Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the use of audiovisual media that can provide examples in memorizing the Qur'an in terms of writing (visual) and pronunciation (audio) so that the learning process will be more meaningful and will affect student learning outcomes. This research was conducted at the Integrated Islamic Private Junior High School in Medan. This research is of the Quasi Experimental type with factorial design (factorial experimental design). The result of this study is that there is an influence on the use of audio-visual media on the learning outcomes of tahfidz at the Integrated Islamic Private Junior High School in Medan. This can be seen from the results of the first hypothesis test which obtained a calculated F score = 27.335 greater than F table = 1.156 and the sign value. 0.000 is smaller than the significance level of 0.05 so hypothesis testing rejects H0 and accepts Ha. Then there is the influence of the ability to read the Qur'an on the results of learning tahfidz at the Integrated Islamic Private Junior High School. There is also an influence on the use of learning media and the ability to read the Qur'an on the learning outcomes.

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation in education demands interactive and contextual learning strategies. In economics education, concepts such as payment systems and tools are often abstract and disconnected from students’ real-life experiences. This study investigates the effectiveness of Genially-based web learning media in improving students’ conceptual understanding of these topics. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed involving 36 tenth-grade students from SMAN 2 Krakatau Steel Cilegon. Students were randomly assigned to an experimental group (using Genially media) and a control group (conventional learning). Data were collected through concept tests, questionnaires, and interviews, and analyzed using paired and independent sample t-tests alongside descriptive qualitative analysis. The experimental group showed a significantly greater improvement in posttest scores (gain of 24.89 points) compared to the control group (gain of 14.17 points). Statistical analysis confirmed the difference was significant (p 0.05). Students reported high satisfaction with Genially’s visual appeal, ease of navigation, and relevance to real-world applications. Interview results indicated that the media helped students visualize and better retain abstract economic concepts. The findings demonstrate that Genially-based media effectively enhances conceptual understanding and learning engagement. Its multimedia features support cognitive processing and align with constructivist and multimedia learning theories. This suggests that integrating well-designed web-based tools can significantly improve economics education at the high school level.

Abstract

The recruitment and selection of educators play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of higher education in Indonesian private universities. Understanding the strategies and policies involved in this process is vital to improving institutional outcomes. This study conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 25 peer-reviewed articles published between 2013 and 2023, focusing on educator recruitment and selection strategies in Indonesian private universities.. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, relevant articles were gathered from databases including Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and ERIC. The search utilized keywords such as educator recruitment, selection strategies, private universities, and higher education employment policies. The analysis involved thematic synthesis, identifying trends, challenges, and best practices within the literature. The findings reveal that private universities prioritize educator qualifications, alignment with institutional values, and cultural fit during recruitment. However, they face challenges such as attracting highly qualified educators due to competitive job markets. Moreover, the literature lacks sufficient exploration of digital recruitment tools and their long-term impact on educational quality, indicating an area for future research. This review suggests that future research should explore innovative recruitment strategies, including integrating digital tools, to improve recruitment outcomes and enhance educational quality in private universities.

Abstract

In Indonesia’s multilingual higher education landscape, especially in Eastern regions like Makassar, institutions face growing challenges in developing students' academic literacy in both Indonesian and English amid rapid digital transformation. This study investigates how digital tools, pedagogical practices, and cultural factors intersect in shaping language learning outcomes. Using a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the study surveyed 200 students and 50 faculty members across five universities in Makassar, followed by interviews, focus groups, and classroom observations conducted between August 2023 and March 2024. Quantitative data included self-assessed language proficiency, digital literacy, and learning motivation. Qualitative data provided contextual insights into classroom practices and institutional dynamics. Quantitative analysis revealed major gaps in productive English skills—73% of students reported difficulties in speaking—and substantial challenges in Indonesian academic writing. Faculty quality (β = 0.79, p .001) and student motivation (β = 0.72, p .01) were the strongest predictors of success. Qualitative findings emphasized the role of translanguaging, culturally responsive teaching, and the digital divide in shaping learning experiences. A hybrid learning model (40% online, 60% face-to-face) integrating translanguaging strategies and local cultural practices emerged as a promising approach. The study recommends faculty development in digital pedagogy and inclusive curriculum design. Strengthening multilingual education in resource-constrained contexts requires context-specific innovations that bridge global competencies with local identities through culturally grounded digital transformation.

Abstract

Enhancing teacher competence is essential for improving educational quality. This study investigates effective planning, implementation, and evaluation patterns for teacher competency development at Sirithamwittaya School, a junior secondary school in Southern Thailand. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed to explore the experiences of principals and teachers. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis to identify key patterns in teacher development. Three major patterns emerged. Planning involves structured collaboration through meetings among principals, teachers, and education staff, fostering a shared vision. Implementation utilizes diverse professional development methods, including training seminars, workshops, material writing training, and ICT training, to enhance teachers' skills. Evaluation is systematic, incorporating activity monitoring, collaborative problem-solving, and teacher recognition to maintain motivation and commitment. Findings underscore the significance of a collaborative approach and systematic evaluation in teacher development. Effective planning ensures alignment with educational goals, diverse implementation strategies enhance professional growth, and structured evaluation reinforces continuous improvement. This study suggests that the identified patterns can serve as a model for other schools seeking to enhance teacher competence and improve educational outcomes. Further research could explore their application in different educational contexts.

Abstract

Student engagement in social studies learning at the junior high school level remains a challenge, often due to limited contextual teaching methods and conventional media. This study addresses the need for media innovation by developing digital learning materials that integrate local wisdom to enhance relevance and engagement. The research employed a Research and Development (RD) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The media was designed using content on local wisdom—hutan larangan and sungai larangan—and developed through Canva and Heyzine platforms into interactive digital formats. Expert validation was conducted for content and media design. Implementation involved two trials: a small group (40 students) and a large group (92 students). Data were collected through questionnaires assessing feasibility and student engagement. Expert validation rated the media as highly feasible, with scores of 94% (content) and 95% (media design). Student responses were also highly positive, scoring 90% in the small group and 92% in the large group. Student engagement significantly improved, rising from 60% to 90% in the small group and from 62% to 93% in the large group following media implementation. The findings demonstrate that digital media based on local wisdom effectively increases student engagement in social studies learning. The integration of culturally relevant content and interactive design fosters greater interest and participation, suggesting strong potential for broader application in educational settings.
