Abstract

Turning red film shows us that there is regeneration in parenting style. This parenting style focuses on the successful event in life and achievement but does not see the emotional side of the child. The dynamics of family communication, as seen in the Turning Red film, were seen to be something important in parenting. The issue in family communication will create tension and reduce family harmony. Le Praire mentions that there are two types of family communication, which are nurturing and controlling. Communication is full of contrary expressions and tension between one another, which we call relational dialectical tension. With the family communication dynamics in the film Turning Red, the researcher tries to find the equilibrium in family communication. The researcher used Tzvetan Todorov's narrative analysis. Todorov divides the analysis into five stages, starting from equilibrium until there is a new equilibrium. This research shows that the dialectical tension colouring the films is stability vs change and integration vs autonomy. Parents' acceptance of their children in every aspect, including their developmental stage and emotional needs, will build a higher attachment.

Abstract

The research aims to map the pattern of cyberbullying content diversity produced by adolescents through social media. The netnographic method is used to observe cyberbullying behavior in adolescent communities that are connected through social media. The research is a realist ethnography in nature, describing cyberbullying behavior from the content of youth community conversations. Research participants were adolescents aged 17-22 years who used social media and had been involved in cyberbullying, both as perpetrators and/or victims. Data was collected through participatory observation by being directly involved in the participants' social media activities. The results of the study identify cyberbullying content that is often sent by perpetrators and received by victims. First, flaming - content that contains anger, harsh words and vulgarity. Second, online harassment – teasing, physically insulting and mocking parents' names. In addition, denigration was found - content created by gossiping about something that is not true; impersonation, uploading content that embarrasses the victim; and outing and trickery, sending dark jokes related to religion. The implications of this cyberbullying content mapping are for developing a literacy model for preventing cyberbullying behavior in adolescents who are easily exposed and unknowingly carry out cyberbullying behavior towards their peers.

Abstract

World Cup is a mega sports event enjoyed and built in the name of sport. However, as the community grows, World Cup becomes a sporting event and a political encounter. Each country is trying to be the best, and in order to achieve this, many seek mutual profit or increase power value during the event. Multivector Analysis was used to analyse social media content related to the Qatar 2022 World Cup. With the help of social media and Political Correctness, it becomes visible that these countries are trying to obtain their goals and match victory. Vulnerabilities, powers, and many faces accompany the condiments of the Qatar World Cup 2022. With a historical ancestry in FIFA, Political Correctness is like their anthems. Having a non-Western host would be a struggle against a larger country, resulting in a player exchange that allows them to become immigrants embroiled in heated political tensions because any country by nature still has a strong bias towards its land and its race.

Abstract

After being hit by the Covid 19 pandemic, Indonesia is still trying to rise from the economic downturn, especially with the many paralysed microbusinesses. Perspective updates have also weakened because of activity restrictions during the pandemic. Before the pandemic, the macro film industry was rapidly growing. Now, it is the turn of the microfilm industry to rise due to new ways of promotion without incurring expensive production costs. The role of sustainable marketing is needed to achieve this target for 2023. The Systematic Literature Review was used as the methodology to analyse the data in this research. The results show that the influencer marketing industry and the influencer agencies depend on social media.

Abstract

With the rising of AI technology, a new disruption occurred in society. Disruption can actually be a social phenomenon that exists even in Indonesian society. However, the current state is making the disruption become a commercial interest. A bold example is Tesla's AI Bot named Optimus in the @TeslaAIBot account and a new GPT used for Twitter commentaries called @ReplyGPT. Content Analysis was the methodology for this research, with crawling data related to ChatGPT from Twitter from December 2022-January 2023. Both served as the bridge between humans and AI, and both pushed awareness that there are other creatures than humans. The sequential explanatory design method will discover a new perspective of GPT as advanced technology. People realise that the closest thing that could change human civilisation is language models.

Abstract

Advertising is appealing to most organisations since it provides information, entertains, and communicates, especially on the radio. Advertising can boost sales, but it must be carefully structured to be effective. Radio advertisers must create engaging messaging to be effective. Selective attention, Selective perception, and Selective retention are the three ways people pick mass media content. Selective attention occurs when people focus on interesting messages. Selective perception means people interpret messages according to their ability. Selective retention is when a person only remembers the message they want. Radio advertising has several qualities and tools, which can be divided into Message Style, Message Structure, and Presenter. Radio advertising messages are readily forgotten since they function on the right side of the brain and excite more impulse nets, so they must be repeated. According to current studies, improving the Radio Advertising Components (Message delivery style, Message Structure, and Message Conveyor) by 0.125 times will enhance audience attention. Under the same conditions, increasing radio ad frequency and duration by 0.0512 times decreases audience interest. Increased radio advertising intensity decreases audience interest. Nonetheless, this may happen because field surveys suggest audiences are happier or more interested in listening to high-quality radio ads by paying special attention to radio ad aspects. Radio advertisement broadcasting is intense and plays low-quality ads, which displeases audiences.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the phenomenon of nomophobia behaviour and the effectiveness of interpersonal communication and identify prevention measures among students at the State Islamic University of Lhokseumawe. This is a qualitative research study. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and document study. Next, the data is processed and analysed using Miles & Huberman's analysis model, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. This research uses source, method, and time triangulation techniques to obtain relatively valid conclusions. The research findings indicate that the phenomenon of nomophobia behaviour among students at IAIN Lhokseumawe is characterised by (1) ignoring conversation partners (phubbing), (2) feeling anxious when without a smartphone, (3) spending more than 7-12 hours a day on their smartphone, (4) preferring to be alone or isolated, (5) prioritising buying gadgets over other things, and (6) repeatedly checking their smartphone. The effectiveness of interpersonal communication of people living with nomophobia is measured using the humanistic approach proposed by Devito, which includes (1) openness, (2) empathy, (3) positive attitude, and (4) supportive attitude. Prevention measures for overcoming nomophobia behaviour include (1) parental supervision, (2) strong individual willpower, (3) time management, and (4) engaging in positive activities or utilising personal talents. The research discovered a novel finding that nomophobia behaviour has become a new norm and that there needs to be ethics in interpersonal communication.

Abstract

Using Conversation Analysis, this paper explores the interaction between a mother and their children while giving morality messages. Conversation Analysis breaks down every interaction between a mother and their children to understand the success of interaction for a mother in delivering moral lessons to her children. By using a natural-setting audio recording and exporting the conversation through excerpts of conversations, this paper reveals three interesting findings from their interaction and turn-taking through varieties of turn-design sequences. The findings of this research show there are three ways of interaction used by mothers: 1) future forecasting, 2) authority-evoking, and 3) self-disclosing.
