetta Stone in three dimensions of self-determination theory in terms of autonomy, competence and relatedness. The quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with 30 samples divided into two groups was used in this methodology. The experimental group received face-to-face instruction using Rosetta Stone, while the control group only received instruction using the drilling technique. Furthermore, the result of statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the groups in terms of total support for the experimental group. As a result, Rosetta Stone inspired students to participate in the pronunciation class, and they are enthusiastic and satisfied with the use of Rosetta Stone in the classroom.

Abstract

This research discovered how the Information and Communication Technology (hereinafter, ICT) tools were used and the obstacles faced in English language teaching after the pandemic. This research used quantitative methods to gather the data. The data was obtained by administering a questionnaire and sharing via Google form with 40 students of the English Department at the State Islamic Institute in Papua. The results of this study indicate that students majoring in English at the Papua State Islamic Institute use two categories of ICT in the learning process, namely web-based learning and non-web-based learning. Web-based learning ICT Tools used are the Internet as the connection as well, YouTube, ZOOM Meeting, WhatsApp, Mobile Phones, and Computer or Laptop. Meanwhile, non-web-based learning ICT Tools used are language Lab, Overhead Projectors, and Films. The ICT Tools used are language lab and overhead projectors. The obstacles faced by the students are Lack of Effective Training, Limited accessibility, and network connection, a school with limited technical support, limited time, and lack of lecturers' competency. The biggest problem reached 59.30% with limited accessibility and network connection and school with limited technical support. This means English Department at State Islamic Institute in Papua has a low internet connection and insufficient computer and software to access.

Abstract

There has been a recent increase in the adoption of e-learning platforms as a means of teaching in the digital age. Although many studies highlight the advantages of e-learning, there is still an urgent concern to explain why some students are unhappy with the time they spend online learning and not much is known about how students feel about it. The aim of this research is to explore how the behavior and attitudes of educators and students related to e-learning after the covid19 era. This research uses mix method with samples taken randomly from 80 faculty teacher training students. The research instrument is in the form of separate observations and surveys about their perspectives. Statistical studies show that undergraduate students have attitudes that strongly support the potential of e-learning as a pedagogical aid to support their independence in learning. The use of e-learning is felt to be able to increase independence in learning and spur students to interact with technology as a practical learning tool. Undergraduate students' perceptions of the effectiveness of e-learning can be supported by several factors, such as clear instructions, creative and innovative teachers, adequate infrastructure, and independent learning. The results of this study provide recommendations for improving teaching materials and learning models designed for blended classrooms.

Abstract

The education paradigm has now changed from teacher-centred to student-centred, and media technology has become a current issue that needs to be interested. The objective of the present study is to investigate the utilization of YouTube media as a learning material for teaching Intensive Reading skills, as well as to determine the impact on students' learning attitudes. YouTube is used to acquire new knowledge and information and help complete the learning material, particularly in delivering technical matters. Besides, YouTube also provides a variety wide range of aspects with unlimited content. Thus, It can cultivate students’ autonomous learning capability. Students who are capable of autonomous learning can set their goals, create a study plan, choose skills and methods to be used, monitor their acquisition, and evaluate what they have learned.  This study offered a case studies research design. The case study is based on autonomous learning used in this study. Autonomous learning is an innovative concept that adheres to the advantages of online teaching-learning using YouTube to deliver learning material media. The questionnaire was distributed to 78 students involved in the intensive reading classes to obtain the data. A statistical assessment of the analysis data shows that autonomous learning of intensive reading classes using YouTube positively impacts students' learning attitudes. In other wordss, YouTube application is a learning alternative that allows students to manage the learning process through independence, self-exploration and freedom of learning to achieve optimal learning results.

Abstract

This study explains students’ anxiety in public speaking at the second semester of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program. The purpose of this study was to describe the contributing factors that cause students to experience such condition. The participants in this study consisted of 22 students. This study used descriptive quantitative. The instruments used in the study were questionnaires. The questionnaire was the FCLAS (Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale). The data were analyzed using a Likert scale to determine the factors that cause students' anxiety in public speaking. The results show that the factors that cause student anxiety in public speaking are internal factors and external factors. It shows the mean score of the level of students' anxiety , where the percentage of the two factors, namely internal factors, is 51% and external factors are 49% of the highest score of 100% points and the total number of questions was 33 numbers. Most correspondents are in the middle anxious classification with a median total of 3 points in both factors.

Abstract

The lack of local content-based material in Reading and Writing (RW) courses has contributed to tertiary students' low cultural awareness ability in Indonesia. Technology has increased the use of hypermedia text in RW in learning. This study aimed to develop a local-content-based e-module to improve students' cultural awareness in the RW course. The Research and Development (RD) method was applied through the need analysis, product development, field trial, and dissemination steps. Two media experts and two content experts participated in this study. Thirty-three students were selected purposively as the research sample. Questionnaires using a Likert scale of 1-4 and interviews were used to collect the data. Descriptive statistics and one-to-one analysis were applied in this study.   The research found that the media expert validity score was 95%, the content expert validity score was 95%, and the students' validity score was 90%. It means that the e-module was very valid. It was also interpreted that 89% of students were motivated to learn  RW course using a local wisdom-based e-module, and  90% agreed that the local wisdom-based e-module improved their cultural awareness. Tertiary students in Indonesia could use an e-module based on local wisdom, especially in RW courses.
