Abstract

This study aims to evaluate students’ creative thinking abilities in solving mathematical problems related to the topic of integers using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The SLR involved critically analyzing 15 relevant scientific articles published in the last five years. The findings reveal that students’ overall creative thinking ability remains at a low level, particularly in the indicators of originality and elaboration. Most students are only able to demonstrate fluency in generating answers, but they struggle to produce unique solutions or elaborate ideas in depth. Several factors contribute to this condition. First, most math problems used in schools are closed-ended, emphasizing one correct answer and failing to encourage idea exploration. Second, teaching approaches still tend to be procedure-oriented, training students to memorize steps rather than understand underlying concepts. Third, internal student factors such as low academic confidence and limited problem-solving skills also hinder the development of creative thinking. This study suggests the importance of designing open-ended, contextual, and challenging problems to stimulate all aspects of creative thinking, including fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality. Furthermore, teachers are encouraged to adopt more explorative and student-centered approaches in the classroom to foster a culture of creative thinking from an early stage of learning.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop a web-based learning tool that can be used for matrix operations (addition, subtraction, and multiplication) as well as for calculating the determinant of a 4×4 matrix. As an alternative to the complex cofactor method for determinant calculation, an adapted version of the Sarrus method is utilized. The research and development (R&D) process follows a digital learning media development approach, consisting of needs analysis, prototype design, implementation, and evaluation stages. This learning tool integrates basic matrix operations with an extended adaptation of the Sarrus method, incorporating A1, A2, and A3 components for 4×4 matrices. This method enables determinant calculations to be performed in a more systematic and efficient manner compared to the cofactor method, while basic matrix operations provide a comprehensive understanding of linear algebra. The study results indicate that an interactive web-based learning resource has been successfully developed. The tool features an integrated calculator for matrix addition, subtraction, and multiplication operations, as well as determinant calculations with step-by-step visualizations. The creation of this learning tool simplifies previously complex calculations while significantly improving time efficiency for both basic operations and determinant calculations.

Abstract

The learning process is essentially a communicative interaction between educators and students, where learning media plays an important role in bridging the delivery of complex material. Along with the development of information technology, the need for innovative and adaptive learning media is becoming increasingly urgent, especially in the context of mathematics learning. Interactive e-comic based on the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach is one of the potential media alternatives, because it is able to present material contextually, visually, and interestingly for digital generation students. The low mathematical literacy score of Indonesian students based on the results of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2022 indicates a weak understanding of basic mathematical concepts and low student learning motivation. However, the utilization of PMRI based interactive e-comic in learning is still very limited, and there are not many studies that simultaneously evaluate its effect on students' learning motivation and concept understanding. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by analyzing 19 articles from various scientific databases, to identify the effectiveness of PMRI-based interactive e-comics in improving the quality of mathematics learning. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of more relevant technology-based learning media, as well as a reference for educators and media developers in designing learning strategies that are more interactive, contextual, and meaningful.

Abstract

The use of technology in education was an important innovation to support the learning process, especially mathematics, which was often considered difficult and uninteresting by students. The low creativity and activeness of students in learning mathematics indicated the need for the development of more interactive and contextual learning media. The writing of this article aimed to contribute to the literature on the development of the interavtive learning media based on a contextual approach through the development of interactive e-modules to enhance students’ creativity and activeness. This approach was chosen to help students connect mathematical concepts with real life, thereby improving their understanding, creativity, and activeness in learning. The method used in this study was the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) method by analyzing 18 source articles using relevant databases such as Google Scholar, Open Knowledge, Research Rabbit, and Semantics. The literature review results showed that the development of contextual-based interactive e-modules had the potential to encourage students’ creativity and activeness in learning mathematics more effectively and practically in real-life applications. Moreover, the development of contextual-based interactive e-modules also aligned with the demands of 21st-century learning, which emphasized critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, and collaboration skills. Therefore, this innovation in learing media also prepared students to face challenges in the digitalization era

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ mathematics learning habits as a reflection of the implementation of character education in schools. A descriptive quantitative method was employed using a questionnaire instrument to measure several character-related aspects, including responsibility, discipline, honesty, and initiative in learning mathematics. The results show that the responsibility aspect received the highest score (4.21), indicating that students generally complete their tasks independently and on time. Discipline (3.88) and honesty (3.67) were also rated as good, although some students still exhibited inconsistent learning behaviors. The lowest score was found in the initiative to ask questions or understand material (3.45), suggesting the need to strengthen work ethic and self-confidence in learning, especially when dealing with difficult mathematical concepts. These findings support previous studies that emphasize the importance of cultivating character values through daily learning practices. Overall, the mathematics learning habits profile can serve as a strong indicator for assessing the effectiveness of character education, with teachers playing a central role through modeling, habituation, and reflective instruction.

Abstract

Using ethnomathematics method, this study attempts to create and assess the quality of learning materials about fractions, especially equivalent fractions, related to local culture. The five steps of ADDIE development modelanalysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation—are used in this study along with Research and Development (R&D) techniques. As a contextual method for learning equivalent fractions, fraction board media representing the shape of traditional Bugis cakes katirisala (rectangle), sikaporo (hexagon), and cucuru' bayao (circle) are created. With a percentage of 83.33% from material experts and 96.66% from media experts, the results of expert validation indicate that the developed media has a high level of validity and is included in the "very valid" category. Meanwhile, the results of the practicality test from the teacher and student surveys indicate that this media is useful, with a practical category of 79.76% from students and a very practical category of 100% from teachers. Regarding efficacy, the N-Gain value of 0.88 indicates that student learning outcomes have increased to the "high" category, indicating that this media has succeeded in helping students understand the concept of fractions. Based on the information obtained, it can be said that the fraction board teaching material made using ethnomathematics has met the requirements of validity, usability, and efficacy and is suitable for use in the elementary school mathematics curriculum.
