Al Ishlah Jurnal Pendidikan
This journal focuses on advancing scholarly research and critical discourse in the field of education. It publishes original research articles that address contemporary issues and emerging trends in curriculum development, instructional practices, learning processes, educational policy, and teacher preparation. The journal aims to contribute to the development of educational theory and practice in both national and international contexts. The journal also welcomes submissions related to environmental education and studies that examine learning through psychological, social, cultural, cognitive, and historical perspectives. Research that explores the interrelationships among teaching, knowledge construction, learner development, and educational contexts is particularly encouraged. Furthermore, the journal accepts research and academic discussions across a broad range of subject matter within education, including mathematics education, religious education, language pedagogy and English for Specific Purposes (ESP), natural sciences, social sciences, history, chemistry, and other related educational disciplines. The journal includes the following thematic sections: Learning: Theoretical and empirical investigations concerning learning processes and their development across diverse contexts. Issues and Trends: Analytical and interpretive essays addressing current educational, social, and philosophical issues. Learning in Everyday Life: Studies of learning experiences occurring outside formal academic settings, such as in homes, communities, digital environments, and cultural institutions. Teacher Education: Research on teacher preparation, professional development, and the broader conditions shaping the teaching profession. Education Policy: Critical analyses of educational policies, their principles, implementation, and effects on educational practice. Comments and Criticism: Scholarly dialogue aimed at clarifying, challenging, or expanding upon previously published works. Book Reviews: Reviews of recent publications relevant to the field of education. The Editorial Board invites manuscripts employing rigorous quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method approaches that demonstrate academic originality and significant contribution to educational scholarship. All submissions must present a thorough review of relevant literature, articulate a clearly defined research problem or argument, and provide well-grounded conclusions addressing implications and limitations.

<![CDATA[Progress in the digital era has accelerated in the past few years, including its impact on education, which must prepare competent human resources. Teachers are expected to have competencies that can meet the demands of the times. This study aims to describe the role of digital competence on pre-service teachers in Indonesia. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR), this article examines the results of research related to Digital Competence which raises the subject of students taking education department in Indonesia. The literature review was obtained from the “lens.org”, ”scholar.google.com”, “eric.ed.gov” “link.springer.com”, and ”sciencedirect.com” websites using the keyword “kompetensi digital” and “digital competence” with filter for the 2015-2021 years range. After that, it is filtered with the open-access journal option and language restrictions in English and Indonesian. The analysis is based on research objectives that support providing an overview of the role of digital competence in pre-service teachers from selected articles. After being reviewed through inclusion and exclusion criteria evaluated by quality assessments, five articles published are analysed. The result shows that digital competence plays a role in being an indicator in measuring literacy levels, improving pre-service teacher's learning outcomes, and contributing to the teaching process.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to identify problems experienced by teachers, parents, and students in online learning during the COVID-19 period and examine students' completeness in learning without physical interaction with teachers. This research was conducted at MIN 2 and MI al-Amanah Bailang Manado. There were 16 informants: 4 teachers, 6 parents and 6 students. Interview was conducted directly and by telephone. The results showed that while students were at home learning during Covid-19 some parents paid attention and help their children to study. The parents find it difficult to accompany their children to study at home. It is due to their busyness and their inability and knowledge to explain their children’s subjects. Completeness of teaching and learning in online learning without physical interaction make the teachers must be concerned about the condition of their students. The students are 'forced' to learn through online media while they do not have adequate facilities at home. Teachers find teaching using online media difficult. It is due to limited ability in using applications such as zoom, e-learning, cloud, whatsapp, and others. Some teachers are not ready to conduct online learning. During the covid-19 period, the student will study if the teachers give an assignment. The parents’ supervision makes their children uncomfortable to study at home.]]>

<![CDATA[This article discusses the lexical density and readability levels in Facil's 'Advanced Learning English textbook for high school students in grade XI. The documents of this study were 11 reading texts selected from each chapter in the 'Advanced Learning English 2' textbook. This study's objectives are to (1) determine the average lexical density of selected reading passages from English textbooks and (2) determine the next level of this book and whether it is appropriate for high school students class XI. Grounded on Ure’s (1971) text analysis, the researchers analyzed the lexical density of the reading text. Meanwhile, to determine readability level, Flesch’s (1994) reading ease scale formula was utilized. After carefully analyzing the data, it was discovered that almost all texts had a high lexical density. The average reading text in this book has a higher lexical density level than 40%. Additionally, eleven reading texts are classified into five levels based on the Flesch reading ease formula's results: easy for one text, fairly easy for three texts, and difficult for four texts. For two texts, the difficulty level is standard; for three texts, the difficulty level is fairly difficult; and for two, the difficulty level is difficult. Therefore, reading texts in this book is considered appropriate for high school students’ learning process because each text has a different and gradual difficulty level.]]>

<![CDATA[A robust online learning platform is critical for extending education beyond the classroom and facilitating interactive and individualized learning. Language learning has developed some patterns due to social interactions and independent learning experiences. Vocabulary motivation and achievement are critical components of students' English proficiency. Nonetheless, both variables are recognized as critical by lecturers and students, but receive less attention. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Busuu, an online learning platform, on the motivation and achievement of university students in Indonesia when it comes to vocabulary learning. The platform's use as an independent variable, whereas motivation for vocabulary learning and vocabulary achievement, were dependent variables. This study employed a quantitative methodology. Busuu facilitates the learning experience by keeping track of the number of words learned, the level of fluency, and the duration of the learning day. The researchers refer to fluency as the indicator in the study. The questionnaire and test were adapted and modified from previous research on motivation and achievement in vocabulary learning. There were 98 participants. The research discovered that the Busuu online learning platform's performance significantly contributes to the motivation and achievement of vocabulary learners. The study proposes a new model of English learning that incorporates online learning platforms in order to boost students' motivation and vocabulary achievement.]]>

<![CDATA[Various internal conflicts in education management generally occur due to poor leadership. Therefore, good leadership and governance are needed. This exploratory case study investigates the practices of a head of the study program at an Islamic-based higher education institution in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Using the framework of Total Quality Management (TQM), a movement philosophy that aims to help solve personal problems in education, especially leadership, this study examines how this leader implements those principles as his typical leadership style. In this regard, competence, experience, and personal character must be considered in preparation for development. These four aspects can affect performance and leadership roles in leadership, organizational, and public roles. The data of this study was collected from the observation conducted in an Islamic based higher institution in South Sulawesi. Meanwhile, to analyze the data, a thematic analysis method was used. The study's findings are divided into four main categories, namely, characteristics, operational leadership, organizational leadership, and public leadership. Implications and future recommendations are also provided.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to determine the performance of certified teacher teachers in managing learning at a Private Madrasah Aliyah in Banda Aceh. The approach used in this research is qualitative. The type of research used in this research is descriptive. The results showed that the performance of certified teachers in managing learning had been made as much as possible so that it is carried out as expected. The supporting factors for the performance of certified educator teachers in managing learning consist of internal and external factors. Internal factors that hinder the learning process are influenced by the lack of experimental materials provided in the laboratory.]]>

<![CDATA[Parenting is an important topic for discussion because it plays a key role in children's education. A child's inherent character reflects how well their education has been carried out, and this includes both teachers and parents. Pesantren caregivers, known as Kyai, are highly regarded for their work in fostering good character in their charges. However, it has also been able to maintain the pesantren's leadership succession while still adhering to the core values and beliefs that are the foundation of the pesantren. The success of the Kyai family can be seen in their children, who have taken on leadership roles in their communities and in Islamic boarding schools. As a result, this research aims to shed light on the prophetic values-based mindful parenting practices of Kyai and his wife. A qualitative case study methodology is employed in this study. A series of methods were used to gather data, including direct observations and interviews. The Miles and Huberman data analysis technique was used to reduce, display, and verify the data collected during the data collection process. The pre-conception and post-conception periods of the mindful parenting process based on prophetic values are examined in this research. Parents who practice prophetic values in the pre-conception period are guided in their choices for a partner, pray for godly children, and provide positive stimulation and nourishment with halal-thoyyib food intake. Parenting is also carried out in the post-conception period through Sharia rituals, such as giving attention and affection, exemplifying and indoctrinating, and asserting one's authority.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to determine the effect of the google classroom platform on educational innovation courses in improving learning motivation and critical thinking skills of PGSD students of Riau University. This study uses a type of quasi-experimental research with its research design is nonequivalent control group design which has an experimental group and a control group. The sampling used in this study is the purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the influence of the google classroom platform on educational innovation courses in improving: 1) Student learning motivation saw simple Pearson correlation test results in a control class of 0.781 and an experimental class of 0.790 with a high category. 2) Critical thinking skills of students viewed the average results of the analysis of the verified Gain test showed a moderate increase in the experimental class of 0.4881 and a control class of 0.4390. This study conducted hypothetical testing of research showing that the influence of google classroom platform on educational innovation courses in improving learning motivation and critical thinking skills of PGSD students of Riau University judging by the results of paired sample t-test in control classes and experimental classes obtained significance (Sig.) of 0.000 0.05 which showed Ho rejection and Ha is accepted.]]>

<![CDATA[Education decentralization is a form of independent policy given by the government to regions in managing any educational practices. With a decentralized system, regions have the authority to determine all policies related to education, whether in curriculum structure, financing, supervision etc. This study is a systematic literature review that scrutinizes the implementation of the decentralization policy of education in Indonesia. Using the concept of Materla et al. 's (2017) systematic literature review that comprises review planning, review conducting, and review report and dissemination, this study included fifteen articles garnered from the databases obtained from Google Scholar and Pro-Quest. For the analysis process, a content analysis was employed using good governance principles that promote democracy, observance of human rights, accountability, transparency, and greater efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector (Agere, 2000). The findings report that the published literature discussing educational decentralization in Indonesia improving the local governance environment mainly concerns three main foci: contributions to local economic performance and competitiveness, empowerment of educational outcomes, and improvement of local public services. This article also provides recommendations for future researchers.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to describe the implementation of Islamic education based on religious moderation at the Islamic Institute in Ponorogo through education, research, and community service activities. This type of research was qualitative with a case study model. The study results stated that the implementation of Islamic education based on religious moderation Ponorogo by redesigning the KKNI 2016 Graduation Achievements and Graduate Competency Standards of each Study Program and aligned with the institute's vision and mission. The result of the implementation is the distribution of Islamic sciences courses that understand Ahlusunnah wal Jama'ah to each Study Program as an introductory course in understanding comprehensive Islam. The performance of research based on religious moderation is carried out with a focus on Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies divided into sub-Tarbiyah and Education, Islamic Law and Economics, and Da'wah and Social. Then, the field of community services based on religious moderation is carried out through Islamic community organizations, Community Service Lectures, and Social Services.]]>
